Hello Worlds - Is your gravity keeping you rooted ?!

It's a late Monday afternoon here in England... the Sun is going down & it's getting misty out over the coast - it's not been a very warm day, but it's been dry - so, that's good !!

B & I had to go into town earlier - pick up some food & stuff... plus put some (more) money in the bank !!  I'm sure, somewhere, there is this little man - sat with all of our cash around him, smiling happily to himself !!  It doesn't stay in the bank very long & it has to be someplace !!  Never mind.... we're all happy, so that's the main thing !!

B & ME have gone back into town.... ME is getting a haircut & wanted her Mum along, for company.  J is home now, from his week away - he'll probably spend the rest of the week in his room, so nothing different there !!  As for me - well..... I've been better - but, I'm still here, so that's a bonus !!  I had hoped we would get to Church, yesterday - but....... maybe next week, we'll see - I guess !!

As for the music of the moment, it's Iron Maiden's 'Live After Dead' - well, I think that's what it's called...... I can't see the label from here !!  Anyhooooo, it's the live album that came out way back in the 1980's.  I think I only bought it as we had seen them on the same tour....... I'm not sure why, but...... it was a long time ago !!

Another reason for having it, I guess, would be, it has 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' (their spelling, not mine) & if you want to trace that poem back - well, it'll give you a clue to where I write these words from !!  It'll give you something to look up on the Internet Worlds !!

I see I've had a lot of people logging on this week - I thank you !!  A special "Hello" to my German & other European readers !!  I hope you are all doing Ok ?!  It's good to know you're out there !!

.... on this date - January 9th (1970) - Led Zeppelin played a brilliant show at The Royal Albert Hall in London !!  I have several Cd's of the show - but, one I like playing is a soundboard recording that came a while back, the tracks are:

 It's a really great show - one of many they played in 1970...... you can buy this - or at least part of it - on the official 'Led Zeppelin' DVD set.  That came out in 2003 & features quite a bit of the 'Albert Hall' show....  It's worth buying it & as I've said before, don't buy the bootleg !!  Anyhoo, that's bootleg No. 3 of the collection.... there will be more !!

On Wednesday - my health permitting, B & I are going up to Weston..... B wants to look in a couple of the craft shops that they have there.  I'll go for the ride & - if I can - check out a Cd shop that ME's boyfriend likes !!  I won't have any money to buy anything - but it'll be good to have a look !!

Then - on Thursday - I have to go back into hospital, for a few hours...... so, all being well, we can have a look in HMV.  Not really to buy anything - just to check stuff out & see what is new (or old) & how much it costs !!  I would like a copy of an early Seasick Steve album, but we'll see what it's like 'price wise' first !!  I know I can get it over 'the net' for about £4.... so, we'll see how things go !!

The hospital thing is to just try & sort out the implant..... maybe, just maybe, get the thing to work !!  Given how much it costs & how much it hurts - well, it would be nice if it did what it was supposed to do !!  We will see what the consultant says - maybe he can dial it up a bit, I've no real idea - but, I mustn't moan tooooo much about it !!  Oh well.......

As usual, I have no real plans for tonight....... I need to get an early night, hopefully then, I feel a little better in the morning !!  What ever happens - I'll be back sometime tomorrow, so until then..........

AC/DC & Shrek !!

Hi & "Hello" To All Of You.... How are you all doing this weekend ?!

I'm here on my own some - B has just gone out, to meet J - his train is due in an hour or so - & put in a bit of gym time.  ME is still here, but is going out in a short while, to spend the night at her boyfriend's house.  She'll be back at some point tomorrow - but, as she is working - it won't be until the evening I guess.  Oh well - as for me, I'm not going anywhere !!

The heating has been on for a couple of hours & I'm toasty here in our living (rec) room... I ain't going anywhere - it's tooooooo cold out side !!  I had enough, just waving B goodbye - I'm not that keen on going anywhere else !!

I'm thinking we better get our car in for a service session - the back light is playing up & with the dark nights, well...... it needs to be looked at !!  It's a brake light & that's worse, I guess - it's the sort of thing the police will pull cars over for !!

Right - it's been a very quiet day.  We've been sat here watching TV & just kicking back - doing very little !!  Tho' B has been doing some 'cross-stitching' (or what ever it's called)..... ME has been sat here doing Uni work - but, both have left me here typing now, nevermind !!

It's giving me time to play some more music.... at the moment it's, another, mix Cd thingy.  I put this one together almost exactly 10 years ago !!  It's made up of music I listened to, when I was stuck in hospital in 2001.......  I was there for about 7 weeks & got thru' a lot of music !!  So, for something to do - when I came home - I sat down & recorded some of my favourite tracks onto Cd... well, it turned out to be 6 Cd's - but, I enjoy listening to them !!

Just for the heck of it - I put them all together, in one case & did some 'art work'...... I won't gross you all out, but the 'art work' - well, it's something very unique to me & cannot be replaced !!  It's even got it's own name - "Bust A Gut".... which is, kind of, 'sick - but..... that's just me folks !!  It's only for my ears - tho' J did take it with him, on a trip to France, while he was still in school...... many years ago !!

Since then, I've done 2 follow up sets, from my further stays in hospital..... the last one is called "Bust A Gut 3 - The Wheelchair Shuffle"..... it's all kind of (very) sad - but, just a bit of fun !!  It keeps me happy & off the streets, so no big deal !!  Maybe - just maybe - one day, somebody will play these discs & work out what a sick mind I have...... who else would put together a Cd with AC/DC alongside the theme from 'Shrek' !!

Oh well........ onwards..........

Last night we (B  looks after all the drugs for me)  had a go at changing my drug times - it seems to have worked !!  Instead of taking all 14 pills at 7pm - we held back on 2 of them, until I was actually going to bed.  It meant that I was more awake all evening, but still had a good nights (well, as good as my nights get) sleep as well !!  The only downside - I took longer to wake up this morning - I felt quite weird until around 10am.... but, it seem to work & that was a bonus !!  We'll try it again tonight & see how things go.............. I'll try most things, so - why not !!  I'll let you know how I get on........ only time will tell !!

Tomorrow I hope we'll be able to get back to Church...... B said she'll wait & see how I am, in the morning, which is fair enough I guess.  She does look after me & spots more than I do, when it comes to how I am, from day to day !!  Here's hoping tho' - I'm looking forward to getting back this year !!  Mind you, thinking about it - we've only missed one Sunday, so far, in 2012 - so........ But, it would be good, to start the week off, by going & seeing our friends again........

I made a phone call the other night - to an old friend, in Lancashire - way to the North of here.  I've not seen them in an age & I don't think I've spoken to them in about 4 or 5 years !!  I needed to find out some information about my late Brother-in-law....... he died quite a few years back & I've never known for sure where he is buried.  One day, maybe, we'll get chance to pay our respects, at his grave - but....... it's over 3,000 miles away - so, it might never happen - but, maybe one day. 

At least, now, I have a better idea of where the grave is - it's in a completely different part of the islands than I thought.... so, I'm glad I phoned !!  I didn't really like to bother my friends - but, they are the only 'link' I have to that period of my life & there wasn't really anybody else I could ask !!  Maybe one day - we'll add it to the bucket list !!

Onwards - the music of the moment is 'Spirit In The Sky'... the old (late) 60's hit single.... it's a great song & it's just been followed by 'The Road To Knowhere' by Talking Heads !!  Only I could put a Cd like this together - mind you, who else would want to ?!  Happy days...... ho-hum !!  I'm not sure what I'm going to play after this.... I'll see what turns up !!

Right - as for my plans tonight - I'm not sure what I'm going to do !!  Probably, like most nights, just ease back & let the evening come & go on it's own......... maybe watch some DVD's or something !!  I'll see.... but, for now - I must away....... until next time....

Family Photo's........

Well Hail & Hearty "Hello's" To You Worlds - how are you all tonight ?!

It's a wet Friday night here in England.... I've just waved B off, as she is heading back out to the gym & it's not a very nice night out there !!  Very wet & not nice at all !!  Never mind - as long as she drives safe & avoids the idiot drivers (it is Friday night after all !!) she should be Ok !!

So, with B just gone out, that leaves me here with ME, who has just gone upstairs to catch up on some Uni work...... J is still away, tho' he sent a text today, it seems he will be home, somewhere around 5pm tomorrow afternoon !!  Which means I'm sat here alone, typing these words to you, my readers from around this old globe of ours !!  I hope you're all well - I'm doing pretty good..... so, that's a bonus !!

B had to remind me today - I'm back into hospital next Thursday (I think) to try & get this implant working.... as yet, I'm none the better for it !!  Believe me, if a Dr says "the pain will go away in a day or two" - just ignore him !!  This thing has been in me now for several weeks & I'm still feeling it, every second of the day !!

It's not that it's not pulsing away - I can feel that...... as I've said before, it's like a second heartbeat - all very weird - but, it still hurts like heck & my spine is giving me "I told you so" sort of pains !!  Oh well - I hope the Consultant will have an idea on what to do next..... I waited a long time for the thing to be put in & I'm, kind of, fed up with it now !!  We'll see what happens next week !!

The week after, I'm back in hospital, to see another "guy" as things are not quite right - if ever they were in first place - with my mouth !!  I'm not sure if the disease has spread that far - in fact, I'm sure it hasn't - but my GP wants it checked out, so I best follow Dr's orders !!  Another year & another load of hospital visits.....

...... there are only sooooo many times I can go to the hospital, it's not much fun anymore folks !!  Oh well !!

B & I went into town today.... nothing too exciting - just a quick trip to ASDA.  It's amazing how little we got & how much it cost !!  Sometimes, we go in & spend soooo little & then, like today, we come out with next to nothing & it eats up my entire wallet !!  Never mind - life goes on......

I did come home with a 'new' Cd tho' !!  I didn't buy it - just a loan....  It's the 2 Cd version of 'The Last Waltz' by The Band.  Someplace, I have the 4 Cd set - not 100% sure where it is exactly - so, this 2 Cd version is just a reminder for me !!  It's quite good - tho' it's well marked up.... I'm playing it as I type & I'm expecting it to skip any second !!

Remember when Cd's first came out - how they were meant to be idiot proof & wouldn't scratch like old Lps ?  Well, I guess we've sorted that little bit of poo, for what it was !!  Sure - in many ways, they do sound better than Lp's - but, they do scratch & that's a fact !!  Oh well...... it's good to listen to, if nothing else !!

Talking of listening toooooooo..... I was looking for a Zeppelin bootleg, for today, the best I can come to is one for tomorrow - so, here goes !!  Skip the next bit if you like !!

On January 7th 1973, Zeppelin played the New Theatre in Oxford, as part of a British tour.  I have several Cd's of the show - but 'Oxford Blues' is probably one of the better ones...  I like it anyhooooo !!

While I was typing that bit - the Cd just jumped thru' about 3 minutes of playing time !!  I'm glad I didn't scratch it - hopefully the owner knows about the damage - it's pretty bad, so.... !!

I've just had an automatic message thing (on the phone) from the hospital - asking me to confirm I'll be there next Thursday !!  How weird is that - B & I were talking about today & a few minutes ago, I wrote about it - maybe the "phone robots" at the hospital read my mind !!  That would of been the Worlds shortest read & that's a fact !!  You could put my minds entire contents on one side of a small postage stamp - & then fold it in two, to save space !!

As I type - I have the TV on silent, in the other corner..... the local weather 'guru' is on & seems to be talking about a different planet or something !!  He seems to think it's dry out there - it's hissing down.... where do they get these guys from ?!

Talking of different planets - ME's boyfriend was here last night & we are now one set of Christmas tree lights short, for next year !!  ME now has one set strung up around her bedroom.... talk about being on a different planet !!  She is sat up there, basking in the glow & happily doing her work on the laptop she has - bless her !!  It's amazing to think she'll graduate this year.... I know it's been a hard slog, but the 3 years seem to have flown by - I'm just glad to be still here to see it !!

I've just change the music - it's now a mix Cd of various things - as I type, Nightwish are waking up the village !!  I sometimes think, I'll open up all the doors & windows, turn the amp down to deafening & really blast this place out of it's stupor !!  Wake up the place a bit....... some of them don't seem to worry about us, sooooooo - why not !!  Maybe - when I know it's going to be my last night on Earth - I'll hire a huge PA system & blast the bu**e*s to hell & back !!  No, I mustn't be nasty....... but it sounds like a lot of fun tho' !!  If nothing else - they'll remember me..... well, some of them at least !!

B said again, today, that I can order up the last of the Allman's 2011 concerts..... I must get around to that soon.  There are a couple of other shows I want as well - mainly as they played 'Firing Line' a few times (not last year) & I would like at least one or two copies of that.... as well as some Gov't Mule Cd's I know my Son would like in his collection in the future !!

It's kind of funny - we treat my health so 'lightly' now-a-days !!  Over the Christmas, B said on at least 3 occasions, how this could be my last & how she wanted to make it 'special' for all of us !!  We even took some 'family' photo's & that's something we never do !!  But - B wanted them, so......... one day I'll get around to looking at them !!  I know at least one lady who wants a copy for her wall, in her new home !!  "Hi Toni" - we hope you're both well...... I'll send you a photo, I promise - tho' I don't think they are that good !!

Oh well... enough, enough..... I must away !!  We're trying something different tonight with my med's, taking them a little later - in the hope I can sleep better.... A Wet & Windy Night In England !!

Greetings Worlds - How are you all doing this wet & windy evening ?!

It's a Wednesday night, here in England & it's been a hectic kind of day !!  B has been busy for - what seems like - hours today, doing this, that & the other !!  For her troubles, the house is bright as a new pin, soooo tidy, I'm almost afraid to breathe out of turn.... just in case I mess something up !!  Oh well......

I've done very little myself.... just sat back & let everything fall into, what ever, place B wanted !!  It was probably the safest thing to do..... once B gets herself into 'clear-up' mode !!  Well, it's easier to sit back & take the flak as it hits me...... it's been a day, to keep my head down & roll with the punches !!

Nah - it's not been that bad - just fun to watch & listen too !!

We had to go into town this morning, to get a few things & check something out at the bank.  I check my stuff over the net (bank wise) & today, for some reason, £10 had come out of the account, for something I knew nothing about !!  It's not the amount - just the fact I didn't know about it !! 

It turns out to be something Play.com are doing - you pay £10 a month & this qualifies you for discounts on things they sell..... my problem is, I didn't sign up for it & I only knew about it, when the cash came out of my account !!

Anyhoooo - the bank were their 'useful' selves & I have to phone some number to chase it up...... bummer !!  Can you remember, when banks used to do things for you, in person.... not on the end of a phone or a computer ?! 

Oh well - I've e-mailed Play & told them I want my money back... so, we'll see how things go. I don't spend £10 a month with Play, or Amazon for that matter, to save enough money, to make it worth while.... it's all a bit of a con really !!

Right - I mentioned B earlier - she has gone out to the gym.... her first Wednesday night class, after the Christmas break... she'll be home in an hour or two.  As for the other lady in my life, ME - she is upstairs getting a "deep bubble bath".... so, she'll be out of there soon (I guess)..... leaving only J, who is still away.  It seems that he has a job interview tomorrow.... so, if you read this, "good luck" Son !!  I think he's home on the weekend, so we can see how he got on......

That just leaves me, here (with our oldest cat) typing these words to you....... thank you for logging on !!  The music of the moment is 'Legends Of Rock - Live At Castle Donington'.  It features Uli Jon Roth, with lots of others - at the moment, it's Jack Bruce guesting on bass...... it's a good 2 Cd set, well worth a listen if you get chance !!

As mentioned before, I'm going to run thru' my Led Zeppelin collection over the coming months, so here goes !!

I start you off with a January 5th 1969 concert from Los Angeles, at the the Whisky A Go-Go.... I'm going to run thru' them in a (sort of) date order, month by month... & as tomorrow is the 5th - it's a good enough place to start !!

The Cd I have, only has 7 tracks... I'm not sure if they played any more on the night... but, the tracks are:

I like this recording, mainly as they are still playing old Yardbirds stuff, as well as some of the things on their first album..... it's a good recording as well, so that's a bonus, given how old it is & what it was probably recorded on !!  If you get a chance - give it a listen, but - don't buy it.... if you can't get it for free, it ain't worth it !!  Never buy bootlegs - spend your money on the official albums !!  'As Long As I Have You' is a great track..... Plant was still playing it a few years back, on tour !!  This, early version, is a medley of stuff... all worth a listen tho' !!

So that's Led Zeppelin 'bootleg' number one... I'll let you know about others, as the days go by.  If nothing else, it gives me some thing to write about !!  Ho-hum......

Ok - enough of Zeppelin...... back to The Allman Brothers Band........ it wouldn't be a posting, from me, with-out mentioning the Allman's now, would it !!

I've been reading 'Skydog - the Duanne Allman Story' by Randy Poe... it's a fascinating book - well, for me at least !!  I've 'grown up' with the band, well - since about 1970 - & to see pictures of 'The Big House' & the such like... it brings it all home !!  I've never seen some of the pictures before.... so, it's been a good read !!  Play the albums, read the book.... it's all great stuff & well good !!

Oh well, I must away.........I finished last night, by playing 'Dreams' - tonight, I'm finishing with J S Bach's 5th Concerto (in D, I think) - so, until next time.... thank you for reading......

Stephen Lawrence RIP

Hi again Worlds....

I see on the news - the good old BBC - that the 2 guys have (at last) been convicted of the murder of Stephen Lawrence, 18 years after his death !!  It's taken toooooo long for this to happen, so RIP Stephen !!

The music of the moment is 'Dreams' by The Allman Brothers Band, a fitting end to my day, until next time....

Youssou N'Dour For Prisident !!

Well "Hello" & Many Greetings - I'm back.... if the good Lord permits, for another month or two !!

It's 2012 !!  How can this be ?!  I mean - I was there, just getting used to 2011 & now another year has come to bite me on the butt !!  Oh well - who knows, maybe, as I slept thru' most of the last year, this is some kind of ploy by Hallmark, to get me to buy another years worth of birthdays cards !!  No really - 2012.... "Wow" !!

The weather forecast, this morning, showed our area having very heavy rain.... which would blow thru' by lunch time.  Now, it's 12 noon-ish & the rain has gone, to be replaced by sun & blue sky !!  I can actually look right across to the beach......  I only mention this, because - for once - the weather forecaster's have got it right !!  Maybe this will be something new, for 2012 !!

B has gone into town & phoned to say she had driven thru' deep water, just a little ways out of the village.  I hope it'll stay dry for her return trip........  I do worry about her & ME driving in bad weather !!  I'm allowed to worry - it's what Husbands & Fathers do best, when their 'kin' are out, on the road !!

Talking of my Daughter, ME - she is upstairs, working on some Uni work....... bless her !!  Earlier, she was here & I showed her how to use the photo-copy part of the printer - I think she was amazed about how easy it is !!  It's a good printer - just a little too good for what I need !!

Ok - that's my Daughter..... J, our Son is still away.  He left on Saturday & - I think - is now in Telford, some place, with a friend.  It'll give him a break & maybe chance to find some kind of work - tho'...... we'll see how things go !!  I believe he is coming back on the weekend, but.... time will tell on that !!

So - with B in town & due back in a couple of hours, that just leaves me, here, typing these words to you..... & I thank you reading - where ever you are this day !!  From America, to Russia & India, thank you for logging on !!

The music of the moment is Joe Bonamassa's 'Live from The Royal Albert Hall' 2 Cd set... which came out in 2009.  It's more or less the soundtrack to the DVD he brought out of the same show - but, better quality than my copy of the s/t !!  I do make Cd's of DVD soundtracks - but, when there is an official album out, of the same show, I much rather have a copy & buy what ever I can !!  The copies I make are for my own use, so please don't be offended if you ask & I say no !!  Buy the official stuff if you can........ !!

Having written that - I'm still working my way thru' our friends (from Church) Lp's.... putting them onto Cd for them.  I've not done any, for a day or two - so, I must get back to doing them.  It's been fun, listening to the old records - but, when I'm feeling poorly, a little too much for me to handle !!

I know, it's not that hard - but, I do have problems concentrating & need to be more "with it" than I have been lately !!  Never mind......

.... but, feeling poorly, we have missed both Church services over the last couple of weekends !!  I was hoping to go on Christmas Day, but B didn't want to go & last Sunday (New Years Day) - well, I just wasn't up to going anyhoooo..... maybe next time, if B wants to go !!  It has to be her choice, mainly as she does the driving !!  Oh well........

Back on music - we were watching Adele's 'Royal Albert Hall' show on TV, the other night....... she has a great voice, but - I just get my head around much of stuff !!  Maybe it's not my type of music, but, I like most things !!  Out of the hour long broadcasts, I only (sort of) liked 2 of the songs..... & one of them, we know better by Billy Joel !!  Never mind - I think there is a DVD of the show out, so I might get a copy for B at some point, as she enjoyed the broadcast, more than I did, at least !!

The big news of the day - for me, at least - is that the brilliant Youssou N'Dour is to stand for the Senegal presidential elections in February !!  The "King of Dakar" is running for president.... how cool is that ?!!  It would be brilliant if he went on to win.... tho' I would miss his music !!  Hopefully he'll win it - if nothing else, to get the guy who is there now, out of it..... he has had 2 terms in office, give someone else a chance !!  "Youssou for President" - It has a nice ring to it !!

Talking of which - I think, today, the polls open for the Republican voters to help decide who they want in November to face Mr O'B........ good luck to all of you !!  Maybe you should ask Youssou to stand !!

Ok - that's enough for now...... I'm not sure when I'll be back - probably later in the week.  I still intend to run thru' some of my Led Zeppelin 'live' collection this year...., so I better have a look which one comes first !!  Until next time......

Don't Stop Drinking, Until The Bottle Is Empty !!

Greetings Worlds - How are you are turning today ?!

I wasn't going to write anything today - but, I'm 'home alone' at the moment, so I thought "why not" !!  It is the last day of the year after all !!  Yep - December 31st 2011 is here & tomorrow will be 2012 !!  If I'm right, some people think the Worlds are coming to an end this coming year.... Hmmmmm that could be interesting !!  We'll have to wait & see what happens.......

Ok - as mentioned - I'm home here by myself.... well, sort of....... B has taken ME to work & won't be home for an hour or so , so that's the ladies of the house - as for J, well.... he is here, but he is going away for a week & won't be here much longer - so, that leaves me here on my own.... if that makes any sense ?!

So - as it's the last day of the year, I'm playing tracks from the very first Lp I ever owned !!  From 1967, I give you The Monkees....... Yep.... the first album I ever owned, was The Monkees 'Headquarters' album !!

Give me a break - I was young & I enjoyed the TV show - so, my folks gave me the album as a gift, along with a record player - one of the things that were about in the '60s.... it served me very well for a year or two........ oh well !!

For what it's worth - my second album - was Jimi Hendrix's 'Greatest Hits' or something.....  even then, I enjoyed a wide selection of music....... from then on - well, things got out of hand really & now I'm surrounded by music !!

Oh yes.... I think I finally totalled the number of Cd's we have.... it's not 100% - but at the moment, we have just over 3500 Cd's around the house !!  For those who have not been reading for a while, I started counting

the Cd's way back & I think that's about all of them !!

It's not exact - because I've not counted all the Cd's I've had this month, or all of the Led Zeppelin collection !!  But, I think that's close enough for jazz........  I'll have to list the latest things, from Christmas, but..... it's close enough !!

The Monkees have just about finished, so the music of the moment is the Grateful Dead's Oregon concert, from August 22nd 1993.... just put disc 3 in the machine & am now being surrounded by their 'space & drums' track - all 30+ minutes of it !!  A bit of a change from The Monkees & that's for sure !!  I could put my new headphones on - but..... I'm happy playing stuff thru' the speakers !!

Anyhoooo - I ought to leave on a high note.... being the end of the year & all...... but, I can't think of anything too exciting to say !!  Maybe, the words I told my Son, the last time I saw him. "Don't stop drinking, until the bottle is empty"

In other words - don't give up.... our life - "the bottle" - is never empty, until the good Lord says it is !!  Wow - that's kind of deep !!  happy New Year everyone !!  Until next time......
