Call me Ishmael

Call me Ishmael.... hello world & welcome to my blog !

In the mid 70's a guy by the name of John Miles had this track out called 'Music' - some of you might remember it..... the lyric kind of worked for me:

"Music is my first love, it will be my last"

So there I was in my early 20's and surrounded by records & tapes, with only one love, my love of music - kind of sad really, oh well !!

Now I'm in my mid 50's and now I'm surrounded by even more tapes & cds... I sold off most of the albums years back.... BUT now I'm also surrounded by love !!

My family consists of my beautiful wife B, my son J & my pretty & special M E + a son from my first marriage C who lives somewhere out in Canada..... add to that 3 cats + 1 hamster !!

So the idea of this blog - the first one I've ever tried to do (it shows!) - is to tell you, any readers what I'm listening to, music wise, and odds and ends about what we're doing as a family.

Why ?!!

Well, I've worked out that life is pretty short and so decided to make a list of all the recordings we have here... so far it's about 3-4000 tapes & over 2500 cds... and I wanted to share what I listen to, to tell others about the collection. Plus, just once in a while, I would like someone other than B asking "What the hell are you listening to?"

I was going to start tomorrow, April 1st. Then I worked out it was 'All Fools Day' and decided not to jinx the whole project. Hence I've started today... exciting eh ?

So before I sign off for now, just wanted to share what I've been listening to this past couple of days, which is kind of spooky. Back in the 60's, the first ever lp I was given, the first I could call my own, was by the Monkees. It was called 'Headquarters' and I thought it was great !

A day or two back, I found a cassette with nothing written on it.... it turned out to be The Monkees !! Kind of weird.... it wasn't 'Headquarters', just a collection of 7 inch singles I had recorded at some point, but it was fun, not only finding it, but giving it a listen as well - pure 60's pop !!

Oh well - I will away.... 'tis Easter weekend, so if you read this, have a good one.
