The Allman Brothers Band.... again & again !!

Hi everybody.... may your World be as good to you as you are to it !!

Well.... here I am, just lit the fire to warm the place up - it was really cold over night - and once AGAIN, I'm listening to the Allman Brothers.  This time it's one of the 'new' concert recordings that came earlier in the week - I've been trying to listen to them, but today looks about right to give them a good going thru'.

B has gone out to a carers meeting, ME is at Uni placement & J is at work.... which leaves me here alone, playing music & typing these words - life IS good this morning !!  Better than yesterday at least............

I had to go into hospital for a pre-op & - once again - they're not sure if I'm well enough to have the surgery I'm booked in for !!  How can I be too sick to have an operation which, hopefully, will make me feel a bit better ????

OK, I know officially I've lost just shy of 23 pounds since November & that I'm not feeling too brilliant, but come on !!  I'm not going to worry about it - I'll keep flapping these old arms of mine - we'll just have to wait & see how I am on the day of the surgery.  Hopefully it'll go ahead, but time will tell !!

I spent a lot of last night wondering about it all & I've sort of came to the conclusion that it's out of my hands.  I'll have to see what the doctors say....... as it is, the little so & so's are keeping me in for a week after the surgery, so that's a bummer !! 

I was kind of 'upset' that they couldn't do the surgery under a local anaesthetic, that I had to be knocked out - now they tell me I'll be stuck there for up to a week afterwards..... what is wrong with letting me go home the same day ?!  Oh well - I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, I just don't feel too happy about being away from home - maybe you can understand that ?

Onto other things..... Yesterday evening I was going thru' some old tapes & I found a copy of 'Pictures At An Exhibition' by Emerson, Lake & Palmer - one that seems to be different to the official release.  So I

e-mailed a friend & used his knowledge of the band to try & tie down where it came from.  It is a bit of a strange one, as it's really well recorded - but, where it came from I have no idea !!  I love finding old tapes & this one is a good one..... now if I can find out more about it, I will be happy - happier !!

Joe Bonamassa

Hi again Worlds - I hope you're feeling good today ?

So here I am again - another day in the life of my family & the music I listen to.... at the moment I'm listening to the Doors 'Greatest Hits' - why ?????????

Anyhooo, earlier this morning, I started playing the last Joe Bonamassa CD - 'Black Rock' - & it's well good !!  I didn't know it existed until my friend dropped in, before flying back to the America's..... it came out last year & somehow I missed it when it was released !!  I do not buy so many rock mags as I used to, they got to expensive to enjoy, so I'm guessing I missed the release adverts & reviews at the time.  BUT now I have a copy, I intend playing it into submission - or, at least, until something else comes along !!

Yesterday I had another batch of Allman Brothers 'Instant Live' Cd's come thru' the post.... so far I've not even taken them of their boxes, let alone played them !!  So many Cd's & so few brain cells to listen to them with !!  Oh well.........

Today I'm here alone..... just sat quietly..... B has gone to her carers course in town & both the guys are out..... ME at Uni & J working at the college.  He is going to miss the college when the job comes to an end - hopefully he'll find something quickly... time will tell !!

Not sure I mentioned it before - but I'm reading another book about the Burke & Wills 'trip' across Australia.  This one came from the library reserve stock - the last time it was taken out was February 1974 !! Not only that, from the inlay I'm only the 10th person to take it out and the first time was 28th June 1954 just over a week before I was born !!

IF you want to get a copy, it's called 'Dig' & was written by Frank Clunes.... I've got the 'new' edition, which came out in 1951 - it was first published in May 1937.  It's a good read, but I would still recommend 'The Dig Tree' by Sarah Murgatroyd...... but, I've still a ways to go with this one, so it might be as good, tho' I doubt it.

B has just 'phoned to make sure I'm ok - of course I am !!  Even if I felt like s**t I wouldn't tell her.... she needs to get out more & this course is a first step.  Even a journey of a 1000 miles needs a first step - we all have to begin some where !!

Happy Sunday To You !!

Hail & hearty Greetings to you all this fine Sunday....

It is a Sunday (I think ?) & it's very cold outside !!  We went to Church this morning & going into the building the warmth just hit you - plus of course the warm welcome we always get from people, not every one mind..... oh well.

I wanted to go this morning, I haven't been for quite a few Sundays due to feeling poorly, mainly to have the Sacrament.  With going into hospital on Wednesday, I just wanted to go today.  As it was B had to bring me home early, but it was worth going - if only to hear Sister T & her talk !!

She mentioned how we can improve our lives with what we surround ourselves with, in our day to day living - including the music we listen to....... Sorry Sister T, at the moment I'm listening to Dio & I don't think you had him in mind when you gave your talk - OOPS !!  Never mind, the music I listen to keeps me happy & sane, so I wouldn't argue the point......... just maybe turn the sound down to deafening, so as not to upset anybody !!

Anyways - as I say, the music of the moment is by Dio... a collection of his old singles on a tape.  I'm still working my ways thru' 'D'.... but at least I'm passed the Deep Purple collection - I think B would of killed me if I had played too many more tapes with DP on them !!

As for my Dearest Friend, she has gone out for a walk - trying to burn off some more weight....... I wish she would ease back a little, but that's my B for you !!  J is upstairs & ME is out shopping with her boyfriend.  I think I would of waited until it warmed up a bit, but.............

I had a great visit from my friend - he has now flown back to South America..... he left me some great cds to listen to & for that I really grateful.  I can always use some more music in my life - he writes some what tongue in cheek !!  Only those who know me will understand that one !!

And talking about those who know me, my thanks to those who read these words over the last couple of weeks - I seem to have reach a new peak in my 'readership' & I thank you for that....... IF you have nothing better to do than read my words, well.... who am I to moan !!  For now, I must away....... I've got a fire to light.

Be careful what you wish for !!

Hello & greetings....

I was getting pretty down in the dumps !!  As I've written before, I was expecting 2 operations & had heard nothing to say when...... that was until yesterday.  In the post was a letter from the hospital, asking me to go in next Wednesday for a pre-op appointment.  The problem is, it (the letter) didn't say for which surgery the

pre-op is for !!  At least now I've heard something - even if it's only half of the news I've been waiting for..... be careful what you wish for, it might come back & bite your butt !!

Anyways, that's next week.  Today is another sunny, blue sky type of day - very cold, but dry & bright.... I don't like it cold & wet.  Maybe I'm getting old, but the wet weather really gets to the bones in this old carcass of mine !!  Never mind, life goes on.....

Today I'm here alone again.  B has gone into town for a haircut, J has gone with her - something to do with his work - & ME is out at her Uni placement, which means I'm here with the old tapes, typing these words.  I could of gone out with B, but I'm not up to it today...... when I finish this, I'm off to bed for a while.  I feel a little 'drained' - it would be great to have a full nights sleep, just one in while !!  Oh well......

The music of the moment is an old Deep Purple tape of their 'Machine Head' album.  I could - or should - play the cd, it's here someplace, but I'm working thru' these old tapes & this is the next one on the list !!  Up to 'D' now - only a 100 or so to go & I'll be on 'Z' !! 

I did have a little treat a day or two back....... I had regretted getting rid of my old single collection for a while.  But one of the tapes had all my old Canned Heat singles on it !!  I thought they had gone for good, so it was great to find them again...... even if most of them are on cds here in front of me !

I just remembered something a friend said, about the time I bought the 'Machine Head' album - I'm guessing around 1972.  I was walking home to my folks house & met him on the ways.  He had a 'poke' at me for buying the album & that the group wouldn't be around very long & how bad they were... well, my old friend, I'm still listening to the album & as far as I know the group are still playing together !!  Like me, they are getting old...... but !!

Oh well - I'm off to bed.........

Greetings Pt2 - "Hi Sister H"

2 postings in 1 day - what is the World coming to ?!

So, here I am once more - my friend didn't stay - just dropped a cd into the house of fun & went on his ways !!  Never mind... it is sometimes nice to be alone.

Anyhooooo, the music of the moment is Led zeppelin's concert from New York in June 1977... I think it's the show from the 7th, tho' I won't know for sure until I play it thru'.  It's a S/b recording & well worth a listen !!  BUT, do NOT buy bootlegs - it's wrong, illegal & many other things !!  They're good to listen to, to add to the collection - but don't buy them.

One of my hates is when I'm in my wheelchair, in town or where ever, when people just walk right into me, as if I wasn't there.  They are either talking, looking into shop windows or worse still, looking down texting !!

So, today, it is with great joy, I was over the moon, to see a clip on the net of a girl walking along, texting - only to walk straight into a fountain/pond !!  Check it out !!  For me it's 'pay-back' to all those who have walked into me over the last couple of years or so !!  Just type 'girl falling into fountain' and watch it for yourself, it's brilliant....... or I think so anyway !

I've just lit the fire, altho' it's very bright outside - it's quite cold.... the fire will soon warm the place up, especially for when B gets home.  That'll be in about 2 hours or so - until then the music will be loud !!  B is Ok with loud stuff - just (maybe) not this loud... especially as it's Led Zeppelin !!

Hopefully the postman will bring news from the hospital today - I just want to know what is happening, one way or another !!  B has told me over & over that nothing will happen quickly & that I have to wait etc etc... but I just want to get it over with..... surgery or no surgery, I just want to know !!

I went onto the scales the other night... over this last spell of being poorly, I've lost about 10 or so kg - over 20 lbs !!  I knew I had lost weight, but not quite as much as that.  As it is, I had to get another pair of jeans.  The old ones were just falling off me - plus B was nagging me to get some new ones !!  She is my Wife & Dearest Friend, so - from time to time - I do as I'm told !!

Hopefully I'll be well enough to go to Church this weekend.  It's been about 4 Sundays since I was last able to go..... I've said a "sorry" to the Bishop & he has said he understands - BUT we really want to go & it's just not been possible.  We'll see what happens in a few days...... time will tell !!

The postman has just been... no news !!!!!!!  But, a new cd has reached me - so that's something I guess ?!  It's a Brian May 'live' disc that came out many moons ago, so thanks to the people at Play for another quick service - took less than a week to reach me, pretty good !!  M - ME's boyfriend - has been waiting since January 5th for a disc, he should have my charm !!

Oh well - I'm away.......

Greetings Pt 1

Hail & Greeting good people......  anything else who might read these words, well "Hello" to you as well !!

It's a beautiful day today - the sun is out, tho' it's a little cold.... better than yesterday's rain & gloom !!  It was pretty bad yesterday.... B & I went into town & it wasn't nice at all - very wet !!  Never mind......

Today I'm 'home alone' !!  J & ME are out working, as for B she has started a course today.  It's something to do with looking after me - best ways to pick me up & things like that....  some kind of support thing.  I won't be here alone all the time, a friend is coming over in a short while to sit with me & play some music.

The music of the moment is the Band of Joy's Memphis 13-7-2010 concert.  I found it yesterday while looking for a Joe Bonamassa concert I knew I had, but couldn't find.  it turned out to be hiding in the Who collection !!  Why I don't know - but, I found it all the same.  I'll be back !!

....Been playing lots of music & we had a great visit from two members of the Church - a wonderful visit !!  It made up for not going to Church again this week !!

Hi Worlds - past & future.....

So, here I am - my first posting of the New Year !!  I've been "tardy" so...... sorry about that... go shoot me !!  No really, it's been a hectic few weeks really.  What with Christmas & (as usual) waiting until the last minute to buy gifts + most of us having some bug or another.... well, it's not been too good !!

Anyhow, it's 2011... for me, another record has been passed.  The start of a new year & I'm STILL here to write about it !!  I'm not complaining - bits of me have passed away, I'm sure of that, but.... well, be thankful for what we've got & be happy !!

I had to see my Dr. last night & he is a bit puzzled by the whole thing.... not just the fact I'm still here, but also what has happened to the surgery I was meant to have in August !!  He is going to write to the consultant to see what has gone wrong..... they probably forgot about me, or at least hoped I had forgotten about them !!  Never mind - life goes on & that beats the alternative... keep flapping those arms I say !!

Ok, 'tis a Wednesday... it's cold outside, so the fire is lit... & I'm here listening to the s/t to 'Listomania' from the mid '70s.  I've never seen the film, but the music seems a good laugh - unless of course they were meant to be making a point ?  If so, it's pretty c**p really !!

So, if it's so bad, why am I playing it ?  It's just one of the tapes I've set my heart on playing thru' this year !!  If you think that's bad - the other side of the tape had Clarence Clemons 'Hero' on it & that WAS bad !!  I'm not 100% sure what I expected from a solo album from the guy, but it was a bit of a let down really !!  Oh well...... that's the music of the moment, so no problem....

Today B & I went up as far as Bristol.  I had promised her a trip to 'Hobby Craft', so today we actually got around to going !!  It was a bit of a anti-climax really..... ME & B had told me all about this place & when we got there - well, it was like the 'Hero' album !!  Anyhooooooo - B picked up a X-stitch pattern she has wanted, but never found, so the trip was worth it just for that, if nothing else.

It gave me a bigger appreciation of what ME does almost every day - the trip to Bristol & back !!  It was really wet on the motorway, so...... good on her !!  At the moment, ME is upstairs with her boyfriend, J is in his room after another day working at the college & my Dearest Friend & Wife is out at some keep fit class she goes to every week... so I'm taking the chance to catch up a bit with this blog of mine + I get to play the music a bit louder than normal !!  Keep fit has it's + side after all !!

On the music side, I have some more Allman Brothers concerts on the way & hopefully this weekend I'll be having a friend down with a new Led Zeppelin concert tape from 1977.  It could be good - it is certainly from one of my favourite concert tours, but we'll see how good it is on the day !!  Music, music & more more music - what a life !!

I must away, I need to do a few things before bed time - so....... Tomorrow we have two members of The Church paying a visit, so I need an early night - I do NOT want to be poorly for their visit !!  Remember, if a member of The Church shows up on your doorstep, be nice - first tell them to go away & if that doesn't work - invite them in.  you might enjoy their time with you, we did !!
