Marillion & 'The Hobbit' !! Lot's of fun...

Hi again World's !!

It's a bright & cheerful Saturday, here in England....... about 11am in the morning & I'm typing these words, while listening to the first film, in 'The Hobbit' trilogy. It's called 'An Unexpected Journey' and it's well good !! I'm not really sure, why I gave you the title - I think 50% of my readers, will already know it !! Nevermind.....

Behind me - B is doing some dishes, after another big baking session. To explain - as best I can.........

Today B & others are throwing a 'Baby Shower' for ME. A bunch of friends & family are getting together, at M's Mum & Dad's house this afternoon & they're going to have a party !! ME knows about it - as she found out, thru' a friend of a friend, who didn't know it was a secret !! Oh well...... that's life.

I've just changed the music, to Marillion's 'A Sunday Night Above The Rain' live album..... more of that later. I've done the tracks already - in another post, sooooo if you need to know them, go looking towards the back end of last year.

Staying with family.... B's Dad gave us a right run-a-round, on Thursday afternoon, going into the evening - to try & explain......

In the afternoon, we got a 'phone call, from the 'Warden' of his block of flats. It seems that my Father-in-Law had hurt himself & she needed us to go up & see him. So - we drove up to his place, which is about 40+ miles away.

When we got there, he could hardly walk & needed us to take him, to the local hospital, for an X-ray, which the Dr. (at his health centre) had arranged. So - after a struggle - we got him, into our old car & drove him the 5 miles to the hospital.

Guess what  - the Dr. hadn't done any arranging & the hospital wouldn't X-ray him..... for that, he had to go all the ways down to Taunton, to the main hospital !! Sooooo - after our ride up there, that pissed both B & myself right off..... but, there was more !!

B's Dad wouldn't go down to the hospital, so we took him home, where I bumped into the Warden lady. When I spoke to her & asked why she hadn't called an ambulance, given that my Father-in-Law was obviously in such pain, she turned around & told me "It's not my job... etc etc" !!

Honestly - she's paid to help look after the people's needs, yet - as soon as one of them obviously needed to get to the hospital, she wouldn't do anything about it !! How crap is that ?!

I think B & I were well un-impressed....... to the point, where we are going to write to her employer's, to ask just how bad somebody has to be, before the person, who is there to look out for the older guys, does anything about it !! Time will tell & I will let you know, just how things go !!

Anyhoo - we got home, quite late & just got ourselves ready for bed... we were both knackered, we really were !! B was happy I went with her and - to be honest - so was I.....

I made her Father promise, to call an ambulance, himself, the next time he's that sick..... rather than call us & wait over an hour, for us to get there !! A lot can happen in 60 minutes !! Hopefully he will listen & do that, if it happens again !!

So, that was Thursday.... B has spoken to him, several times, since then & he says, he is feeling a bit better now. Hopefully, he's not having us on & is actually feeling batter !! We'll have to wait & see how things go.

Getting back to music & Marillion's live album...... the one I mentioned above...

When I was in hospital, I found the studio album 'Sounds That Can't Be Made' and played it a couple of times, while I was stuck there. I knew I had the 'live' album, with various tracks on it, from the studio Cd - sooooo I dug it out, to give it a listen !! Well good...... especially the opening track 'Gaza' !! Give it a listen !!

As for the music of the moment, I'm listening to Dio' 1987 Castle Donington set. I had seen them there, 4 years earlier - but, it wasn't until 2010, that it - the 2 live sets were released. I had the bootleg tapes, from the BBC broadcasts of the show.... but, it was great to get the official Cd's !!

I've had to take an un-forced break, as the computer packed up for a while..... a real bummer, if ever there was one !! But - every cloud has it's 3 hour hole.....

....... and in this 3 hour hole, I've managed to do the first 'Hobbit' movie transfer !! So - I can now listen to the movies, right on my Mini Egg (iPod) alongside the complete 'Lord Of The Rings' movies !! I know - I'm sad, but.... it's going to keep me going, for a while to come & that's a fact !!

Ok - I'm going to sign off now.... I need to sort this all out, I need to work out why the computer is playing up !! There is no point in my typing away, if none of it is going to be saved !! Ho-hum...

I'm home again !! Ho-hum.....

Greetings !!

Well.... did you miss me ?! If you did - I thank you very much...... if you have no clue, why you might have missed me - well, just read my last couple of posts & you might get the picture, as to where I've been. As it is - it's a bright & cold Thursday, here in England's South-West corner and it's a little after 10am.

I'm home alone, for a few hours.... B - My Wife & Dearest Friend - has gone into town, for one of her monthly meetings. She was going to stay at home, to "look after" me, but - as things are - she is just as well, doing her normal routine, rather than altering things about too much. Plus - she is taking one of our neighbours, into town, for a bit of a ride along.

I'm not really sure, how I feel - about the latter - as these "favours" are in danger, of becoming too much of the norm, rather than the odd "help you out" type favours, that they started out. I guess I shouldn't moan too much - the neighbour is nice enough.... but a couple of weeks back, I felt like we were doing her shopping for her. You know - "the more you do..." etc etc..... Oh well.....

As for the rest of the family...

I saw ME - our Daughter - on Tuesday.... she is really looking the whole part of being pregnant now !! Bless her & M..... the baby is due in less than a month, sooooo the whole family are awaiting the outcome of the sprog's World debut !!

We know it's a little girl - but, as for names... we have to wait & see. The M & M's have picked out some, that they like, but we have to wait, until we're told the news. I don't blame them !! After all - it's their baby & they've every right to keep a few things to themselves !!

Today, unfortunately, they are going to M's Grand Mother's funeral. I didn't know the lady, at all - but.... it's still a sad time, for all of the family. Bless them all.

Sooooo - why the hook in me ?! That's simple...... I've just had another lovely week, in the hospital & these 3 Cd's have helped me thru' some of the worst moments. When your back is absolutely on fire, with pain, it really helps to have something to focus in on & out of the 12 discs, these 3 were my little bit of salvation !!

It's like 11 months ago.... when I was sick, in Exeter's hospital, the 4 Allman Brothers discs, from their last show, kept me smiling & these have done the same, for me this year !! Ok - a slightly different type of music, but hopefully you get the idea ?!

Anyhoo.... being stuck in hospital again, I was really grateful for my Mini Egg & the music it contained - it (sort of) kept me sane & that's a very hard job indeed !!

It also helped, that I know nearly everybody, on the section of the hospital that I go to..... all the staff are brilliant, they really are - especially to put up with me !! We had some fun tho' - even if, once again, they told me off, for doing too much too soon !!

I know I've had spinal surgery, but after 12 separate operations now - I think I can just about handle, as & when I get myself out of bed !! I know, they wanted me, to stay in the thing, for a few more hours (days ?!) - but, I felt fit enough, to get myself up & that's what I did..... again !! It's all good......

The surgery went off, pretty much, with-out a hitch on Friday.... and by Sunday, I was able to attend the service, in the hospital Chapel. I went there a few times, usually around 9pm - just to sit & be on my little ownsome. Tho' one night, I did have company.....

A Vicar, from one of the Churches in Taunton, was in for surgery & on my last night, he walked down with me...... I'm sure one night, security are going to get called, if I keep going back there !!

Hopefully, this latest surgery will be my last - there is nothing more (I think) they can do for me, sooooo I'm guessing this was the last one....... mind you, I've said that before !! Time will tell, I guess.

As it is - I came home yesterday afternoon. I'm connected to another Vac pump.... who I've called Gordon, after a dog belonging, to one of the Spanish nurses....... and we are quite firmly attached to each other !!

I'm going back to the hospital, next Wednesday, to have a few stitches removed & to have a check over with the Consultant. I have 2 visits due at our local hospital, to have the Vac dressings changed and, if all goes well, I'll have a few visits to our local Dr's surgery, to have my regular dressings changed. That's for the comings weeks tho'...... I just want to get past these first couple & see how things go, I guess !!

It's been an interesting couple of weeks tho'...... Going into 2016, I was full of hope & stuff, about not needing another surgery & here we are, in the back end of January & I've already had one !! Nevermind - life is good !!

Over the coming weeks, I'll tell you more, about what's being going on.... about some of the characters I've met and stuff like that, not today tho' - I need to sit in a comfy chair & give my back a rest !!

Hi again World's...

I wasn't going to write anything again to day - but there has been another death, in the "Music World".... the beautiful Animal, at the age of 66 !! He died of "Threadbare  Syndrome" which is unsightly, but not fatal, so they think he was murdered !!

To quote the brilliant WASP.... he really was an 'Animal: F**k Like A Beast' !! He has been in my life, for years - sooooo he will be sadly missed by our family.

So...

We had Lemmy, then David Bowie, Alan Rickman, & Glen Fry yesterday or the day before - we have lost a load of talent, in a very small amount of time. God bless them all !! Remember....

"You can check out, any time you want, but you can never leave" !!

'Ildlewild South'....

Hi again World's !!

It's been a well cold day, here in England's South-West !! It's really bright - but down below zero, as far as temperature's go...... incredibly cold !! Oh well - it's better than pouring with rain & damp !! We both prefer to have it dry & cold, rather than cold & wet..... sooooo we're happy !!

Across the road - as the day goes on, the shadow of our house, creeps across the front wall, of the house, directly across the road from us..... being so bright, you can see it move, as the minutes go by..... it's kind of strange - to watch the minutes tick by !! It's pretty weird really.

Like, watching the full Moon, climb into the sky. We had one rise, across the from us, a while back & it really just crept up into the night sky, getting brighter, as the Sun went down. Well interesting....

I was stuck in the hospital, in 2013 - and a guy there, was firm in his belief, that man never went to, or walked on the Moon. How anyone, can still hold with that, I don't know....To see the Moon rise, over the countryside, in all it's glory, just makes me even more believable, that man did actually walk there, all be it 40 years ago !! Oh well.....

Talking of the hospital....

I've had anther call, from the hospital & - as I thought - I am going back into the place, tomorrow afternoon, at 2.30pm. When the call came, last night, to go in on Friday, I thought that was wrong..... and, I was right !!

Sooooo - tomorrow afternoon, at 2.30pm - I will be starting another holiday, in one of my away from home, type of place...... in Taunton. The stays in Exeter have been alright, just not sooooo much "fun", as it's 60 miles away !! This Taunton place, is only 10 miles away, over the hill.

Anyhoo - another stay in hospital & another surgery.... it's all on & I'll be really pleased when it's all over & done with !! My last stay, was just shy of 4 weeks, so we'll we will have to see, how long, I have to stay this time !! Life will go on & on.... I'm sure of that.

Oops !! 'The Family' !!

As I type, My Wife & Dearest Friend, is over to my left, still knitting some stuff, for our Grand Daughter. It's all coming along nicely...... ME is coming along shortly.... just a visit, sooooo - I will enjoy her time here !! Bless her.... I love my kids !! I'm not sure what time, she will get here - but, some time this afternoon.... so, I'll see her then.

At some point, I'll dig out my bag & I'll get things loaded up.... ready for the morning. Lots of fun.... luckily, I know what to pack & it won't take long. As long as the iPod gets put in..... I must have my music !!

As I wrote, yesterday.... I have tried to sorted out the Dead's 'Fare Thee Well' 12 Cd set, from there concerts, last Summer. Well, that was easier than I expected !!

First off - 3 of the Cd's were not needed as they were "intermission" music - as far as I know, it was performed by someone called 'Circles Around The Sun'. I have no clue, as to who they might be, but - taking them out of the equation, I was left with 9 live Cd's.

Those 9 had 58 tracks on them, so I was able to take them, put them into a 1-58 track order, which means, I can start on Cd 1 & work my ways thru; to the last track, 9 Cd's later !! Great stuff......

I'm not going to list all the tracks, but I managed to sort them out, put them onto the Mini Egg & I'll listen to them, over the coming stay in hospital !!

It'll be better than listening to the old stuff, the stuff I've had there, before..... I expect I'll still listen to the various things, the old stuff, that I like listening to..... but..... 58 Grateful Dead tracks !! It can't be bad !!

I've also found room, for the studio & live versions of Patti Smith's 'Horses' albums. That's going to be a bonus !! It's all good....

Right - ME has just arrived, so I'm going to sign off for today & for the coming days. I don't know how long I will be away, but - I will get back to writing. As always - I thank you for reading my words.... it's good to know you have been logging in...... until next time....

Knebworth 20-7-1974.....

Hi again everybody !!

It's about 5.30pm - here in England's south-West corner & it's really cold !! B has just gone out & we checked the thermometer, it's showing -3 !! That's going to make for a really cold evening.... luckily, we've had the fire lit, all afternoon..... soooooo - it's quite warm, where I'm sat !!

Staying with B....

She has just gone to her weight-watchers class. We've both agreed, she's not likely to have lost any weight this week, but at least she is trying !!

A lady who lives across from us, won't go - because she claims it (weight-watchers) doesn't work !! It does work - as 1000's of people across England can testify.... she's just too fat to try !! Oh well......

As for the rest of the family... ME was here earlier, for a couple of hours - that was great, because I was able to ask her to look after B, for me.... too explain !!

As I wrote, yesterday - I had to head for the hospital, this morning, to see the Consultant. Remember me writing, how I wrote, that I was going into 2016, with no surgeries in the pipeline ? Well, I was well wrong !!

We got to the hospital and went to the out patient's area, just in time for the "Boss" to arrive. after a couple of minutes, I went in to see him & it's all kicking/going off again !!

From the MRI, that I had a week or so ago, it's possible, to see an area of infection & that has to be looked into. Sooooo - after my "Lucky 11th" surgery, back in November, I'm going in again, on Friday, for surgery number 12 !! I should of guessed that, I couldn't start a new year, with-out some sort of kick in the pants !!

As things stand.... I'm either going in, on Friday morning early - or I'm going in Thursday afternoon, to just get rested up & wait for the surgery, the following day. Ain't life just fantastic ?!

The hospital 'phoned a little while ago & said to go in, on Friday - but, the Consultant said he wanted me there on Thursday. They're will have to sort it out, I'm just fed up with the whole thing !! Seriously - this will be the 12 surgery, inside of 3 years, I can only laugh them off, just so many times.... after that, it all gets a little too much !!

One good thing, about having this all thrown at me - kind of - with short notice.... I don't have time to think about it all !! Ok... I'm going to have a big spinal surgery - but... !! As it's happening on Friday, I will have 2 days, to pack my "away" bag & then, have 2 good nights sleep here, in my own bed !! It's not like, I've got weeks ahead of me, to "think" about it & - dare I say - worry about it !!

I will be in a ward, that I know really well - with Staff, who have looked after me, really well, over the last few years. Bless them - for me, it will be a bit of pain, with a bundle of discomfort.... but, as I've said many times before, B will have the worst of it !!

I'll be asleep, having this that & the other done to me.... B will be at home & have to put up, with not knowing how things have gone !! I get the easy part... B doesn't, it's as simple as that really !! Bless her....

Of course, I'll have to get my little Mini Egg (iPod) sorted out... I've got to have my music !! Plus, I'll have to get a few things together - something to read & stuff to write with. I love having my writing pad with me !! It's surprising, just how much I can find, to put down on paper !! Oh well....

I must try & find the Grateful Dead albums, that my friend gave me, a week or 2 back !! I've put everything away - so I'm going to struggle to find the stuff, I'm looking for !!

At the moment, I'm on a kind of Patti Smith planet. I've got 6 of her albums, out at the moment.... if I'll put any of them, onto the Egg - well, that's not for tonight - maybe tomorrow !! I'll see how I feel..... I fancy the 'live' version of 'Horses' that I've found... that's quite good. Again - I'll see how the time goes.

I'm playing the 1974 Allman Brothers concert, from Knebworth. It was there first concert, in the UK & a group of us, went along. Well, 3 of us, went along.... not really a group !! It was a great day - not helped by my bad navigating, on the way home - where I missed my turning & landed up, in Central London.... completely lost !! Oh well... we made it home.... that's the main thing !!

Monday, Monday again & again....

Well greeting's World's !!

I hope your afternoon is going well & life is treating you well ?! It's a little after 3pm here in England & I'm just kind of waking up. Ok - I know it's a bit late in the day - but, I've been a bit poorly & slept in this morning.

I did plan on going with B, into town - but me ol' body wasn't really up for the trip, so I went back to bed & slept the morning away I feel a lot better now, so that's got to be a bonus & that's a fact !!

As for My Wife & Dearest Friend, she is across the road, picking something up, from one of the better neighbours. To try & explain..

Because I wasn't feeling too special - B took the neighbour with her, into town.... and, between them, they had a great morning of doing things. Going to this shop & that shop. The neighbour doesn't get out much, sooooo she was well pleased to have a look around....... Somehow, tho' - something B bought, turned up in the neighbour's bag & B has now gone to fetch it. It's all good...

One of the shops, that they went into, is a place, that I want to go - to get some frames, for a couple or 3 posters, that I have. Ok - 2 of them, are not everybody's cup of tea.... to explain...

I've written about these before, I know, but.... I have 2 giant posters, of my back. One is of my wound & one is of the MRI of the metalwork. A sort of "before & after" shot.... not to everyone's taste... but, I wanted them & B got them made up to poster size !!

The 3rd poster - well, that's not sooooo weird. It's one of the maps, from 'Lord Of The Rings'. I've had it for a couple of years & now I've decided to get it framed up. All 3 of them, well - I have a 4th poster, which is already framed & all 4 of them will hang in the spare room, somehow. I've no real clue, where they're going to go (being so big) but, I'll find a place for them !!

If I can get the same type of frame, that would be good..... but - time will tell on that !! I'll try & match the 3 to the 4th one.... then they will all look - kind of - the same !! I'll see how things go, I guess....

Staying with the spare room...

I will have to decide what to do, with the furniture, that's in there. It's kind of surplus to requirements, since... well, read older posts, to find out why. Anyhoo - if I can move the furniture out - that will give me, a really great place, to built my next model railway !!

I've used an 8 by 4 board over the years, by I would really like to have a go, at a 10 by 6 size thingy..... giving me, that bit of extra width & making all of the track, that much longer !!

I have a vague plan, in my head & the extra 20 square feet of board would really help that come to into reality !! Once again - time will tell.... I still have loads of things to throw out first - sooooo I'll have to see how things turn out !!

Anyhoo - that's a plan, for sometime, down the road - not something that will take a lot of this, that & the other.... just something for the future !!

Talking of "the future" - I'm heading back to the hospital, tomorrow morning !! As I wrote, on Saturday (I think) my Consultant 'phoned on Friday night & wanted me to go & see him, this week. Well - this morning his secretary 'phoned & I've been asked to report in, at 9am tomorrow morning.

As things stand... he may not like, what he is going to see... !!

I had my dressings changed, on Friday.... but, because things were not so good, I asked B to arrange for me, to go to the dressings clinic, at our hospital, in town. Sooooo - she made a couple of 'phone calls & the Dr. she spoke to, told her, to take me to the clinic there. It seems, that I was to be expected...... yeah, right !!

We went in & there were lots of people waiting and all of them, had 2pm appointments.... just like ourselves. Unfortunately - we were not expected & our names were not on the list !!

In a nut shell - it meant that I wasn't going to be seen, if at all, for up to 3 hours.... so, I just said "Ok" and left the nurses to sort it out. One of them did chase after me - to try and sort things out, before I left - but, I was not going to wait around, for a few hours, just to be told, "sorry" at the end of the afternoon !!

That's twice now - inside a couple of weeks, that I've gone to the hospital & had to leave, with-out being seen !! It's got to be the worse joke in the World. To go to a hospital & to be turned away, simply because they didn't know you were coming !! Really dumb...

The downside of all of this, is quite simple..... My Consultant is going to unwrap a dressing, that is not very nice at all - so he will get to see, first hand, just how bad it is, with out having anyone cleaning it up, before he gets to put his hands on it !!

I suppose - there is an upside, to all of this. For all the reasons I've just written !! He will see it, as it really is - and not after someone has cleaned it up for him.... that's going to be interesting !!

Oh well..... I'm sure I will let you know how things turn out... it's going to be interesting & that's a fact !!

Right - I best away...

I've spent a bit of time, over the weekend & this afternoon, getting the tracks, sorted out, for my 'The Hobbit' Cd's. As I've written before, I love hearing films, on Cd.... especially, when I'm stuck in hospital. So, I've been getting the timings from the Blue Ray's & - at some point - I'll put the films onto my iPod thingy & several Cd's.

I think, it's going to take about 9 Cd's in total - mainly as the films are about 3 hours in length. That will meant 3 Cd's per film & lots of fun, for me !! Oh well, what more can I say - I'm an idiot & that's a fact !!

Blind Faith & other stuff....

Greetings again World's !!

Well, I'm still home !! After all the fun & games of yesterday, the Consultant 'phoned late-ish & told me, to go & see him next week.

Sooooo - after all the lookin' the local Dr' & nurse did yesterday afternoon... the man who must be obeyed , decided I could stay home, for a few more days & he'll see me on Tuesday. I cannot tell you, just how happy I am with his idea !!

It's true - my back hurts like heck...... and (apparently) it's not too good to look at, but !! I'm not going to argue with the power that is my surgeon. Besides, I can sit here, and type these words, while half watching 'The Big Bang Theory'. Life is good !!

Right - going back to the important things in life..... my family !!

As I write these words, B is over to my left, doing some more knitting for the Grand Daughter. A kind of pink & white thingy. I'm not 100% sure what it is, but I think it's the same as the thing, that she did, last week - just a different colour. It looks good tho' !!

We've just been talking - this is ME's last weekend at work !! We think she is working today, tomorrow & Monday.... then that's it !! I'm really pleased for her. When the M & M's told us, of the big news, it seemed so far away, now.... !! The weeks have gone around & around & we're all waiting for the big day !! Bless them both... well, bless them all !!

As for the music of the moment - well, there isn't any....... minus the opening & closing music of 'Big Bang'. But... I have been sorting out some more Cd's - I've actually managed to do another shelf !! Ok - that might not seem much, but it's another 100 or so off the list !! I hope, this year, to get them all listed & put into an A-Z order..... so far, I've failed miserably, over the last 6 years, sooooo !!

I was listening to an old Blind Faith concert, a while ago. It's called 'Stepping Stones Pt. 2' and, yep - it's a bootleg. I have no idea when, or where I got the thing.... but, it's quite good. The tracks are:

Rush & waiting on the telephone !!

Hi again World's !!

I hope you are all doing well, this fine Friday afternoon ?! It's a little after 2pm - here in England's "Wild West"...... well, the actual South West, not so much the wild part !!

The bad news of the day, is that I might be going back into hospital again !! I went down to the local surgery, so the dressings could be changed & the nurse wasn't too happy with things. So - she called in the Dr. & now, I'm home here, waiting for the 'phone to ring. The Dr. called the hospital & now it's just a waiting game, to see if the hospital want me to go back in !! Bit of a bummer really !! Enough of all of that...

The family.....

As I type, B - My Wife & Dearest Friend - is sat to my left, looking at the local news, on her iPad thingy. She was with me, when the nurse was doing the nasty, with my back - sooooo, she knows, just how bad things have got.

Hopefully we'll spend the weekend home here - rather than apart. We've spent too many days apart, last year - I don't want this year, to start off, the way 2015 ended !!

She has just fed, 3 of our 4 cats...... feeding time, is about the only time, that we see them all together, when the food is about !! On other times, we might see 2 of them - but never do we see all 4 of them, in the same room.....

It's true - that cats "allow" humans, to look after them. Never do they let us forget, who is the "boss". as far as the house is concerned !!

Out of the 4 of them, we think the one & only girl of the group, is in control. She might not be the oldest of them, but she does rule, as far as the 3 boys are concerned !!

Going back to the family..... Our Daughter, ME, gives up work, in a couple of days, or so - ready for the birth of our Grand Daughter !! The baby is due, on February 26th, so it's not too far until the baby makes her first public appearance....... Yippeeee !!

Right, as I'm waiting for the Dr. to 'phone - I better hurry along & get packed up.... just incase I have to away from home. But - first the music of the moment !!

As I type, I'm listening to Zeppelin's 'All My Love'.... from the 'In Through The Out Door' album. I'm not actually playing that album, just a 5 Cd compilation of loads of tracks, that I recorded, onto tape, way back in 1981.

I put the whole thing, together, to play in the car.... I'm talking about the tapes, not the Cd's. Those I put together a couple of years ago - just to give me some thing to do, really. The tapes fitted well, onto 5 Cd's... sooooo, all in all, it came out really well !!

By putting the whole thing - all 5 Cd's into the Sony, I can play them, on "shuffle" and enjoy them, not knowing which track, or group, is coming up next !! Zeppelin has morphed into Rush & now, it's playing 'By Tor & The Snow Dog'.... it's all good !!

Right, I better be on my ways.... if I'm heading back to hospital, I have to get things ready. I was going to say, "ready & willing" - but. I'm not that keen to go... so the "willing" part will have to wait, for now at least !!

If I do get stuck there, it will be a while, before I write anything again... so, hang in there, for me & I get back to this old blog of mine, as & when I can !! Thanks for logging in & reading my words.... until next time...

Carl Sagan & Jon Anderson Ho-Hum

Hi again from the wilds of South-West England !!

It's a Wednesday, here in our little bit of the Universe & I'm sat typing these words to you, while wondering about something. More of that later...

As I type, B is over to my left, reading this morning's mail & looking at her tablet thingy..... I'm not really sure, what it's real name is. Actually, she has just told me, it's an iPad, or something like that. I don't know.... it's too complicated for me !!

ME - our Daughter came over, yesterday afternoon.... and, as always, it was great to see her. The baby is getting bigger & bigger - or I should say - the bump is getting bigger & bigger !! Every time we see her, she looks like the baby is about to break out & see the World !!

She is due to make her World debut, on February 26th...... sooooo - I will let you know, as & when the little one is here. Our first Grandchild...... it's got to feel a little special !!

Tho' - it seems that on the dreaded Facebook, that I already have a grandchild, from my son, from my first wife. We were talking here, a few weeks back & B told me, that my son has a child (or 2) and that makes me a grand father already !! Shit happens - the fact that it was B who told me & not my first son - well, that's life folks !! Nevermind.... maybe one day, he'll get around to telling me, if not - no biggy !!

Getting away from births & stuff... well, just a shade. I'm wondering why a guy on the BBC News, is going around, claiming he has 800 children, from a shed load of different woman !! You can read about it, on the BBC's news page, on line.... just seems dumb, going on TV and talking about it all !!

As I said above... it's just something I've been wondering about !! Oh well - life has all of it's pitfalls, for us to avoid & 800 children, seems like a lot of pits in my opinion !! Life goes on & on.....

I didn't post anything, yesterday.... sorry about that, but I was feeling a little poorly & didn't really get around to writing. I trust I can be forgiven....

I even asked if B would mind staying home, with me, instead of going to her weight watches thingy. I really did feel poorly & needed her at home, to help me thru' the evening, before going to bed. I'm glad she was here..... not only did she help me, I actually got a great nights sleep as well !!

Right - I'm still going thru' the Cd's - I have now done 15 shelves !! That adds up to over 1000 Cd's listed, if not sorted into their A-Z  order. My plan, is to keep going, sorting out each shelf & then the great alphabetical ordering will get going !! It's not much of a plan, but - it's all I've got for now !!

When I finish this post - I'm going to start work on the Neil Young section...... That's going to be fun, as I always find Cd's by the guy, that I've either forgotten about - or, more than usual - forgotten I've bought it, the Cd, in the first place.... hence. it's just getting covered in dust & not played !! Nevermind.... I should get that done, quite quickly....

David Bowie RIP..... and other stuff....

Greetings World's !!

I guess, by now, you know that David Bowie has died..... There are lots & lots of programmes, about him, on the TV. He was good, but - lets face it - he was a good musician & songwriter, but he was no Saint & that's a fact !! All of these TV pundits, on the BBC, are making the guy out to be the greatest thing, since sliced bread !!

Oh well.... I have about 15 of his albums, I think (with-out looking) sooooo I did like what the guy turned out, but.... come on, Michael.... Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley & David Bowie ?! Give it a rest - honestly.

Getting away from music, briefly.... 'The Family' !!

As I type, B is to my left, altering a pair of trousers, for the village Post Office owner. It seems, that some time ago, he gave a bottle of wine, for a raffle, that B was involved in - now he wants his trousers altered, as payback. It seems that his Wife is a good cook, but can't sew. I suggested he get a '"multi-purpose Wife" like B !!

Oh well, it's that kind of village.... people do things for others & in return, they get a pair of trousers to alter !! Oh well..... B is good at that kind of thing tho' - the whole knitting & sewing stuff..... sooooo, I don't mind.

She has just about finished a warm cardigan thingy, for when the Grand Daughter is born.... Ok - it's going to be a bit big, but - it should fit at some point. Me - I'll just do what I always do.... play lots of music for the little one !! I think ME is coming over, at some point, tomorrow..... so, she can pick the cardigan up then......

Talking of people coming over......

Yesterday, we had a visit, from a long lost friend. He used to come over every Sunday - then, he stopped visiting for some reason, best known to himself - and yesterday, he showed up again.

I think, it's the best part of 2 years, since we last saw him !! Oh well.... he came, we talked about music & all the crap that we've both gone thru' and after a couple of hours, he left.... it was good to see him again !! Hopefully, it won't be 2 years, before we see him again !!

Talking of old friends....

I mentioned a few days back, how I had received an e-mail, from a guy we've not seen, in about 20 years...... I was thinking, at the time, that I wouldn't answer it, but.... I'm tempted, to not only answer it, but to remind him, of a couple of things !!

One being, how he knocked on our front door, to "borrow a bed", because he had picked up some tart on the motorway services, where he worked at the time. I think his Wife might like to know about that !! I'm being mean, I know.... but !!

The 2nd thing I was going to remind him about.... well, that was the 100 Cd cases, that he asked me to get.... which he failed to collect them, or pay me the £35 that they cost !!

Yep - I'm being mean, I know..... but, after all these years, I'm tempted !! Time will tell, I guess. It depends if I want the guy, back in our lives..... at the moment, I could do with-out a friend like that !!

Right... back to music...

The Government & the Allman Brothers...

Greetings fellow Earth people !!

It's about 5 pm, here in England..... "it's cold outside........."  but - here in the living room, it's nice & toasty !! As mentioned a couple of days ago, we picked up some coal & logs, to keep the fire going - and now, with the help of a box of matches, the fire is going really well !!

As I type, B is over to my left, doing some more baby knitting.... oops, I should point out, she is knitting for the baby, not actually knitting babies !! Nevermind... I know what I mean !!

As for the rest of the family.... well, one half of the M & M's was here earlier, our daughter ME !! M was working, sooooo - we'll see him as & when. His Grand Mother died yesterday, so things are a bit up in the air, at the moment. Our thoughts & prayers are with him tho'.... as always.

As things are - we'll see the guys, as & when they have the time.... what with working & the death as well.... it's not a great time for them, bless them.

I've spent the biggest part of the day, writing a letter, to one of the many Government agencies. After going thru' the last 3 years (nearly 3 years) I have to explain why I'm not working !! Sooooo - I've written a nice letter to them, including some rather "nice" photo's of my back..... Starting with the original scan picture, right thru' to the end shot, after the last plastic surgery. If that doesn't convince them, of my reasons for not working, well - they must be a bloody hard nose sods !!

Oh well.... what can you do ?! Some people get away with  scamming the Government.... me, well - what can I say ?! Not a lot really !! Oh well - I will let you know how things go, I'm not holding my breath !!

I know the powers that be, are cracking down, on people who try to pull a fast one, claiming for this, that & the other.... me, well... I'm not holding my breath & that's a fact !!

B is on the 'phone to ME - she must have just got home.... it's not too far away, but she couldn't have been home too long !! Oh well..... life goes on & on.... and on !!

The TV is on, quietly in the corner - the Government is now saying, that drinking can cause cancer, in people, who drink too much !! Honestly, just how much more control, do the bloody people want ?! Sure, I know of people, who drink themselves dumb, nearly every night, but - surely that's down to personal choice ?! Why should a think tank, or whatever, decide what a person can, or can not do.....

I do not drink, at all - but that's my choice. If people drink a small amount, apparently, that's better than people like me. I don't get it.... I'm really pissed with all of this control, they seem to want !! Nevermind....

I've spent the biggest part of the day, listening to the 2 Allman Brothers sets, that arrived yesterday. At the moment, I'm listening to their Manley Field House, Syracuse, N.Y. 2 Cd set..... I'm not 100% sure how "legal" it is, but Amazon sold it to me, so take it up with them !! The tracks are:

Talking of tomorrow... I'm having my next MRI scan, in the afternoon... that's going to be fun !! If anyone tells you, that you're not allowed to have 2 MRI's in the same year, tell them to go and find a cliff to look at, they're talking thru' their butts !!

This will be, at least my 4th - if not my 5th - MRI  in the last 12 months !! I must glow in the dark, with all the rays that have gone thru' my body..... !! Oh well - life goes on !!

12 months gone....

Hi again everybody !!

It's a Thursday, here in England's South-West corner & the weather is dry & cold. We've just got home from town & it was really windy, sooooo. added it to the cold - it wasn't too special out there.... Nevermind.... it's been better than having it rain, all the time !!

As for the family.... B is sat, right up close to the fire. Yesterday, we bought a whole bundle of coal & logs - so that's going to heat the house up !! Plus - it's nice to have an open fire, to give a centre point to then living room !! Hot & pretty as well.... can't be too bad.....

I think, tomorrow, ME is coming over to see us. As mentioned before, I love it when our Daughter comes around to say "Hello" !! I know both of the M & M's have been working hard, since Christmas, but it'll be good to see her again...

Going back to the 2 of us, we've been busy, today. We went to one of our favourite electrical stores & bought the dryer, I mentioned a day or 2 back. Ok - it cost a little more, than we expected at £240 - but, it's got a good warranty + it gets delivered for free. Some shops charge for that privilege, sooooo - all in all - it wasn't too bad  a price.

Add to the above, we had to buy some ink, for the printer & do some grocery shopping - so we've been going around like mad things. I also made a trip to the local 2nd hand record shop..... I didn't find too many things today - but, I came out of there with another Zeppelin bootleg (which I didn't pay for !!) and a 2 Cd set of Bruce Dickinson's.

I also came home, with 4 Patti Smith albums....

None of these I've heard before.... I know - I'm probably the only person on Earth, who hasn't heard 'Horses'..... but, the price was right & I couldn't resist them !!

Staying with albums.....

Yesterday, a friend of mine came over to see me.... he lives abroad & I only see him once in a while, so it was great to catch up, especially as he brought me a bundle of Cd's to keep !! Where I start with those, I have no clue, but they were....

Grateful Dead's complete 'Fare Thee Well' 12 Cd set, from last summer's concerts in America.... it's going to take quite a while to listen to those !!

I also have, from him, a couple or 3 boots.... 2 from Zeppelin, recorded in America & Japan + a brilliant Gov't Mule set, from London, last year !! I'm really going to enjoy going thru' all of them, I know, it's going to take a while..... but it's going to be fun !!

Plus - in the post today, I've had 2 Allman Brother's live sets..... one from 1972 & one from 1979. Sooooo - add all of them together & I've got weeks of fine listening ahead of me !! B will no doubt enjoy some of them - but, I suspect I'll have the odd moan. As I said, when I started this blog, all these years ago...... I wanted some one, other than B, to ask me what I hell I was playing !!

This post has nearly been all about music - sorry about that..... but, I do love my music & to get sooooo many albums, in just a short space of time... it's all a bit overwhelming, even by my standards !! Nevermind..... life, our lives, keep on going & that's a fact !!

Right, my plans for the rest of the day... Well, I'm still going thru' all of the Cd's, that are already here + we have to make a space for the new dryer. That won't take too long, just got to move the old one out & that will give us the room.... no biggy.

As for tomorrow.... I have to go back to the Dr's surgery, to once again have my dressings changed. There are only 2 nurses, who I see, at the surgery, but the nicer of the 2 is working tomorrow.... She always has a smile on her face & makes, the whole process, a little less painful. It still hurts like mad, but..... after all this time.

Before I go - remember it's been a year ago - the first anniversary of the attack  on "Charlie Hebdo"... 12 months since those bastards shot those people, at the magazine. If you feel brave enough, come & see me..... I'll give you your 72 virgins & all the crap that you think you'll get, by doing a jihad !! Lets see how quick you want to try it on, with someone who has nothing, but will give you plenty !!

Rush & Kermit the frog..... Ho-hum...

Greetings World's !!

How is your part of the Universe treating you today ? It's a wet & dreary day, here in England's South-West corner. It was really good this morning, bright & Sunny, not now tho'.... it's raining again !! Honestly - this year is starting off, just the same as the old one finished.... wet & horrid !! Oh well...

Starting off with the family.... As I type, My Wife & Dearest Friend - B - is sat to my left, knitting something for our Grand Daughter to be. It's a red something or other - I'm not really sure what it is, but it looks good, that's the main thing. Of course, it's got to fit as well..... but, that will depend on the baby !! Time will tell on that subject !!

This morning, B drove me to the hospital.... I had a check up booked, with the boss - my Consultant, the guy who's operated on me, for 7 of the last 11 surgeries. A great guy.... who allows me, to call him by his first name, which is pretty good !!

Anyhoo - my back is hurting like crazy, as I told him, it's really f***ing getting to me now. Sooooo - I'm going to have another MRI, sometime soon & we're going to have to wait & see, how that goes. I'm hoping things will go - or I should say - will get better, on their own.... but, once again, time will tell !!

As for the rest of the family.... well.... The M & M's have gone back to serious working, after the Christmas holidays. ME didn't really have much of a break.... but, what she did have, seemed to suit her. She's looking really well - happy & pregnant !! Bless her heart !! The baby is a coming & that's a fact !!

I mentioned going to the hospital.... this afternoon, I had to go to the local Dr's to have my dressings changed. To be honest - it hurt a bit more today. That's nothing to do, with what the boss did this morning, it's just the dressings haven't been looked at, for a few days..... so, that's the reason why (I think !!). Anyways - the dressings been looked at again + I've had another blood test. All in all, I've had a busy, medical day !!

I've just realised - I've not written anything for a couple of days...... sorry about that !! The last time I posted, was on Saturday. Sooooo - what have I been doing ? Nothing much really !!

We did plan on going to Church, on Sunday.... but, after a couple of nights of not being able to sleep (the back again) we both overslept on Sunday - hence no Church !! The services are now at 10am.... away from the 12 noon time, that they used to be on....... sooooo - waking up, at 10.15am.... well, you get the idea ?!

As for yesterday... well, I've no real excuse. I did spend a lot of the day, going thru' the Cd's & by the time I had finished doing that, well - in a nut shell - I didn't feel like writing anything !!

I was just a bit tardy & I had had enough finger/keyboard interaction for the day, so I gave up & switched the computer off.... hoping to get back today !! Guess what - I am back & I'm still doing the Cd's !!

Which brings me around to the music of the moment.... well, as I type, I'm listening to 'Time' - from the old 'Dub Side Of The Moon' album. I'm not sure when it came out, but I've had it here for a few years...... but, that's not the album I wanted to list.

That goes to the original Cd release of 'All The Worlds A Stage' by Rush....... the tracks are:

The reason, that I wrote the "original" thing, above, is simply it came out, when Cd's were mostly still only 74 minutes in length. The later release of the same album, came out with 'What You Doing' as the encore..... the Cd was longer & there was room for extra track. Ok - it's only me, being picky - but.... Life goes on !!

Just before I sign off tho'....

I've made a start on sorting out the Cd's !! Yep - at long last, I'm working on putting the Cd's into some kind of order..... it's only taken me 6 years, since I started making the list, but.... it is only 6 years !! I've had a lot going on, in that time - sooooo.... I think that's good enough, to use as an excuse ?!

As things stand.... I've done 5 shelves, so far - which to be honest, hasn't been that many Cd's, but... it's a start !! I haven't put them, into any kind of order.... but, I've gone back to my old list & I've been using that, as a guide, to what I've got.

Once I've done that... listed them.... I can then go thru' them & put them in some kind of order. I didn't see any point in going thru' them all - if I didn't know exactly what I had, in the first place !!

I could have fitted them, back on the shelves, then found a couple more Cd's, by the same group, which would meant that, I would of had to move things around, just to make things fit !! Oh well..... there is a little bit of sense, in among my madness !! Just a little bit...... nevermind....

Tonight, I'm tuning the computer, into a local station, to listen to the guy who sent us an e-mail, after nearly 20 years of nothing. He does a radio show, so - I want to hear a bit of it. He might be Ok.... but, he was always a bit of a jerk.... sooooo.... !!

I'll give him a listen....

Right - that's a plan for tonight..... listening to the radio & sorting thru' some more Cd's. Who knows, I might do another shelf !!

Tomorrow - well.... that's going to be a bit hectic. A friend is coming around at 9am, after which we are going into town, to buy a new dryer, pick up some printer ink & various things, that I've forgotten about !! Whatever happens... life will go on & I'll be a bit poorer, come this time, tomorrow night.... ain't life great ?!

'Hotter Than The Hindenburg' !! Ho-hum...

Well "Hi" again World's !!

It's a very wet & horrid Saturday, here in England's South-West tip.... not very nice at all !! Having said that - I ain't going anywhere !! I've had a really bad night - not actually getting any sleep, until gone 4am this morning !! It's now about 1pm & I'm seriously not firing on all thrusters !!

I went into the spare room - a couple of days ago & I'm paying the price for it all now !! It's Ok our Son, saying "get rid of it" as far as his stuff is concerned - but, jerks like me, have to go in there & sort it, reading for dumping !!

The result is, I am now, officially- the World's first Human Jellyfish !! I have little or no control of my back & since the metalwork was taken out, my lower back is taking & failing to take the strain, that the metalwork, actually held in place !!

With the result, that just sitting down, is hurting like crazy - as for laying in bed - for some reason, that was worse !! I don't know..... but last night, it took, way too many pain pills, some morphine, 5 sleeping tablets - plus my 4am morning pills (hence I know I was still awake at 4am) before I finally went to sleep !! It's crazy !! It's Ok - I'll keep the  World's pharmaceutical companies, in business, all on my own !!

On Tuesday, of next week - I have to see the Consultant - sooooo, I'll let him know what is going on & we're go from there. It might be a case of getting my upper body strength back, but - in the meantime, it hurts like crazy !! Nevermind.....

As for the family....

B is upstairs, still tidying her craft cave !! She's been at it, for 3 days now - and it's all coming together !! As soon as I can get the spare room sorted, some of her stuff, the stacking tubs, can go in there..... not today tho' !! I have at least 6 or 7 boxes, ready to move - but, that's out of the question, as far as this week is concerned !!

I wish our wayward Son had agreed, to pick up the storage tab, all of this could have been avoided - but, he wants us to get rid of his stuff & that's what I have to do !! We gave him the choice, but..... it's his life & his stuff is no longer any of my concern........

As for the M & M's.... I've not seen them for a few days - it could be they're back to work, this coming week & spending their well earned spare time together.... shit, I don't blame them for that !!

Whenever I was working & had some time off, we would spend time, on the beach - 10 minutes from where we lived & just let the guys have their own fun, while we kicked back !! Happier times....

I've just realised, Archie - our youngest cat, is over to my left.... at 30 months old, he is turning into a real softy !! I've just spent some time with him - a real softy, tho' ME doesn't agree with me on that !! Their cat - Bruce - is probably the better of the 2.... but, I'll still love Archie above the 2 of them - he's my cat !!

As I type, I'm listening to Led Zeppelin's 'Hotter Than The Hindenburg' bootleg. It was recorded in Frankfurt, during the 1980 European tour & the tracks are:

This tour finished, on July 7th that year & a month or 2 later, John Bonham died.... hence the band split up, never to return, as the foursome that had taken on the World & made it their own...... one of my favourite bands, who I was lucky to see on 2 separate occasions.

This is a bootleg - don't buy boots... buy a bands official stuff & make do with that. If you do get chance, to get a bootleg... don't buy it !! That's what I say, at least..... don't buy bootlegs !!

Right - I've mentioned my plans, to sort out the Cd collection. Well - to that end, B helped me move 2 compete shelves of Cd's last night, ready to go thru' as time permits !! I have to do them, kind of quickly - as they're on the floor & taking up some space !! They have to be done !!

I've just taken a break, ME - our pretty & special Daughter has come to spend some time with us.... so, to be polite, I'm going to switch this all off & sit back....

I see I'm up around 19,000 page views !! Sooooo - I thank all of you, for taking the time, to push the total so high !! When I started this - I didn't know if anybody would read my words.... 19,000 !! "Wow !!"

The Monkees & Deep Purple... Ho-hum !!

Greetings World's !!

A happy 2016 to you all, from all around the World - I wish you all the best, all the good, that you can possibly have, come your ways !! It's about 1pm here in England - so, by now, nearly everybody should have celebrated the incoming year.... hope it all went well, for all of you !!

B & I looked out of our bedroom window, watching the fireworks, as they went off..... from here in the village, right across to South Wales & over to Glastonbury.... a goodly distance !! Luckily, the sky was clear, so we had a fantastic view !! A Great way to welcome in the New Year !!

Lets not forget - those less fortunate than ourselves..... hopefully their year, will see them have better fortune, than the past one....

As for My Wife & Dearest Friend...... B is up in her craft room, trying once again, to get on top of her bits & bobs. I'm not going to call it a mess, as I don't want a clip up around my ear !! Hopefully, she is getting on top of everything by now !!

As for me - well, I was going to put some boxes up, into the loft this morning, but.... there is always a "but".... I can barely move, mainly as I've pulled my back,doing yesterdays tidying !! Ok - I know it's a lame excuse - but, given what has gone on, with my back, this past couple of years, I thought it best, not to do too much !! Heck - it's all I've got, sooooo..... give me a break !!

I start today, on getting the Cd's in some kind of order - well, that's the plan, at least !! I don't know, where to start really !! Possibly with the discs, right here in front of me - those are the easy ones, mainly as I worked on them before - so, they should be in some sort of A-Z order. Anyhoo.... I'll see how things go !!

As for the rest of the family... well, I'm guessing the M & M's are doing Ok..... their second new year, in their own home !! It's hard to believe, how things have moved along for them.... especially with the sprog coming along in February !! Bless them both......

Just had a 'phone call, from a great friend, who lives in Bristol - wishing us both a happy new year. Bless him - a very good guy, who's wife (small w) has really hung him out to dry !! No body deserves the way he's been treated !!

Ok - I best be going - things to do & stuff like that...... nothing too exciting, just stuff, that's I've put off, sooooo - as it's a new year, I best get on with it !!
