Greetings World's !!
It's another Tuesday, here in a very wet & flooded South-West of England, it really has been a bad few weeks, for the people involved !!
I've not posted anything, for a few days or so - mainly as I've been a little poorly. For whatever reason, my "get up & go" has got up & left me behind. I was sat on the couch, about an hour ago... and quite honestly, I just felt like sitting there & letting the whole day go by !! I don't really know why I'm feeling like this - it's really dumb !! Oh well....
As I wrote above.... it's still really wet here about !! The "levels" are still completely underwater, the main railway link, between the Counties of Devon & Cornwall, is completely washed away &.... well, it's really a mess !!
A mess that has not been helped, with the very delayed response of the powers that be.... I'm talking about the Government & all of those in "head office" !! I - along with many many others, have not been impressed with the help that has gone "flying in" to the areas a way to the East of here - the areas where lots of people (and voters) live !! Honestly - we've had water all over the place, for months now and very little help has gone this way..... suddenly, the areas closer to London get flooded & everybody get's their wellies on, to appear good for the various members o the press !! It really stinks !!
On a slightly "funny" note... to see a bunch of RSPCA (I think) people, fully kitted out.... with all of their "life saving" gear - to rescue animals, well... that was really funny !! I know they are all doing a great job... helping to rescue Rover & Fido - but, honestly - were the crash helmets & all of the kit really necessary !! They had more gear on, than the people doing the other stuff !!
There are farmers, here on the levels, who have livestock in trouble - and the guys get all of their rescue stuff on, to help find some persons cat or dog, in a leafy suburbs.... Come on - get the help where it is really needed !!
On a very sad note - a guy was found dead, here in the village. We have an idea, who it might be, but.... as yet, it's not been officially given, as to what his name actually is. Unfortunately, he was found in the little brook, that runs down thru' the centre of the village.... our prayers & thoughts go out to his family.
Staying with family..... I'm home alone, for a while at least.
B has just gone out, to her Tuesday "weight-watchers" meeting.... ME is spending the day with her Sister-in-law (I guess !!) and J is still over in Wales, at Uni...... so, apart from the cats, that just leaves me, here in the nice warm house, typing this words & listening to Led
Zeppelin !!
It's actually a 4 Cd set.... which I put together, a few years ago.... It has 50 tracks on it and, if I remember rightly - was the top 50 Zeppelin tracks, as voted by members of the public, for some magazine or another !! I can't remember exactly which one it was - it was quite a few years ago now & my brain only goes back so far !!
I'm really pleased with it (the Cd's)... mainly as I thought the discs didn't play anymore !! I just have this vague memory of the blooming things skipping around & missing various tracks... oh well - I should of played them before, I guess !!
Despite feeling like crap, for the last few days... it's been a fantastic week for music & the collection !! I've had several new albums reach me and most of them have been really great to listen to - especially the 2 Cd set of 'Shout' by Gov't Mule !! It's been out, for quite a few months now... but, I only got around to getting a copy now !! The tracks are:
Cd 1
1) World Boss
2) No Reward
3) Whisper Your Soul
4) Captured
5) Scared To Live
6) Stoop So Low
7) Forsaken Savior
8) Done Got Wise
9) When The World Gets Small
10) Funny Little Tragedy
11) Bring On The Music
Cd 2
1) World Boss - with Ben Harper
2) Funny Little Tragedy - with Elvis Costello
3) Stoop So Low - with Dr John
4) Captured - with Jim James
5) Whisper In Your Soul - with Grace Potter
6) Scared To Live - with Toots Hibbert
7) No Reward - with Glen Hughes
8) Bring On The Music - with Ty Taylor
9) Forsaken Savior - with Dave Mathews
10) Done Got Wise - with Miles Kennedy
11) When The World Gets Small - Steve Winwood
I've been playing this, for most of the day & it really has got me on a hook !! It's been a great listen, it really has.... added to some other stuff - like Gregg Allman's first solo alum 'Laid Back' - 'Deja Voodoo... another Gov't Mule set... and, as it's in front of me (to remind me) AC/DC's soundtrack to 'Iron Man 2' !! I know - it's a bit heavier than a usually listen to, but - it's all music folks !!
I really have to spend an hour or so, sorting out me computer table... it's just full of junk & Cd's - some of which seem to be collecting dust, as they've been laying here so long !! No really... I've got to sort them out... and soon !! Oh well.... I'm enjoying listen to this old collection tho' - I really wish I had played it earlier !!
Just back to my health - or general lack of it.....
I've had a letter, to go down to Exeter (again) to see the second plastic surgeon, unfortunately, it's not until March 19th... or there about !! So... I will have to put up with this hole in my back a while longer, I guess !! Mind you - it might have healed up, on it's own by then, the way things are going !! I don't mind really... just as long the bloody pain would go away !! It is getting way beyond a joke now, it really has got too much to handle, at times !!
My local doctor is being pretty good & has increased my med's a little bit, to try & get thru' the worse of it, but.... I'm just getting very fed up with the whole thing really !! Nevermind, life goes on & on & on !!
Before it goes on too far....
I have another album, the ones I've been writing about, that have had some effect or another, on my life. This time it's Queenryche's 'The Warning'. To explain....
Back in 1984, my late Brother-in-Law was over from the islands and wanted to take in a couple of concerts, while he was here. I think, mainly as it was a long time ago... we went to Iron Maiden & Dio. I'm pretty certain we saw some others, but those two come to mind...
Anyways - the support band, for Dio was Queensryche... and to be honest, we were not that impressed by them !! I seem to remember that the singer - Geoff Tate - reminded us of an over animated, hard rock, version of Gary Glitter !! Not to matter....
A few weeks later, I was in one of the local pubs & either my Ex, or my good self, won a free album, thru' one of the local stores. These were the days, when you could still get fairly good albums, thru' the bigger stores - not so now.... nevermind.
We went looking & 'The Warning' was on one of the shelves & - as it was free - we picked it up.... not really expecting too much !! The tracks are:
1) Warning
2) En Force
3) Deliverance
4) No Sanctuary
5) N M 156
6) Take Hold Of The Flame
7) Before The Storm
8) Child Of Fire
9) Roads To Madness
I don't know exactly what it was about the album - but, over the years, it has become one of my favourites !! 'Take Hold Of The Flame' & 'Roads To Madness' have to be somewhere in my top 100 tracks of all time !! That may not sound like much - but we have thousands of tracks to choose from... so, 100 is pretty good really !!
I put the thing, onto cassette & played it to death while driving to & fro' work.... and it has lead to me buying nearly all of there releases to date !! I admit - I've not bought the latest offering.... but, there are so many albums out there & only so many hours in the day to listen to the music I already have !!
If you find it & have a spare 40 minutes to spare, give it a listen - it still holds up, as far as being a bit of rock...... I like it anyhoo !!
Right - I must be on my ways.... I have no plans at all, for how I'm spending the rest of the night - but, it's going to be nice & peaceful & that's for sure !! Thank you for logging in... until next time...
Bye Bye
