Greetings World's !!
It's a wet & 'orrid Thursday, here in England !! I've just come back, from seeing my local Dr. - it's nice to be warm, inside the house again... after being out in the cold & damp !! Ok - it's not that bad.....
I'm home alone, for the biggest part of the day - B is having her monthly carer's group... meeting, type thing - followed up with meeting our Daughter & going shopping. I don't think they're going "shopping" in the true sense of the word.... just going to the supermarkets & stuff like that !! Nevermind - I'm home alone..
... Except.... or should that be... "apart" ?... from the cats !! Archie is just across from me, sleeping & dreaming !! His whiskers & tail occasionally twitch, as if he's chasing after something !! Smudge ? Well, our oldest is up, on the landing..... on the floor, where the hot pipes go along (underneath) ..... he might be the oldest of our 4 cats, but he knows where to keep warm !!
Going back to yesterday - the whole point of seeing my Dr. this morning - was to talk about yesterday & my meeting with the Plastic Surgeon !! However - if my post, yesterday, made any sense... you will know that my Plastic Surgeon... well, he wasn't at the hospital & I landed up, having my dressings changed, by another nurse.
My local Dr. wasn't too amused by the events of yesterday - to say the least !! He was, like me, pretty pissed about the whole thing..... he really was !! I'm fairly over it now. Sure, I wish the guy had been there - but... the hardest part... that's not knowing what is going to happen next ?!
I'm here - 17 months after all of this started - and I'm not sure where we're going with all of this !! I still have a hole in my back & no one is any the wiser, as to what is going to be done about it !! Life goes on - but...... I really am fed up with it all now !!
The biggest smile, that my Dr. gave me, this morning... was when he found out, that I had stopped taking all of my morphine pills !! He can't quite understand, how it is - that I can get off of the things, sooooo quickly !!
Most people are supposed to come off of the things, in slow amounts - to avoid withdrawal systems... I'm not like most people !! As I told him, I wanted to stop taking them - so I did !! I didn't feel any the worse, for it.... if anything... I felt better, than I did before !!
I told B - that I couldn't take them & she removed them, from my pills & potions & I came off of them, from that moment onwards !! Life is good - my best form of pain relief, is to go sleep !! I can't do that, all of the time.... but.... I couldn't take those morphine pills any more !!
Life goes on....
Right - the music of the moment !!
As I type, I'm listening to 2 old Cream albums 'Live Vol,1 & Vol.2' ... with Jack Bruce dying, I just wanted to give these live sets, a bit of a blast !! Plus - being home alone - I can put the volume down, to just below deafening !! Bless those extra 4 speakers I put onto the amp !!

That's by - and I quote.... 'Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson' and is 'TAAB2' - or, as old farts would call it - 'Thick As A Brick 2' .... I'm guessing there has been a falling out, with Martin Barre & they have gone their separate ways ?! Martin B - well.... one of the "Top 100" guitarist in the World - and a really nice guy !!
Anyhoo - I'll give the album a play, right after Cream come to an end......... it's going to be an interesting listen, having loved 'Thick As A Brick' for many a year - I am wondering what I'll make of this "new" one !!
I must also play, the latest Joe Bonamassa album - I've had that one, since last week & I don't think I've taken it out of the case yet !! Too many albums... etc etc !! I'll give them all a listen - sometime !!
Ok - my plans - for today.... well, for a change, I have absolutely nothing worked out - after getting up, to go to the Dr's.... beyond that - I haven't really got a plan !! Sure - there are a number of things, that I could do... like getting my new Cd recorder to work, the way I want it to, but... that's for a day, when I'm less likely to throw it thru' a window, out of frustration !!
No really.... I'm sure it will work - just when, I'm not sure... but, one day !!
Cream's 'Steppin' Out' is playing, as I type - one of Clapton's better "solo" guitar breaks ?! I would be interested in your views on that one ?! My comments slot is open to all - besides, nobody has wished me dead, for a very long time now !!
Right - I must away.... Ian Anderson has just got started on his 'Thick As A Brick 2' - so - I ought to listen to that, just a bit.... if nothing else - it will give me something "new" to listen to, until the latest Led Zeppelin albums reach me.... I'm not sure to look forward to them, or not !! Time will tell...

A crap shut.......
Greetings !!
Well, it's been a bit of a bummer - here in England's wild South-West !! More of that later...
First My Family & the Music In My Life - well, there is no music, at the moment - I intend making up for that, tomorrow morning...... and it's going to be really loud !!
B is say a little ways to left & between us, we're watching an episode of 'The West Wing'.... one of the better ones, I must point out !! We're actually up to Season 5, at the moment - well good !!
With in music.... well, I'm having a bad day.... so, no music !!
Today - I had to go down, to Exeter.... to see the Consultant. It's a 100 mile round trip - yet, when we got there, in the little restaurant, waiting for my appointment - B got a 3rd 'phone call, from an-unknown number.
It turns out - the Consultant wasn't going to be there.... so, we made a long & tiring - crack of day trip, only to find, the person I was going to see.... well, it was a crap shoot !! I should of stayed the day in bed !!
Sooooo - I really pissed, at the moment..... I really am !!

ELP - Woodstock & the Allman's Ho-hum
Greetings World's !!
It's a bright & Sunny Tuesday - here in the wilds of England....... and, because B's Dad is still in hospital, she & our Daughter, ME, have gone up to Wells, to try & give his home a quick clean over.... that means, once again - I'm home alone - it can't be helped, so I'm not complaining !!
If I wasn't booked into a 100 mile, round trip - tomorrow - to see the Consultant..... well, I probably would of gone with them. As it is - I'm sat here - kind of feeling like crap.... I'm not sure why !! I've poured myself a tall glass of OJ - in the hope it might wake me up a bit !! Time will tell.... I guess !!
The only news, that B has, on her Dad - from her trip to the hospital, last night, is.... that some how, her old man has caught some kind of infection. I'm thinking from not taking it easy, after coming out of the hospital, last week... or the week before, to be more accurate !! More news, as & when I get it....
So - as I'm home alone & it's about 10.30am - I have the music blasting away, in the form of an Emerson, Lake & Palmer live show... taken from their 5 Cd set called 'From The Beginning'. I've had a copy of it, here, for a couple of years - but, this is the first time that I've really given it a proper listen !!
As I type - I'm listening to a 3 track, live show, from London, on December 12th 1970... or September 12th 1970 - I'm not sure if we're using the European form of dating - or the American !! The tracks are:
1) The Barbarian
2) Knife Edge
3) Rondo
There are some 50 tracks, on the complete set..... so, I'm not going to type them all out !! But - some of the highlights are found on Cd 5 - which features a bundle of live tracks (me & my live tracks !!) recorded in Puerto Rico 'Mar-Y-Sol Festival' on July 4th 1972..... I'm guessing we're using the American date system, oh well !! Those tracks are:
1) Hoedown
2) Tarkus
3) Take A Pebble
4) Lucky Man
5) Piano Improvisation
6) Pictures At An Exhibition
7) Rondo
Heck - it has two live versions of 'Rondo' on the thing.... I didn't realise that !! Oh well - I must play things more often & actually give them a listen !! I must listen to stuff - rather than have it on, as muzak, in the background - to whatever I'm doing at the time !!
Something, that most modern Cd's are lacking.... well, sort of..... is something that is said, just before 'Knife Edge'. Basically that the album was "too short" so that did another track, to fill it up !! I wish some groups & people, would take that on board !!
'Knife Edge' was added, because the Lp was too short - yet, I bought B a copy of Bryan Adam's Cd - 'Tracks Of My years'.... all 35 minutes of it !! Lp's - at best, would run for 25... maybe 30 minutes, per side....... so, to stick an extra track on it, to fill it up - well, that was something !!
Now a days - Cd's clock in at 80 minutes.... I even have a Black Sabbath set here, that last longer than that, on one disc.... so, come on guys, make the Cd's worth their money !! 35 miutes, that's just a con !!
I have a great tape - of the 2 Lp 'Mar-Y-Sol' festival...... part of the ELP set, was featured on it.... sooooo, to get a much longer version, of the show, was well good !! I must dig the tape out (again) at some point... or, better still, look to see if it's been officially released on Cd any where !! I'll do that - when I close this post off....

The concert thing is the worse ever.... it either puts a slight click, on the tape... which is just darn annoying - but, even worse... it will put an actual gap, onto the recording - thus, making the whole concert, a bundle of tracks - with up to 10 second gaps, between the songs !! Not good - not blooming good at all !!
It will get used - probably !! I'll just have to do a bit of re-jigging & sort out the different inputs & outputs, on the back of the thing... that's not for today tho' - maybe, but very un-likely !!
I had hoped, I could use it - the new machine - to help transfer my old tapes, over to CD.... Ahhhhh !! I've just worked out, how to use it differently !! The light bulb, just went on - above my head !! Brilliant - I will no doubt let you know more, as & when I do !!
B has just 'phoned.... ME & her are at her Dad's house.... it's in a mess, but they are going to do their best, to clean things up !! I won't go into all the gory details - but, it's a mess.... bless him !!

Now - as if by magic - the Allman Brothers Band, have just jumped in on the action !! No - they were not at Woodstock... I've just remembered their live set (another live set !!) 'Wipe The Windows, Check The Oil, Dollar gas' was in the multi-player... so, I'm giving it a listen... the tracks are:

5) In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed

Canned Heat - 'Live At Montreux' !!
Greetings World's...
I hope your bit of the Universe is treating you well, this fine - but cold Monday evening ?! I can't moan - about the cold... I'm home alone, with the heating going nice & toasty !! I know - I could put on an extra layer of clothing - but, when I feel the cold... it really is cold !!
I did put the heater on, mainly as My Wife & Dearest Friend - B - feels the cold.... she really does... so, I fired up the boiler & then she got a 'phone call. Once again - her Dad has been taken into hospital... !!
As I type, she (B) is heading towards town - where she will meet up with our Daughter (ME) and from there, the two of them will make the trip up to Bath.... where my Father-in-Law's hospital is !! As mentioned before - it's a good 60 mile journey, from here.... sooooo - ME has come to B's rescue !! Bless her... both of our children are brilliant - they will do anything to help B... especially in times like these !!
As it was - B & I had just come home, from town.... so, it was a quick turn-a-round, for her.... and now - well... I'm home alone !! I just hope everybody gets on Ok !! I do not get on, with my Father-in-Law... well, lets just say, we tolerate each other !! But - I don't want the guy to be too poorly !!
The reason, for our trip to town, was mainly as I had to go into the hospital - our local hospital - so I could have my dressings changed again !! They were only done, yesterday - but, overnight the bloody things packed up & it meant another trip !! It's really a pain in the butt - but....... life goes one !! I could of done, with-out the extra bit of pain.... but.....
I now have to wait, until Wednesday, when - as mentioned before - I have to return to the hospital, in Exeter, to see the plastic surgeon... the guy who has done the last two operations on me. I really hope he has some idea, as to what he's going to do next !!
It's 17 months ago, today, that I went into hospital.... on May 28th, last year (17 months ago, tomorrow) I had my first surgery - it's been a very, very long haul, to get to where I am now..... !! Thankfully - with the help of my family & The Lord above - I'm still here.... sooooo, enough of my complaining !!

As I type - I'm (sort of) watching a DVD, featuring Canned Heat - live at the Montreux Festival, in 1973 !! It's really a bit special.... being filmed just a couple of years, after I saw them !! I'm told it's the only 'Official' concert footage of the band... I don't think that's exactly true - but, I'll settle for what I've got !! The tracks are:

2) Please Mr Nixon
3) Worried Life Blues
4) About My Oo Poo Pa Doo
5) Funky
6) Night Time Is The Right Time
7) Lets Work Together
8) Rock & Roll Music
9) Lookin' For My Rainbow

4 of the tracks feature Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown..... but, I won't hold that against them !! It's still a fantastic bit film & great music to go along with it !! At some point, I'll see if I can find it on Cd... hopefully it will be available !! Time will tell, on that one....
In front of me - all over my computer table, I have about 200 Cd's - which, somehow, have migrated from various shelves, to be with me !! I had great plans - to put them away, today... but.... I'll have to look at them, in the morning.... maybe !!
It shouldn't take too long... mainly as several of them are by one group or another. I can see most of Dream Theater's albums in front of me.... so... they will all go on one shelf, with-out having to fuddle around, looking for spaces to fit them !! I might try & put some of them away, in a minute or two.... after I finish writing these words !!
I must be on my ways..... if B comes back late, I want her to come home to a clean-ish home !! So, that's going to give me something to do, over the next hour - give or take !! No - really, it's not going to take that long... but, I must make a start on things & be on my ways....

4 of the tracks feature Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown..... but, I won't hold that against them !! It's still a fantastic bit film & great music to go along with it !! At some point, I'll see if I can find it on Cd... hopefully it will be available !! Time will tell, on that one....
In front of me - all over my computer table, I have about 200 Cd's - which, somehow, have migrated from various shelves, to be with me !! I had great plans - to put them away, today... but.... I'll have to look at them, in the morning.... maybe !!
It shouldn't take too long... mainly as several of them are by one group or another. I can see most of Dream Theater's albums in front of me.... so... they will all go on one shelf, with-out having to fuddle around, looking for spaces to fit them !! I might try & put some of them away, in a minute or two.... after I finish writing these words !!
I must be on my ways..... if B comes back late, I want her to come home to a clean-ish home !! So, that's going to give me something to do, over the next hour - give or take !! No - really, it's not going to take that long... but, I must make a start on things & be on my ways....

Camp Bastion....... 'Nights In White Satin'
Greetings World's !!
A big "Hello" to my reader in France - or maybe readers ?! I hope you're all doing Ok.... it's a Sunday, here in England... I'm not sure what time or day it is with you - when ever you read these words.....
I was just watching some of the news - I see that Camp Bastion has been officially handed over to the Afghan troop..... I hope I've spelt all of that right ?! It's come at a huge price - not just the 400+ British soldiers, who were killed - but, also the many American troops, killed while on active service.....
I'm not going to forget the many... a very many... who were injured !! Support the troops, even if you never supported the "War" it'self...... There were many other troops killed, from around the World... I hope it was worth it !!
As I type - B is upstairs, making the bed... I think..... she said something, as she went by me, a short while ago..... I'm sorry, My Wife & Dearest Friend, I wasn't really listening !! Kick me next time - that will make me take notice !!
The music of the moment, is the fantastic Transatlantic's 'Kaleidoscope' album. "Funny" as it sounds now - thinking about it - the first track, that came out of the speakers, was their cover of 'Conquistador'... I say "funny"... as I was thinking about troops on the ground, in another country.... just like the Spanish Conquistadors - all of those years ago, in South America - and beyond, I guess, 'Nights In White Satin' is playing now.... a great cover version !!
In a short while, I have to go back to the hospital.... a bit of a bummer - but, it can't be helped. Colin - my Vac-pump is playing up.... sooooo, he needs a little bit of TLC, to get him working again !! I don't mind - but, as he is, at the moment, he's keeping us both awake, at night.... that's not good !!
So - with that in mind - I will be on my ways.... 'Tin Soldier'.... one of my all time favourite singles, is now blasting out of the Bose...... another great cover - but, to me, not as good as the original Small Faces version... all those years ago !!

Jack Bruce RIP
Hi again...
I've just heard the news, that one of the World's greatest bass players, Jack Bruce, has died.....
Having bought & listened to his work, with Cream & more recently, his live concerts - check out the many live recordings.... you will not be disappointed !!
RIP Mr Bruce - and thank you for years of great music !!

Ten Years After... again... ho-hum.
Greetings World's !!
It's a cold Saturday, here in England - B & I have just got back, from a trip into town.... it's not too nice outside !! Nevermind... it's warmer in here, I'm glad to say. I've felt like crap, for most of the last 24 hours - some sort of bug, oh well..... !!
I've just had a 'phone call, from the Missionaries..... they want to come over for a visit !! I explained about my bug - but... they still want to come over !! Bless them.... As I said, if they catch my bug, they will not love me anymore !! But - they're coming over tomorrow - about 4pm.... hopefully they will not catch anything !!
Back to our trip into town.... I picked up a copy of Joe Bonamassa's new album... 'Different Shades Of Blue' - I will give it a listen... not for a while tho' - B is watching another part of 'The West Wing' !!
If I've not written about this before - we started watching all of the seasons, from number one.... we're right up to season 4... I'm not sure what episode... they all blend into each other, after a while !! Nevermind... I still think Jed Bartlett (sp) was the best president that America never had !! Oh well.... back to the family !!
B is sat a few feet away from me, knitting ME (our Daughter) a pair of gloves.... a kind of pink colour, with white in there - hopefully she will like them..... B sure does knit well - a skill handed down, from generation, to generation..... sort of !! Smudge, our oldest cat, is sat with her... I think he wants to eat the wool !!
Back with the family.... ME - our Daughter - hasn't been around, for a day or two.... hopefully she is doing Ok - she & her partner - M - are a brilliant couple, bless them... plus their cat.. Bruce !!
As for our Son - J.... well, there is next to nothing I can tell you about him, except he is someplace !! I've not heard from him, in more than a while - if he's doing Ok, I have no idea !! Life goes on.... and that's a fact !! We're not 100% sure, what his long term plans are... maybe we're see him for Christmas - that's up to him.....
Back to music - even tho' I wasn't talking too much about it before... I've had a really good, but strange day !!
If you go back to yesterday - I wrote about a Ten Years After track... 'Love Like A Man'... Well, in the post, this morning - as if by magic... I had 3 more Ten Years After albums !! To get 3, in one go - well - that was a bit of a fluke !! Anyhoo... they are:
'Undead' - from 1968
'Stonedhenge' - I think from about the same time..
'Roadworks' from their 2004 tour, unfortunately, without Alvin Lee
I'll give them all a play, over the coming days & weeks, well I have time !! As I've said before... too many albums & too few brain cells !! It is great tho' - to have some new Cd's to listen to - even tho' I don't really have time at the moment !!
I must also give a mention to the Status Quo concert, that was on our BBC radio - a few nights ago... it's really good !! B was tapping her foot along to it, earlier - it's really a great bit of fun !! Give it a listen, if you get chance...
