Murphy, a moan and lots of music !!

Greetings Worlds !!

Well, it's another bright & breezy day, here in England....... I was looking out of the bedroom window, a little while ago - using the binoculars - and the view, out across the bay was really amazing !! Lots of boats, either heading up the channel, or back down & out to sea. It's kind of hard, to see... especially using my old glasses !!

When my old man passed away... quite a few years ago now... he left me some stuff, in his Will. This was very strange, for a couple of reasons really. (1) I hadn't seen him for so long, it hardly seemed worth his time, drawing up a Will & putting me in it !! (2) Not only did he leave me his binoculars - but, for some strange reason - a pair of cuff-links ?!

Anyhoo - for reasons I won't go into here... I didn't really want either of the above.... so, I politely declined & the lawyer sent them back to who ever had them, in the end. My family - the one I was born into - are a very strange bundle of people !! Oh well....... moving on.....

Thinking about my family - the above lot.... well, it always drags me down !! It's better not to think about them, I guess !!

Moving on, to my family.... The ones who I love & who surround me with sooooo much happiness & joy, well... "The Family" !!

My Wife & Dearest Friend, B.. well, she has gone down to the Dr's - as part of the group, who meet once a month & put the World to rights. She'll be back in about an hour, I guess..... tho' I'm not sure exactly when !!

Our Son, J - well, he is about... as in, it's 10.33am & he is out of
bed !! So - that's pretty good for him..... he asked if I needed anything, did some dishes & then went back up to his Hobbit Hole of a
bedroom !!

That just leaves our Daughter, ME... who, having worked yesterday & feeling a little under the weather, is still in bed..... not that I blame her one bit !! Get as much sleep as you can little girl (she is only 4 feet 11 inches tall) and enjoy the next couple of days off from work !!

So - that just leaves me.... the "old fart" of the family. I'm just sat here, typing these words & doing what I di best - listening to music !! At the moment, I'm playing Tom Petty's 'Pack Up The Plantation' live album. I bought it a few weeks ago & I keep giving it a good playing thru' - it's well good !!

I'm also doing my best to "Multi-task".... and being very silly with it - to explain....

For those of you, who have not read my words before ("Hello" - where have you been ?).... I have a few problems with my health and spend quite a bit of time, either at the Dr's - or in the hospital. Now.... my last visit (to the hospital) in November/December.... brought to my attention, the magic of the thingy called an iPod !!

I had used one before - when I stayed overnight, about 12 months ago. I had had a surgery & was expecting to come home the same night, but... well, I had to stay in the place & B loaned me hers !!

Anyways - getting back, to my last stay. I was there about 2 weeks & the iPod thingy was brilliant. In the past - I had used old tape decks & Cd decks..... but, my last stay - well, it was my first real introduction to iPod's.

So - when it became clear, that I was going back, into hospital, for another surgery.... my family, bless them, bought me an iPod "Classic".... which claimed to hold up to 40, 000 tracks - so, for the last few months... I've been loading & loading 100's of my Cd's onto the thing..... and, in a nutshell - that's what I'm doing now.... but, with a difference !!

Long term readers will know, that I collect live Allman Brothers concerts - from their web site 'Hittin' The Note'..... I'm not sure, exactly, how many I have, but it's more than a few !! Which leads onto a - sort of - problem...... As I have sooooo many concerts, which one's do I put onto the iPod ? Oh - I forgot - the iPod is called 'The Mini Egg'..... just incase you've never read my posts before !!

I've just changed the music... I'm now playing Camel's 'I Can See Your House From Here' album, from 1979 (I think).... that will soon be followed by Therion's 'Live Gothic' 2 Cd set - just to wake me up a bit !!

Back to the never ending story of what ever it is I started writing about... oh yes.. the Allman's concerts !! Because I'm a a bit of a sad git - I'm putting all of the concerts, onto the Mini Egg - then, because I have nothing better to do (until the morphine kicks in again) I'm cutting out all the shortest versions of each track !!

So - if there are 5 tracks on the thing.... I'm only keeping the longest version of each !! In a nutshell - I'm doing a "Playlist" of live Allman Brothers tracks.... using just the very longest tracks available to me !! I really am a sad git - but, it's been a bit of fun.....

It's either that, or I try and find a magic pill..... and that wouldn't be sooooo good, would it Lady B ?! Oh well - that was a very long winded way of telling you all, what I'm doing this morning !!

We've just had a bit of "light entertainment" in the form of Murphy - our neighbour's dog. J has just let him out, for a run-a-round & he always comes up to the front window, where I always try to give a biscuit of some sort. I tell you folks - this is not a dog...... I think he's part bear !!

He really is a fantastic mutt... it's a shame that he is stuck in the house -12 hours each day, unless we let him out - while P is working...... P being Murphy's owner.

B was taking Murphy for walks, everyday - but (being kind of mean)... I asked her to stop. The main reason being, it's P's dog & we were doing all of the walking !! To explain...

P's Wife left him & - at the time - he didn't know what was going to happen.... about his house, the dog.. well, everything you can think off, when that kind of shit hits the fan !! So - to help him out - we said we would look after the dog, until he got sorted..... the key word being until....

So - the months went by & P got himself together... he bought out his Wife & managed to stay living here, in our little Close, and.... well, nothing. B was still doing all the doggy walking - which wasn't sooooo bad, at the beginning, as P was working & B enjoyed the trips out across the fields. But - I started to get a little fed up... when P started going away at weekends - expecting us to look after Murphy !!

We will look after anyone, or anything - we will do what ever we can to help anyone.... but, I felt we were being taken advantage of. It might sound "nasty" - on my part.... but, it was getting a little too much, for me at least !!

Oh well.... moving on... again.....

My plans for today....... none at all !! Well, I'll probably do a few more Cd's & stuff - but, apart from that, I don't think I'm doing anything too special !! When B comes back - she might want to make a trip, into town, but - I'm not sure about that.... I know we are going in, tomorrow, at some point.... but, I don't really want to go in today !!

Oh well - I best be on my ways......... I thank you all for logging in & reading my words.... until next time..

Live Gothic & Peter Gabriel

Greetings Worlds !!

How is your bit of the Internet Universe treating you today ?!  I've only been out of bed, about an hour I guess - so, I'm just settling in..... the computer has warmed up, the music is turned down to deafening & all is good !!

I've not been outside, as yet, but it looks very misty out thru' the window..... B has gone into town, to her monthly carer's group meeting... as she left the close, she had to put her lights on - it was obviously too misty to drive with-out them today !!

Anyhoo.... as for the rest of the family.  J is here looking after me & ME is at work again today.  I sometimes get to say goodbye to her, in the mornings, as she leaves the house - but, i was too out of it today.... so, I'll see her later.

The reason, for the above, was simply down to having taken a pill, at about 4am this morning !!  To explain....

I had to go to the clinic, yesterday... and all went quite well.  the 'new' lady I'm seeing is really good - great infact.... but, at about 3 this morning, I woke up - thinking about the meeting - and I couldn't get back to sleep.... so, as I say, about 4-ish, I came down the stairs & took another pill.... that knocked me right out !!

As it was - I woke up about 7.30 & thought ME had overslept.... I was wrong, she was at work & it was me who had missed the "wake up" alarm at 6am !!  Never mind......

I was tired out tho'..... not just the clinic yesterday, but from a visit from our friends from the Church, who came over last night.  They were here until after 9pm & I was really washed out, by the time they left !!

Never mind - it was a great visit & we were told even more about the chances of our going to Temple..... which I still don't think will happen !!  Why ?... Well - I don't know really - I just don't think it's going to happen..... One thing I don't like, about this whole thing.... nobody seems to be taking into account what we feel, or want for that matter !!

We're being told what is expected of us - before we're allowed to go to Temple..... but, not one person has asked us what we expect from the Church, before we make, if we're allowed, to The Temple !!  It all seems very "one sided" at the moment.... and, hence, I don't think it will happen !!

Time will tell.... but, even now, I'm not holding my breath !!

Today - or tonight, the Missionaries are visiting... so, that will be fun.... they really are great guys !!  It will be sad to say goodbye to them, when it's their turn to leave our little area.  I'm not sure what time they are coming over... hopefully, not too late !!

Ok... over to the music of the moment... which is really loud !!

As I type, I'm playing a 2 Cd live set called 'Live Gothic' by a group called Therion and apart from what I'm listening to, I know absolutely nothing about the band !!  I saw a video of them, on the net & decided to pick up this live set by them..... so far,,,, well - it's a bit different to what I usually play - but, being a fan of Nightwish & Within Temptation... it's not too far "off the wall" as far as my likes go !!

I need to give it more time, to get used to what I'm hearing... but, so far, I'm more than happy with it.... especially as it came with a DVD of the concert... so, I can watch it, as well as listen to the Cd's !!  At some point, I'll try & find some of their studio recordings.... but, not for a day or two !!

The above came yesterday... along with the 25th anniversary 3 Cd set of Peter Gabriel's 'So' album... which I've been waiting quite a while for.  Not only does it have the re-mastered version of the studio album, but... as I've written before.... a 2 Cd live set, recorded in Athens, in 1987.  I've not played all of it, as yet, but it's pretty good..... and it replaces the old 'POV' video, so that's a bonus !!

Also, yesterday... I picked up another David Bowie Cd... this time it was his 'Heroes' album.... so, that's another tape replaced !!  When I will get around to listening to all of this music, well.... one day, I guess !!

Right, my plans for today... none at all !!

B is going to meet up with a friend, after lunch... so, I'll more or less have the house to myself all of the afternoon... so, I'm guessing the music will be blasting for a few more hours !!  I really need to put a few things into some kind of order... I seem to have Cd's all over the place again... not sooooo good really - especially as, at some point I'll wonder where everything is hiding !!

So - I guess, that's a kind of plan.... whatever I decide to do... I will away, for now at least... until next time..
