Jethro Tull 'Nothing Is Easy' Ho-hum.

Greetings World !!

I hope you're all doing well ? A special "Hello" to my reader in the Ukraine !! I hope you are doing well ? You - as with all of my readers - can drop me a line, via my comments section.... it's always good to get feedback from you all !!

Anyways.... it's another Tuesday, here in England's South-West corner.... and, as it's a Tuesday, I'm home alone for a couple of hours, as B - My Wife & Dearest Friend - has gone out to her weight-watchers class.

Ok, I know it's not called 'weight-watchers' at the moment... but, she has gone out to her meeting. We were talking about how much she has lost, this week, weight wise. I've gone for a couple of pounds, but she doesn't think she has lost anything at all !! I hope I'm right.... it would be a bit soul destroying, if she has not lost anything !! Oh well - I'll find out in a couple of hours, I guess.

Not to worry.... the amount of effort, that she has put into sorting out her craft cave, today - I think she has to have lost 10 pounds, just on the amount of work she has put in !!

Tomorrow, all being well, we'll attack some more of the loft space... that should be fun, working ourselves around the spider webs & everything. I'll take a brush up there & attack the blooming things...... they're everywhere !! Nevermind.

While B has been busy, upstairs... I've just been sat down here, listening to music & taking things nice & easy. I would say, I've been lazy - but... I've done all of the dishes, tidied around the living room & stuff like that.... while the music has been playing !!

As for the music...

Well, I've decided to "modify" the Page & Plant 'Celebration Days' 4 Cd set, that I mentioned, yesterday, I think. I thought, as it's only 200 minutes long, I might try & fit it onto 3 Cd's... instead of the 4 it's currently on.

Well.... that was the plan, at least. I've spent the afternoon, listening to it.... and yes, it can be altered to fit the 3 Cd format, but - I'm not sure if I'm going to bother or not. It's one of those "time will tell" type of things, that I might get around to...... not today tho' !!

Staying with music...

Last Saturday night - from Midnight, right thru' to 8am...honestly... BBC Radio 3 played, what is claimed to have been, their longest ever live broadcast, of a single piece of music.... all 8 hours of it !! The title of this opus was, un-surprisingly called 'Sleep' & was written by Max Richter. I managed to put it all, onto one DVD... but, as yet, I've only heard the first hour or so......` it's really interesting, if a little boring !!

The BBC has written, that the composer will not mind, if people nod off, while listening to it & he calls it "a lullaby for a frenetic World"...... good for him I say !! It certainly the longest bit of recording, of a single bit of music, that I have ever come across - even if I haven't managed to get past the whole "boring" bit. It's all good & that's a fact !!

... & while still with music...

As I type, I'm listening to Jethro Tull's 1970 'Isle If Wight Festival' performance.... it came out officially, in 2004 and it beats the pants off the old bootleg recordings of the same show !! It's worth a listen, if you get the chance.... the tracks are:

1) My Sunday Feeling
2) My God
3) With You There To Help Me
4) To Cry You A Song
5) Dharma For One
6) Nothing Is Easy
7) We Used To Know/ For a Thousand Mothers

To this day, I don't know if this is a complete copy of the concert...... it seems a little tight, just having a 60 minutes of the show. I know some bands, used to go on & get off stage, in under an hour.... it just seems a little bit on the short side !! Oh well... at least Hendrix played longer, when he followed them !!

Right - that's enough tonight.... I have to be on my ways.

As always, I thank you for logging in & reading my words - if on purpose, or by accident. It's good to know you're "out there" in Internet space, some place or another...... until next time...

Bye Bye

Page & Plant Japan 1996....ho-hum.

Greetings World's !!

I hope your bit of the Universe is treating you well ?! Did any of you see the "Blood Moon" last night ? I had great plans - but, once it got to the point, that my aches & pains were spoiling things, I invested in a couple more sleepers & went off to Noddy Land !! I would of liked, to have seen it (again) - but, in the end, the drugs took over & I was out of it !!

B - My Wife & Dearest Friend - told me, that she saw it & looked pretty special...... as it should !! After all - the Moon is on it's closest approach & to have an eclipse at the same time.... that is special & not to be forgotten !! Unless, like me, you slept thru' it all.... Ho-hum

Anyways... back to B..... who has driven into town, for a meeting & a small grocery shop. It's got to the point, where the fridge is getting empty, soooooo.... a few foody things are needed. She will be back, all going well, in a few hours. Just time enough for me to write these few words !!

I've not written anything, since Friday (I think) - so, I can fill you in on our quiet weekend !! Well - sort of quiet.........................

On Saturday, the Church Missionaries came over, for a visit. They timed it just right - B was just doing a "Mass baking" type of thing...... so, that had a few, right out of the oven, cookies !! They really did like them & why not ?! B makes some great cakes & cookies...... as I say "Why not" !!

Bless them, they've agreed to help us, next Saturday, to take a chest of drawers, up to the spare room. It's too heavy, for your's truly, to lift & B can't do it on her own, so, the guys are going to help us out !!

I'll remove the actual drawers, to lighten the load.... but, hopefully it will get done, this coming weekend. I also have to make a space in the spare room, but that's just a small problem.... well, kind of small, depending how you look at it all ?!

I have been struggling, with putting things, up into the loft. There is plenty of room, up there..... but, my bionic back doesn't help too much. Nevermind - I'll get everything done, by Saturday morning & when the lads get here, they can do the heavier lifting. They always ask, if they can do anything for us...... sooooo.....

While they were here, ME paid us a visit......... I really love the M & M's & they always brighten my days !! ME came on her own, this time, as M was off at a gaming thing, I believe in or just outside of Birmingham.

I think he had a good time, tho' the food was expensive. It always is, at these type of things - they have a captured audience & they really jack up the prices !! Oh well.......

Anyhoo - the Elders left, coming back next Saturday & ME left an hour or so later. I'm happy to say, her "bump" is showing really well...... I love my Daughter & her partner..... I am sooooo happy, that they are having their first child !! Bless them both - they are making me sooooo happy, I can't put it into words !!

Right, the music of the moment !!

As I type, I'm listening to a Page & Plant bootleg, called 'Celebration Days' - not to be confused with the official Led Zeppelin 'Celebration Day' live set, that came out in 2012. I should also add - that you must not pay for any bootleg !! Ok - I know, that some recordings are never released, by various bands..... but, buy the official stuff, not bootlegs !!

Back to the one I'm listening to.....

It's a 4 Cd set, made up of 30 tracks, recorded during the bands 1996 Japanese tour. It might sound weird, having it on 4 discs, but it does work really well, with each Cd clocking in at, around, the 50 minute mark.

The tracks are:

CD 1

  1) Wanton Song
  2) Bring It On Home
  3) Heartbreaker
  4) Ramble On
  5) Thank You
  6) Custard Pie
  7) Black Dog
  8) Tangerine
  9) The Rain Song
10) No Quarter

CD 2

1) Hurdy Gurdy Solo - When The Levee Breaks
2) Gallows Pole
3) Wonderful One
4) Going To California
5) Ten Years Gone
6) That's The Way
7) Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You

CD 3

1) Nobody's Fault But Mine
2) The song Remains The Same
3) Since I've Been Loving You
4) Whole Lotta Love
5) Tea For One
6) Friends

CD 4

1) Dancing Days
2) Yallah
3) Four Sticks
4) In The Evening
5) Kashmir
6) What Is & What Should Never B
7) Rock & Roll

Some time back, just a few years, there was a 4 Cd Neil Young bootleg..... it contained a big selection of the tracks, that Mr Young played on his 2007 or 2008 tour. I might have the dates wrong - I just remembered the shows, that came out, after his 2008 Hammersmith Apollo shows.

Anyways.... this Page & Plant 4 Cd set, is like that. The band played 31 tracks - excluding solo's & stuff like that, while in Japan - and these tracks, are represented in the collection. Including the only version of 'Ten Years Gone' and one of the few versions of 'Tea For One'. All in all - a really good collection.....

Ok - I know, that there are only 30 tracks listed & the guys played 31........ that last track just didn't fit, so - it was modified & became the box set's name 'Celebration Day(s)'...... so there you go !!

Right, as always... don't buy bootlegs, buy the official stuff !!

Ok - my plans for the rest of the day.......

At some point, B & I are meant to be heading towards Taunton, to drop off some things, that a lady needs. I think we will do that, a little later on, this afternoon, I guess. Add to that.... I've been threatening to tidy up my computer table, for a very long time - so, with B out & the music turned down to deafening, today might be the day to do it.

Anyhoo.... with my thanks, to all of you, for letting me know what you've been listening to, I will be on my ways. Thank you for logging in & taking the time, to read my words... I must away.... until next time.....

Bye Bye

'Once' & 'The Big Bang Theory' !!

Well "Greetings " World's !!

It's a very bright & Sunny Friday, here in England's South-West corner....... blue skies & vast distances - if you follow my meaning. I think Hollywood film guys used to call it "big sky" scenery...... not really sure. It is looking good outside tho' !!

A short while ago - B took me down, to have my dressings changed again..... you might have heard the screams, as the old dressing came off - or when the probe went in, to check the depth of the (still open) wound !! I think it's still around the 6-8 cm deep.... not really sure. It just hurts, when the probe goes in.... and back out again !! Oh well....

Anyhoo - it was really nice, to go outside, altho' only for a short while..... it's a warm day, what's not to like ?! Plus - there were only a couple of people, in the health centre & that's always a bonus, when - like me - you hate crowds !!

Oh yes - we had our annual "flu-jab" this morning. They hold a clinic, every year - which we avoid, if we can.... but, the nurse, this morning offered us the chance, to have the jab, with-out going to the clinic... soooooo we took it. I'll probably come down with a bug now, that's what usually happens !! Nevermind....

As for the rest of the family... well, we've not seen anybody for a couple of days.... mainly as they're all, either working or ignoring us. It's all good.... I can get by, with being ignored !!

I'm referring to our Son of course - who is going his own ways in life. To be honest, it's been sooooo long, since I last saw him, I must admit to be getting along fine with-out his bullshit !!

Plus of course - I'm sorting out his old room.... it's amazing how much crap we've been able to trash !! I'll have the biggest part of it, sorted out, done & dusted, in the next couple of weeks...... with shelves up on the walls, for all of my Cd's & a chest of drawers full of cassettes. It's taking a while - but, it's going to be a smart room, by the time I've done away with the old & put in the new !!

If all goes, the way I have it in my mind, there will be a new model railway, shooting around the room, in the new year..... well, I hope so at least !! There certainly will not be a bed for wayward members of the family - as I was once told, that boat has long gone !! Fuck I'm I say, my life will go on, for a while at least, with or with-out his crap.

I've tried to be "Mr Nice Guy" - only to have B get "F" word texts back.... your boat, your fucking life !! It sure as hell is not mine anymore.....

While I've been typing these words - I've been listening to Nightwish's 'Once' album..... the 2 Lp version. I like to dig out the vinyl version, every now & again - it really would be easier, to play the Cd... but.....

The tracks are:

Side A

1) Dark Chest Of Wonders
2) Wish I Had An Angel
3) Nemo

Side B

1) Planet Hell
2) Creek Mary's Blood
3) The Siren

Side C

1) Dead Gardens
2) Romanticide
3) Ghost Love Score

Side D

1) Koulema Tekee Taiteilijan
2) Higher Than Hope

The way I feel at the moment, I wish I had never dug it out.... too many memories, too much anger towards then person, the ass wipe, who gave it to me !! Still a good album tho'.....

Right - it's heading towards 'The Big Bang Theory' time, on TV.... so, I intend on sitting down & watching that !! It has to be my little bit of escapism, away from the pain & crap..... Ain't life good !!

I must go - take care everybody..... my thanks to you, for logging in & reading my words... until next time....

Bye Bye

Nils Lofgren & putting the World to rights !!

Well "Hi" again everybody !!

It's a cold-ish Thursday, here in England...... I'm sat here with a jumper on, trying to stop myself freezing to the keyboard !! It's not that cold.... just feels like it !!

As I type, B is across the road... having a hot drink, with one of the neighbours. It's the neighbour's birthday, today (I think) so they are just sitting down & plotting a ways to put the World to rights !!

I think B does too much, for the various neighbours.... they're starting to take her for granted & I don't go a lot on that !! For example....

.... last week, we agreed to look after Murphy, for a "couple of days" while his owner sorted himself out. Well - 2 days has turned into 2 weeks now !! I shouldn't moan - but, they do take B's good nature for granted !! Oh well.... life goes on & on....

I've just e-mailed a friend...... bless him, we really care about the guy a lot & I wish, in his case, we could do more for him !! If he needs us, he knows where we are.....

Right....

I've spent most of the morning, sitting on the couch, watching old 'Star Gate Atlantis' episodes...... it's well good, to watch them, after having them, on the shelf for countless years !! The stories still follow, the basic 12 Sci/fi stories, used in various shows, but - I've always liked 'Star Gate' & it's spin off shows.

Now - well, I'm listening to 'Old School' by Nils Lofgren..... I've not played it, for a while & It's grown on me, over the past 4 years, since it came out. The tracks are:

  1) Old School
  2) 60 Is The New 18
  3) Miss You ray
  4) Love Stumbles On
  5) Amy Joan Blues
  6) Irish Angel
  7) Ain't Too Many Of Us Left
  8) When You Were Mine
  9) Just Because You Love Me
10) Dream Big
11) Let Her Get Away
12) Why Me

The album came out in 2011 & is Nils at his best !! Well good.... go & check it out !!

Right I must go.... things to do & stuff like that. As always, thank's for logging in & reading my words.... until next time...

Bye Bye

'3 days After' & other Zeppelin stuff.. Ho-hum..

Greetings World's !!

I'm home alone, for a few hours - sooooo.... I thought I would turn the music up loud & write a few words, about how my day has gone. So far, it's been very quiet & really good !!

I've just waved "goodbye" to B... she is heading over to the next village, for her weight-watchers meeting. I think I've probably mentioned it before - but she only started a couple of weeks back... so this, tonight, will make it her 3rd visit.

It's not actually called "Weight-Watchers".... it's some other type of weight meeting, going by another brand name, altogether. Oh well... same thing tho'.... hopefully she will enjoy going ?! Time will tell, I guess.....

As for the rest of the family..... ME came over, for a couple of hours, this afternoon - that was great !! I always love it, when our daughter pays us a visit !! As I've said before - she really brightens up my
day !!

Sooooo - that's the family.....

I'm glad ME came over - it was a great excuse, for me to stop working in the spare room !! Not that I need any excuse - but, it helps..... it really does !!

The room is gradually coming together tho'....... I've managed to work my ways thru' to the closet, at the back & I've actually opened the door of the thing !! That's a first... probably in a few years !! No - I'm only joking - the door has been opened before.... just not all the ways.......

Now tho' - we can get in & throw away the junk that is hiding in there. That ranges from loads of sheets & curtains, right thru' to Lego & toy cars !! I'm not sure how & what we're going to do with all of that - probably lose it some place or another. Some one on the 'Freegle' web site, will no doubt take them off of our hands.... I hope so, at least !!

I'll deal with that lot, either later tonight... or, more likely, tomorrow. Once again - time will tell !! But, that moves me on to the music of the moment !!

I mentioned before... about how I was going thru' some old tapes, that I recorded in 1986 or '87 - I'm not 100% sure when i did them... not to worry, they were all done about then.

Anyhoo - I've been listening to them, bit by bit & a short while ago, one of the tracks was from Led Zeppelin's '3 Days After' bootleg..... one of the better recordings, that came out of their 1973 American tour.

I'm not sure, why there was one track, on the tape - mainly as the Lp never went to my ex-wife. I best explain.....

The tapes, as I may have written all ready, were made up of my favourite Lp tracks, from the albums, my ex wanted - the Zeppelin Lp was not part of that settlement !! Not to worry - the tape was on & the track was on the tape.... it reminded me of the album & I've dug out the Cd version, to give that a listen !! It's really well good...

It was recorded at the L.A. Forum & if you put it alongside 'Bonzo's Birthday Party' - it makes a really great 4 Lp set. The tracks, on the '3 D's A'  Lp set are:

Side A

1) Stairway To Heaven
2) That's The Way
3) Bron-Y-Aur

Side B

1) Moby Dick

Side C

1) Heartbreaker
2) Whole Lotta Love

Side D

1) The Ocean
2) Communication Breakdown
3) Thank You

Ok - I'm not telling you to buy bootlegs - avoid them, if you can....... but, this has always been a huge favourite of mine - mainly for the fantastic version of 'Thank You' on the 4th side !! It's really brilliant - so full of "atmosphere" it's hard to describe !!

If you own a copy of the Lp - it's worth a small fortune to Zep collectors........ it's not the greatest live recording in the World - but, it's always been one of the best, that I have here in our collection.

Oh - I forgot.... tracks 2 & 3 on 'Side A' are from the band's 'Live On Blueberry Hill' concert - from September 4th 1970.... just 3 years earlier !! It's all good tho' - just don't buy bootlegs !!

Right - I best be on my ways.... things to do & stuff like that !! Not much.... infact, very little... but, I must get on with it all !! Sooooo - I'm away for now...

I thank you all, for taking the time to log in & read my words... from Germany, thru' Portugal & other countries around the World.... thank you for your time !! Maybe you can let me know what you're listening to.... until next time...

Bye Bye

'Storytime' & 'Interstellar' Ho-hum...

"Hi" again World's !!

It's pushing towards 4pm here in England's South-West corner...... I should point out, that it's another Monday here. I'm not sure what time or day it is with you, when you get to read these words.... but, I hope you're all doing well. I suppose it depends on where you live - your Universe might be shit.... but, hang in there - things will get better !!

Out side, it's a bit weird... one minute, it's pouring with rain, then the next, the Sun pops out, from behind which ever cloud it's been hiding behind !! A little earlier, B & I went into town.... one second it's hot & we're driving with the windows down & the next, it's colder, with the Sun hiding behind a bloody cloud !! Oh well..... at least we did everything we needed to do, with out getting wet !!

Talking of My Wife & Dearest Friend... she is over to the left of me, reading one of her craft magazines. I know there was one, that she wanted - but, at £10, she put off buying it. I always say - buy the things, when you see them - or else you might lose it all together !! Bless her... I'll pick it up, the next time I see it on the shelves, I'll see how things go.....

Going back, to the wee hours of the morning.... B had a 'phone call from a neighbour, who wasn't feeling too good. To cut a long story short, an ambulance came out & B went with her, into the hospital, in Taunton.

I'm not 100% sure what was wrong.... but, the neighbour is home now, soooooo - it wasn't anything too serious..... altho' B is paying the price now for not having a full nights sleep !! Oh well.... that's what neighbours do, when there is a problem. Well - that's what neighbours are supposed to do !! Ho-hum...

Going back a couple of days .....I was hoping, on Saturday, to have gone to the record fair - mentioned in an earlier post (or 2) - but, it never happened. Unfortunately, spending  £136.50 on Smudge - our oldest cat - at the vets.... well, that put an end to those plans !! Nevermind.... I'll try & go to the next fair..... wherever that might turn out to be. Time will tell.....

Back to the family...

As mentioned, B is here with me.... as for the M & M's - well, I guess they're both working. T'm not really sure about that ?! We'll see them, when they have some spare time.... either here or in town.

Going back, to music...... I've had 3 things in the post today !! The first 2..... well, they're both by Nightwish & are basically the same thing, just in different formats. One is Cd & the other a 10 inch white vinyl version of their 'Storytime' single. Each has the same 3 tracks - all versions of 'Storytime' - and all really great items for the collection.

The other Cd, that came, is the soundtrack, to the film 'Interstellar' & is brilliant !! Not only, is the music well good.... but, the whole package is brilliantly put together.

The Cd has a star chart, printed onto it - with the sleeve having a 'Star Wheel' type of thing, which means you can turn the Cd & get the position of various stars, depending on the time of year & time of day !! Well good !!

The tracks are:

  1) Dreaming Of The Crash
  2) Cornfield Chase
  3) Dust
  4) Day One
  5) Stay
  6) Message From Home
  7) The Wormhole
  8) Mountains
  9) Afraid Of Time
10) A Place Among The Stars
11) Running Out
12) I'm Going Home
13) Coward
14) Detach
15) S.T.A.Y.
16) Where We're Going

It's a good film, to go & watch.... this Cd makes it all a little be more interesting - well good !! I've done really well, getting a bundle of new Cd's & albums.... over the last couple of weeks...... I need to slow down a bit now - well, just a bit !!

Right... my plans for the rest of the day...

None at all !!

I need to sort out a bunch of things, in the spare room...... just so that we can actually get to a storage closet, that's in there. At the moment, there is stuff all over the place !! Since I took the bookcase out, that's made it a bit easier - but, I need to finish the job..... hopefully, by tomorrow afternoon.

As I told the nurse, this morning - I'm not feeling too brilliant.... I didn't let her change my dressings, because I felt poorly.... but, tomorrow, hopefully, I will be able to crack on with it !!

Right, I must go !! I thank you for logging in & reading my words.... I thank you all, for your time & everything that goes along with it.... until next time...

'Sunshine' & 'Restoration' Ho-hum !!

Greetings World's !!

It's a very warm & humid Saturday, here in England's South-West corner...... I'm not sure if it's that hot - but, we've been working hard, today, trying to make the best of a bad job, in what is now, the spare room. Honestly - where half of the stuff there, came from, I've no idea !!

Anyways - we've had enough for today & as I type, My Wife & Dearest Friend - B - is sat over to my left, below the open window, doing a bit of knitting or whatever it's called. It's going to be an over blanket, for our bed...... so, I guess it's crochet rather than knitting ?!

She did one, for the M & M's.... so, I asked if we could have one. The difference is in the colour - their's was mostly light purple.... ours is mostly blues, in one shade or another. It's nearly finished.... looks good !!

As mentioned above - we've been upstairs, trying to tidy everything up.... one heck of a job, even taking it in stages !! I did manage to get rid of one bookcase.... unfortunately, the 600+ cassette tapes, that were on it, are now living on the bed !! My plan is... at some point... is to put them, bit by bit, into the chest of drawers, that lives in the room.

I'm not sure, just how many tapes it will hold.... but, it's all good - it will work out in the end - I hope !! It's either put them, in the drawers, or stick them on the shelves, that are in various stages of creation.

Believe it or not - the 2 places, in town, that I'm buying the parts from, to put the shelves together, are both closing in the next couple of months !! That leaves me with next to no time, to get everything.

Given the cost, of the materials, I can only buy so much, at one time.... so, hopefully, I'll have it all, before they both shut for good. So much for the Government's claims, that things are getting better !!

Oh well - if all goes well... I'll have a bit of room, to store a bundle of Cd's. It'll depend on how many shelves I put up, I guess...... as with a lot of things I do - time will tell !! Unfortunately, the drawers are too shallow, to house the Cd's, in a ways that will be of any use. Nevermind..... life is good.

Right, it's been a couple of days, since I last put finger to keyboard - and, musically, it's been a great few days for Cd's & stuff !! To explain.... well, to try & explain.....

I asked ME to buy me an album, from a place in Germany, that was for sale on 'e-Bay' - or whatever it's called. Anyhoo - a couple of days later (Thursday) we went over to the M & M's and the Lp was waiting for me !! I couldn't believe how quick it came.... well good !!

For the whole story, go back a few days & read that post.... but, long story made short..... the album is called 'Sunshine' & is from the 'TV Movie' of the same name. Today, it would be called a "chick flick" (not a nice name).... but, apart from all of that, I have always liked the music, that went along with it !!

Sooooo - after many Moons, I finally have a copy of the album.... given it's age, it's in really great condition - really, really great condition !! I won't bother you, with all of the tracks.... but, you can check them out on the 'net.

Add to the above.... I also had a copy of an album, by the Allman's. My thanks to a friend for that one - I wasn't expecting to get a copy for a while yet, sooooo it was a nice surprise, to have it waiting for me, yesterday !!

The album's called 'Restoration' and is from their October 31st 1986 concert at the MSG's in New York.... the tracks are:

1) Midnight Rider
2) Blue Sky
3) One Way Out
4) Statesboro Blues
5) Southbound
6) Jessica
7) Good Lovin'
8) Key To The Highway

There are a couple of guests playing along... Paul Butterfield, Carlos Santana etc etc... and it's really a great concert recording. I'm not sure how legit it is, but ?! Try & check it out, I think you'll enjoy it !!

Right - I must go...... I am a bit knackered & I need to chill-ax for while !! I was going to have a little go (again) at the spare room, but... I can't be bothered. I've had enough for today !!

As always, I thank you for logging in & reading my words... it's good to know you're "out there"...until next time...

Pink Floyd & Smudge the cat !!

Good afternoon all !!

I wasn't going to write anything today - mainly as I'm knackered from lack of sleep, last night + we've had a very hectic day, doing this, that & the other.... but - I thought, "why not" and here I am !!

It's a little after 6pm & B is in bed already.... she is feeling a little crocked & decided to have a very early night. Not that I blame her - it's no fun having a headache, on top of being tired out as well.....

We were both down here, in the living room, in the small hours, having a drink.... mainly as neither of us were feeling too brilliant !! Oh well..... I'll be heading towards bed, myself, in a little while......

As for the rest of the family... well, we've not seen anyone today. We did go around to the M & M's place, a little earlier, to drop off a package & to leave a little note. Apart from that - we've seen no one at all !!

The main reason - for being in town, really early this morning, was to take Smudge, our oldest moggy, to the vets. "Wow" - that was an expensive few minutes !!

All in all, it came to £136.50 !! But - the good news is, after a quick once over & a couple of blood tests.... he is fine - just old & knackered - a bit like me, really !!

I told the vet, from the outset - I was not going to have anything major done, to him.... no big surgeries, or stuff like that. She seemed to understand - after all, he is 13 years old & we - B & I - did not want him to go thru' too much, given his age & stuff.

We were worried, because he had lost sooooo much weight, over the last few months..... but, we're all putting it down, to something he ate - maybe from the fields around us (you know what cats are like) and, hopefully, he will gradually get better, fatter, as the months go on. Bless him....

His blood tests, showed no sign of infection or trouble like that... so, life is good - all 9 of them, depending how many he has used up !! It was worth the cash tho' - just to have him looked at & to have the "all clear" so to speak !!

Right - before I go... the music of the moment... well, it's just been 3 tracks, from Pink Floyd's Wembley November 16th 1974 concert. They are:

1) Shine On You Crazy Diamond
2) Raving & Drooling
3) You've Got To Be Crazy

They were released on Floyd's re-issue of 'Wish You Were Here' album.... well, one of them, at least !! There have been a few of them now & that's a fact.... oh well...... more about that concert, another day.

For now, I will away..... things to do & stuff like that !! I thank you all, for logging in & reading my words.... until next time...

Gary Richrath RIP

Hi again..

I forgot to mention the death, at the age of 65, of R.E.O. Speed Wagon's Gary Richrath. If you knew the bands out put, over the years, they were one of those live acts, not to mention, studio bands, that we all loved to hear !! A great loss....

.... until next time....

Bye Bye

A cold & wet day... with music !!

Well "Hi" again everybody !!

It's been a very wet & nasty Tuesday, here in England... I think it has stopped raining, for the time being - but, I ain't going outside, just to check !! The heating is on & I'm nice & warm, just where I am, thank you very much !!

As I type, B has just left the house, for a couple of hours - to attend a "new" weight-watchers class..... she started last week & tonight will be her first "proper" visit. Hopefully, she has lost a few pounds, if nothing else, to giver her a boost & a reason to attend further sessions. Time will tel on that one, I guess...

We had a lovely afternoon, just sitting here, watching TV & chewing the fat, with our Daughter ME, who made a surprise visit. It's always great to see her... she makes my day, whenever she pops in !!

I'm glad to say, she is doing well.... our first Grandchild id doing well.... we actually heard a recording of the heartbeat, today !! Brilliant - really brilliant !! I'm going to be an 'official' Grandfather !! That's really cool..... !!

She left, about the same time as B... both were heading that ways. I hope they both had a safe journey. The road between here & town is pretty bad - just yesterday, we saw the wreckage of another car smash, littering the roadways. It's a nasty bit of road... it really is.

Anyhoo - with the house, all to myself.... the music is well loud & beating away to my delight !! Once again - it's an Allman Brothers concert - this time, one of the earliest ones, that I ever bought on the 'instant live' type thing. The tracks are:

CD 1

1) Don't Keep Me Wondering
2) Done Somebody Wrong
3) Come & Go Blues
4) Woman Across The River
5) Gambler's Roll
6) Soulshine
7) Who's Been Talking
8) Don't Think Twice

CD 2

1) Old Before My Time
2) Wasted Words
3) Instrumental Illness
4) Into The Mystic

CD 3

1) Dreams
2) Whipping Post
3) One Way Out

It was recorded in the Alltel Pavilion at Walnut Creek, Raleigh NC. on 10th August 2003...... just a while after the bands 'Hittin' The Note' album. It's a really great live set & shows how good the band could be "on the night" !! Well good !!

I was going to play a show, from the previous night - but, I got my boxes mixed up...... nevermind !! Maybe tomorrow...

Actually - it won't be tomorrow - we're going out for the day... well, doing a bit of this, that & the other.... sooooo I probably won't get around to it !! nevermind - it's going to be a good day, no matter what happens really...

If & it's a big if... the rain holds off, on Thursday, we're thinking of making a trip to the seaside !! That might sound dumb & to be honest, it probably is.... but, we've not been to this particular town, in a while, sooooo we thought we would give it a go !! I will let you know, how thing turn out....

No matter what - on Saturday, I'm heading towards the 'City of Wells' - for the record fair. I missed the last one, in Exeter, so I'm looking forward to this trip & meeting up with some friends, seeing what's new & stuff like that !! I'll enjoy myself - even if it's pouring with rain at the time !!

B knows her ways around the city - so it should be alright, especially if we can park close by... that would be a bonus !! I shall take some cash & enjoy myself, with whatever I can find.... tho' - I will take better notice this time around !!

Last time - I picked up a "new" Roky Erickson album, only to find it was one of his old ones, just glossed up a bit.... a bummer really. No biggy, I think I gave the M & M's the old one - tho' I can't really remember !! I will just have to watch what I'm buying this time around... ho-hum !!

Talking about old & new...

We - it seems - have a new Bishop, in the Church we "attend" in Taunton !! We found out, via the dreaded Facebook, this morning !! I know the man, who has been - shall we say - "promoted" ....Time will tell, on how things will turn out, with regards to our views on the local Church & how it's run.

Actually - The Church is run, just fine.... it all depends on how we feel, - the ways we are treated, with-in The Church !! It's hard to be a firm Church member, when, after spending months and now years sick, we've had sooooo little help, from The Church, that we've become disenchanted with the whole thing !!

I personally love The Church.... but !! It's very hard work, at times..... and I'm very fed up, with the lack of help, that B has been given, when I've been away, in hospital & she has been left "home alone" !! Oh well....

I must go... things to do & stuff like that....Thank you for logging in & reading my words... I will return in a couple of days... until next time...

Bye Bye

Old tapes & old thoughts...

Hi again World's !!

It's a very wet, cold day here in England's South-West corner... really nasty out there !! B & I went into town, a little earlier & it wasn't very nice at all. We only went as far as the supermarket - but, it was cold enough to let you know, "Winter is coming".... where have I heard that before ?!

Talking of My Wife & Dearest Friend - B is sat over to my left, reading one of the mags, that she bought last week. I think she feels the cold, worse than I do..... well, I know she does, bless her.

Anyhoo - I wasn't going to write, today... but, I've had 2 bits of news.... one surprising, one not so much. To explain....

During my last stay, in the hospital... well, the day I left actually, I made a complaint.... sorry, I got that wrong.... B made a complaint, because of an incident, that happened to me. I won't bother you with all the details, but... "we" made a complaint.

It's taken until, today to get a response... and, guess what - my complaint has been found un-proven !! There is no evidence, to back up my complaint & the 'phone call, that came earlier, was to tell me as much.

To be honest - I wasn't surprised... If you make a complaint & the people, that you're making the complaint against, investigate it - well, are they going to find themselves "guilty" ?! Of course not... don't be so naive to even think as much !!

Sooooo - that was the un-surprising news...... in future, I'll get my lawyer involved & let him sue their asses !! That might work.... but, this whole thing, does leave me, with a problem.

I'm due back, into the same hospital & I'm not feeling too kindly, to going back in there & having the same people look after me. After all - I've just told some one, that I wish to complain & now, those same people, are going to look out for me..... Yep - I'm not too happy about that !! I'll think it all over....

.... I wasn't feeling too keen, on the next surgery anyways.... so, time will tell on that one, I guess. I will let you know !! As for the other news...

Well - I finally heard from my Brother !! It's only been a couple of years, but - what's that between family ?! To be honest, it was a big surprise.... I hadn't heard from him, in a goodly number of years, really. But - I had contacted him, to let him know the M & M's were expecting their first baby & that was a while ago now. I'm surprised he actually got back in touch at all ?! Oh well... life goes on.... and on... and on.. !!

As for the music of the moment.... I'm playing back a couple of Cd's I recorded last night..... to explain.

Many many Moons ago - recorded a C 90 tape, with the stuff I was listening to, at the time.... it was/is this tape, that I recorded onto Cd last night. It's all a bit weird, listening to all of these tracks now, mainly as soooooo much time has passed on, since I recorded the tape !!

I'm not really sure, when I recorded the tape.... but, I'm guessing around a few decades ago..... I'm not joking !! It's one thing, to record these things, to play in the car... but, to hear them back, after all this time .... "Wow" !! It's a little mind blowing.... so to speak !!

The tracks are:

Side A

  1) Intro: Fanfare For the Common Man - E.L.P.
  2) Tie Your Mother Down - Queen
  3) Heart Of The Sunrise - Yes
  4) Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who
  5) Burn - Deep Purple
  6) You Keep On Moving - Deep Purple
  7) Come & Go Blues - The Allman Brothers Band
  8) Wild Dogs - Tommy Bolin

Side B

  1) Southern Man - Neil Young
  2) C'est La Vie - E.L.P.
  3) '39 - Queen
  4) Long Distance Run-A-Round - Yes
  5) I Know What I Like - Genesis
  6) Brighton Rock - Queen
  7) Can't Lose What You Never Had - The Allman Brothers Band
  8) Sweet Drear - Jethro Tull
  9) Soldier Of Fortune - Deep Purple
10) Still You Turn Me On - E.L.P.

I guess, I'm lucky - mainly as I've always looked after my old cassettes & tapes..... I know some people have never cared to keep them, but not me !! I always knew, that one day, the tapes would be needed for this, that or the other.... and it's turned out, exactly just like that !!

This is a weird & wonderful collection tho'..... really good to hear again, after all this time !! Life is good !! I best go...

I thank you, for taking the time, to log in & read my words... it's - as always - good to know you're out there, in which ever Country you might be. Let me know what you're listening to... until next time...

Bye Bye

Gov't Mule & Star Gate Atlantis... ho-hum !!

Greetings World's !!

It's been a couple of days, since I last put finger to keyboard - I missed yesterday..... sorry about that. I wasn't being tardy - I just had a bad day + our beautiful Daughter came over & I was just happy with everything, with her being here & how she helped me !! More of that later.......

It's now a Saturday & I'm here, with B.... she is actually in the side garden, hanging some washing out. I'm not really sure why - it was raining a little while back.... oh well....

She was not in a happy mood earlier !! She had a letter, from her bank.... someone has got hold of her card details & has done a "test buy" over in America.......

By that, I mean, they used the card, to buy something small - just £5 worth. Once that had gone thru' - which it didn't (thank's to the bank) the person would of done a clear out, of B's account, the bastards !!

The problem is now, she has to wait for a new card & that could take a couple of weeks !! Bummer !! Also - she has to change some details, on stuff she gets thru' "Pay Pale".... all a bloody pain in the ass !! She feels a little happier now.... it's still a bloody pain tho' - so, if you're that person.... not that I can think you are.... look out, the bank on the case !!

Anyhoo - that was a little earlier.... she is a little happier now - mainly as there is a craft fair, in the village (which she didn't know about) and she is going along, with one of our nicer neighbours. I hope she finds something she likes !!

I mentioned above - that ME came over yesterday & really helped me out of a problem...... to explain !! To do that - I need to go back, well... many, many Moons.

There was an old film, which I thought had been a cinema release & I had searched, in vain, for years, to get the soundtrack to the thing.... with-out any luck at all !! Then - as mentioned, I had pulled out some old tapes - that was on Wednesday, soooooo check an earlier post - and one of those tapes, had a few minutes, of the s/t on one side. With me so far ?!

Anyhoo - B came up with the suggestion, of looking for the movie - on the 'net - to see if it was available, on DVD...... which it was, but only as a VHS transfer - so there was no guarantee as to the quality - but, it also turned out, that the movie was actually a TV film !!

I had always looked for it, as a movie..... hence I was looking in the wrong place. The movie was broadcast, in 1973 - so it was a lot older than I thought.... I was completely out of the "ball park", as far as my searches had been !!

Sooooo - having found out, some more details, I went looking for the s/t..... to see if it was still available & it was !! "Yippeee !!"....  This is where ME came into the picture & was able to help me out.... bless her...

I couldn't find any copies, on Cd - but on "eBay" there was a copy of the Lp, from somewhere in Germany. Unfortunately - I do not have the means, to order stuff, from the 'Bay' - but ME does & - in a  nut shell - she ordered it up for me !! Brilliant !!

Now - we're waiting on "when & if" so to speak, the thing arrives. It'll go straight to the M & M's house - mainly as it's being done in ME's account & stuff. I think it's the first thing, that I've had in this way.... tho' many years ago, I bought some film "stills" for ME & I think that was an "eBay" thingy. I can't really remember !!

I will let you know, exactly how things go - when the Lp reaches us. My plan is to put straight onto Cd... so, that might be interesting !! I will let you know.... ho-hum !!

That's for another day - the music of the moment, is another Gov't Mule live tape. This time, recorded at the Beacon Theatre, in New York on December 31st 2009 (?). I would like to think, that one day, the band would make this show available officially, but for now, I have to make do with this version.

The tracks are:

  1) Bad Little Doggie
  2) Inside, Outside Woman Blues
  3) Piece Of Your Heart
  4) Soul Sacrifice
  5) Fish Cheer - Matt Abts
  6) Dark Star
  7) Somebody To Love
  8) I Put A Spell On You
  9) Don't Do It
10) Mean Misstreater

I think that's all of the tracks - I can't really remember !! I've had a bit of a 'Mule day really..... I played the 'Stoned Mule' album, a little while ago & I'm hoping to play 'Sco-Mule' in a short while, if time permits. The latter is one that I didn't like, too much, when I got the Cd's.....but, it's grown on me, over the last few weeks.

Oh well..... it's a good day for music & that's a fact !! Maybe not so much, for The Labour Party..... they have just elected a new leader !! If things go, the way he wants, I guess The Conservative Party will stay in "power" for a good while yet !! Bit of a bummer really.... will

Right, my plans for the rest of the day.....

As mentioned, B is going out.... so, I'll be either playing music, or watching TV. There is an episode of 'Stargate Atlantis' in the DVD player & I might try & give that a go..... I've been working my ways thru' the 5 seasons, of the show, soooooo from time to time, I just chill out & watch a bit of the thing. It's all good - I just wanted something a little different to look at.....

That's about it really...... so, I better be on my ways.

I thank you for your time, logging in & reading my words. Another "Hello" to my reader in Turkey.... thank's for logging in again, or whatever you're doing !! I must go..... until next time....

Bye Bye

Iron Maiden... 'The Book Of Souls'..

Greetings World's !!

It's a warm, Thursday afternoon, here in England..... altho' - looking out of the window, there is no blue sky to be seen !! Oh well.... that's us for you !!

As I type, B - My Wife & Dearest Friend - is sat over to my left, having a cold drink of Lilt. It really is a strange day !! I'm sat here, with a jumper on, 'cause my back is hurting like mad.... yet, I'm feeling cold.... on the other hand, B is feeling the heat & is having a drink to cool off !! A strange day indeed !!

Ok - it's a little after 2pm & once again, I'm sat here, typing these words to you..... sooooo - I hope you're all having a great day ?! I see I've had a reader, over in Turkey - I'm glad to see you've taken the time to log in.... my thank's to you !!

Earlier today, we took a drive over to town, to do a bit of shopping.... I'm glad we went - I found the latest Iron Maiden album, it was only £10 - sooooo, it was bit of a bargain.... well, I think so, at least !!

It's a 2 Cd set & is called 'The Book Of Souls' - to be honest, I was surprised to see it, in the supermarket....... they only usually stock the latest 'Britain's Got (NO) Talent' winner & crap like that. I shouldn't moan - some of the people on the show, can actually sing. Unfortunately, those people are not Simon Scowl's material & get no where.... unless you're a dog of course !! Anyhoo.....

The tracks are:

CD 1

1) If Eternity Should fail
2) Speed Of Light
3) The Great Unknown
4) The Red & The Black
5) When The River Runs Deep
6) The Book Of Souls

CD 2

1) Death Or Glory
2) Shadows Of The Valley
3) Tears Of A Clown
4) The Man Of Sorrows
5) Empire Of The Clouds

I've only played it once - but.... it's well good !! The last track 'Empire Of The Clouds' is really good.... go & check it out - there are clips of it, on the 'net & will be worth your time.

It's been a while, since I went out & bought a Maiden album, shortly after it was released - but.... Actually, I think the very last one, that I bought, "hot off the press" so to speak, was more than likely their 2 Lp live album, back in the 1980's !! Hell - that was a very long time ago.....

I have bought loads of their albums, over the years - but, mainly after they've been out a while.... or, in the most part, if they're "live" albums. I do like my live music - even tho' I can not go to concerts these days.... bit of a bummer really !!

Check their stuff out.... it's not all bang, crash wallop stuff - the 3 guitar line up really does give them an edge. Give them a listen & see how you get on - hopefully you won't be too disappointed ?!

As you might have guessed - if you've only read a few of my posts.... I do like my music, sooooo - check out the stuff I've written over the last few years & see just how much, the music I listen to varies. I really am a bit of a loon, when it comes to my listening taste !!

As for the music of the moment.... I'm listening to a bit of Genesis.... from their 'Trick Of The Tail' album - see, I do listen to some weird & wonderful stuff !!

While B was out at the Zoo..... that was yesterday... I sorted out some old tapes & came across 7, that I recorded back in 1986. My ex-Wife wanted her albums, so I took the tracks, that I liked and put them onto these tapes.

So far, I've had Bryan Adams, Jackson Brown, Clifford T Ward, Rick Springfield & various others.... a great deal of which, I have replaced on Cd.... since those wild & wonderfully crap days !!

My plan, and I've tried this before, is to record the things, that I like & don't have, onto some Cd's.... it'll take a while - but, it will give me something to listen to & - hopefully - it will also take my mind off of the various pains & aches !! That's not for today tho'.....

I mentioned B went to the Zoo.... she got home relatively early last night - very tired, but full of brilliant tales of what she had seen. Much to my surprise - they still have an American Bison there !! She showed me a picture of the beast.... I can not believe it's the some one, that I saw, all of those Moons ago !!

I'm going to e-mail the Zoo & see what year this one came to be there..... just out of interest. I will let you know what they say !!

As for the rest of the family... well, I spoke with ME, a little while ago & she is coming over.... sometime tomorrow. We have an 8 socket lead, that she might want..... so, I will make sure that's here for her. Also - we have a couple of electric fires, that they might find useful, over the coming Winter - I'm not sure if she will want them, but.... they're here if they do.

That's about it, for the family at least.... M was working I guess, today - but we'll see him, as & when he has the time. They are both busy, especially with the baby on the ways !! Bless them both.....

Rod Stewart's 'Georgie' is on now - I had it as 7 inch single - it's a fantastic track.... go & check it out !! I bought a 5 Cd set, just to get this one track.... sooooo I won't need to transfer this one - a fantastic song...... one of the best that RS ever did !!

Right - I must go.... things to do & stuff like that... nothing too exciting, just stuff. Sooooo....

.... as always, I thank you for logging in & reading my words - I thank you for your time & hope you'll check back in, one day really soon.... until next time.....

Bye Bye

Led Zeppelin & some Allmans' stuff as well !!

Well "Hello" again World's !!

I've not written anything, for a few days - sorry about that.... I will try & make up for it, today - well, maybe !! I'll see how things go, I can't say I have felt too special, over the last, as mentioned, few days.... so, hang in there with me !!

I think - as far as I can remember - it's a Wednesday !! Yep... just checked.... definitely a Wednesday & I'm home alone, for the biggest part of the day. My Wife & Dearest Friend.... the lovely B... has taken herself, from this zoo, off to another one - literally !!

One of the perks, of being my Carer, is that she gets to go off - on day trips - with other Carers.... today, they have a "free-pass" to the famous (to us) Paignton Zoo, in Devon.... the next County along, if you 're interested, as to where it is, geographically.......

As a "kid" - I went there twice.... I think (it was a long time ago - last week, at least)... well, maybe longer ago than that !! All I can really remember, are 2 things...

(1) It had a model railway, around a lake &....

(2) It had the only living American Bison, that I have ever seen !! I'm guessing the poor critter is dead now, I remember it looked very sad.......... Oh well....

Anyhoo - back to B....

She left here, before 8 this morning & we have no idea, when she will be home, sooooo - I'll see her when she gets here !! In the meantime, I'm going to sit, rest up & play some music... very, very loudly !! It's going to be one of those days... I'm home alone, the amp is up to about 13 (bugger 11) and life is good !!

ME - our daughter - had the chance to go along... there were spare tickets, but she couldn't make it, unfortunately. I can just imagine the 2 ladies in my life, having a great time, with all the cuddly things !!

Oh well - I'm guessing, that I wasn't invited, because that would defeat the object of giving the carers, a day off...... taking the idiots like me, would kind of spoil things a bit !! On a good day, I'm fairly self sufficient, on a bad day.... well, I just go to bed & sleep. That's a plan, for later - if things go down hill !!

As mentioned..... I've been feeling a little unwell, over the last few days - going back, before the weekend really. Anyhoo - because of this & not really having any clue, as to why, I have felt this way. I have been resting up a bit more than normal......

The blood test, last week - showed high infection levels... Monday's of this week, had them back to a kind of "normal" level. As I say - things are all out of kilter & I have no clue, to what's going on.

Oh well - I spoke to my Dr. yesterday & we both agree, I should stay home..... out of hospital, for the time being (at least)... that's fine by me - I had no intentions of going in anyways !! The longer I can stay home, the better.....

...... I am actually wondering if to have the next surgery anyhoo !! After 2 years & 'X' number of months & days.... I am really fed up, with the whole thing. I just feel - at the moment, that I might leave things, as they are & try to make the best of things, for as long as The Lord gives me.

That sounds dramatic - but.... I've been thru' a little too much, this year alone, to put up with much more. B & I have talked about it - tho'.... at the moment, she is leaving the decision to me. Once again... time will tell.....

Moving away from all of that... to the music of the moment !!

I decided, today - as I would be alone & have enough time (and volume) to do it..... I'm transferring the last of the Led Zeppelin, so called, "bonus tracks" over to a mix Cd type of thing... to explain !!

The first 5 re-issues - the first 5 albums's bonus tracks, all fitted neatly onto 3 Cd's..... sooooo - I'm trying something like it, with the last 5 albums. Hopefully - if all goes well, it will mean, I can just play the "mix Cd's" with-out having to dig out the albums, each time.

The re-issues, altho' a bit of a waste of time & money, are all packaged up - I don't want to damage that packaging, by taking the Cd's out, every now & again. Get the idea ?

So far it's worked really well - with the first Cd having just enough room, by about 4 seconds, to fit 13 tracks !! Hopefully, the next Cd will work out, just as well & that'll be that !!

I'm listening to 'In The Evening' as I type.... always a great track !! Having seen the band perform this, at Knebworth - August 4th 1979 - the album version did not disappoint !! Mind you - I think, I had the Denmark bootlegs, before the album came out.... so, I had a better idea of how it all came together "live" !!

Thinking about it... the bootleg chain, worked really well - even back then.... long before the Internet !! If a concert was recorded - there were always people, who were prepared to share the tapes, bless them !! As always - don't buy bootlegs... buy the official albums !!

Staying with bootlegs, tho'... there is a record fair, next week !! I will try & go there - if nothing else, to meet up with some friends & see what's new. There are always people "selling" boots, at these things... especially the smaller fairs - since the bigger ones kept getting raided. I will let you know how things go.....

Also, next week - we're taking Smudge, our oldest cat, to see the vet..... the poor old bugger just gets weaker & weaker - sooooo we'll see what he says. Mind you - just to say "Hello" cost £29 - so he better say more than that !! We'll see how things go.....

We have decided, that - unless it's something small, we're not putting him thru' any of the "bigger" operations, that they can do...... but, we will bring him home & give him as much attention as we can... bless him !! He's 13 now, sooooo.... !!

Just took a short break.... I was feeling kind of knackered, sooooo I did a few dishes, to wake myself up a bit. I have not slept too well, this past couple of nights - it's catching up on me a bit now. nevermind - maybe I'll turn the music up to 14....... see how that goes !!

Going back - to yesterday - I played the Allman Brothers' 'Winterland 1973' concert... it came out, in 2013 (?) as part of the 'Brothers & Sisters' 4 Cd package. I've not played it, in a while - probably since it came out, or at least, since I was stuck in hospital in 2013........ sooooo it was great to hear it again.

The tracks are:

CD 1

  1) Introduction By Bill Graham
  2) Wasted Words
  3) Done Somebody Wrong
  4) One Way Out
  5) Stormy Monday

As I've mentioned before (sometime ago) this concert - or part of it - was broadcast, on Fluff Freeman's Saturday afternoon show.... many Moons ago. I set the spool tape deck up, to record as fast as it would go & it was well worth it !! Altho' only 60 minutes were broadcast, it was brilliant !!

Fluff died a number of years back - but, I was fortunate, to speak with him a couple of times.... a really great man, who loved his music & gave as much as he could, to us, his "music loves" !! Listen, if you can - to his intro's to ELP's 'Albert Hall 1992' official release & Zep's 25-5-1975 Earls Court concert !! Brilliant !!

Also yesterday - Lady V & Sir J sent me, or I should say, I received, issue 85 of the 'Hittin' The Note' magazine. I'm going to enjoy reading that !! Thank you guys !!

Right - I better think about closing this down. for today at least !!

The Zeppelin mix Cd's are coming to an end... with about 3 minutes to spare !! I did miss out some tracks, that I had already.... especially the Bombay stuff. I'm not a great fan of that - even tho' I have it already, on the 'Bombay 1972' boot...... Oh well....

Thank's for logging in & reading my words - as always, I thank you for your time.... it's good to know, that somebody is "out there"... until next time....

The Dentist Pt. 2 - Ho-hum....

Greetings World's !!

I hope your bit of the Universe is treating you better than where we live !! It's blowing a cold wind - which is enough to chill you, all the ways thru' to the bone.... not nice !! On top of that - My Wife & Dearest Friend - has decided to go out & cut the grass.... just incase it gets any worse. I guess, she means, incase it rains hard - or something. I don't know.....

So - as I sit, here in the living room... typing these words to you - B is out thru' the living room window, attacking the hedge !! Oh well - each to their own I guess !!

Actually - I'm being unfair !! B loves her garden.... all 4 of them... soooooo - as long as she is happy, I couldn't be more happy for her. Well, I guess I could be.... but, not today !! That was yesterday & 'The Dentist Pt. 2'

We had to return, to the dentist, to have some treatment...... me, for a fair bit & B just for a 15 minute session. Sooooo - poor old B, she hates the dentist... she really does & was dreading going back yesterday.

Anyways - as mentioned - I had to have a lot done..... mainly as the various visits to the operating room, over the last 2 years, had knocked my teeth to bits !! Each time, I would wake up - I would have lost a bit more of this tooth or that tooth.... totally crazy !! Nevermind.....

I had a 1 hour appointment - and, give my (new) dentist his due - he really did a great job !! Ok - I lost a tooth & had a few fillings, but... at the time... there was little or no pain. I came out. after 30 minutes, to let B go in.......

..... I sat there, for a very short while & then B comes back out !! It turns out - she didn't need any more work done & her appointment, should of, been cancelled..... some how, the message never made it's way to us !!

Oh well - I was really pleased for B - she hates the dentist & to get away with having no treatment.... well - you can imagine how she
felt !!

Of course - because B didn't need any work doing, it meant the guy had some spare time & I went back in & had my treatment finished !! Sooooo - we both were winners.... B didn't need work doing & I had all of my work done, in one day !! Great stuff..... I don't mind going to the dentist, I really don't !!

Anyhoo - that was yesterday.... today, where my tooth was pulled.... my mouth feels like shit, all swollen & bloated !! Nevermind... it's all good..... I'm just a little under the weather, that's all.

Right - moving onto the music of the moment....

I'm playing 'L.A. Woman' by the Doors.... one of my favourite albums, by the band. I used to have a 7 inch single, by them, with 'Riders Of The Storm' on one side & 'L.A. Woman' on the other..... it fetched quite a bit of money, when I sold up most of the vinyl !! more of that another time....

The tracks - on the album - are:

  1) The Changeling
  2) Love Her Madly
  3) Been Down So Long
  4) Cars Hiss By My Window
  5) L.A. Woman
  6) L'America
  7) Hyacinth House
  8) Crawling King Snake
  9) The WASP (Texas Radio & The Big Beat)
10) Riders Of The Storm

I fell in love with the Doors, probably after hearing them, on my Grandfather's old "steam radio". It used to pick up all of the American radio stations, that were broadcast, to the American troops in Europe & beyond..... hence, I got to hear lots of great American music, which wasn't played over here, on our old BBC !! Oh well...

The album has finished & I'm back to Nightwish & 'The Greatest Show On Earth' from their 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful' album. Once again - I'm playing the picture disc, vinyl version..... "thank's B" for letting me have a copy !!

I might pick up a copy of their on tour version, of the album.... I'm not sure, just yet. I have the 2 Lp vinyl version, plus the 2 Cd version - I'm not sure exactly why I would want the "tour version".... time will tell, I guess !!

'Endless Forms Most Beautiful' is one of the best albums, they have ever done.... it's worth your money, if you get chance to pick it up !!

Right - I best go, things to do & stuff like that...... not much, I must admit !! Anyhoo..... as always, I thank you for taking the time to log in & read my words - it's good to know you're "out there"... until next time....

Queensryche & lots of cooking...

Hi again folks !!

Is your part of the Universe treating you well, this fine & bright Thursday afternoon ?! I'm having a pretty good day, myself.... the 2 ladies in my life - My Wife & Dearest Friend, B & our Daughter, ME are here !!

It's a little before 3 & the ladies are having a cup of tea each - while watching a really brain numbing  film, staring Nicholas Cage, called 'Left Behind'. It's been on, about 30 or so minutes & it's really bad..... I can not tell you. just how crap it is - it's that bad !!

Sooooo - if it's that bad, why did I buy a copy ? Simple really.... I (kind of) like Nicholas Cage movies & it was so cheap, I couldn't resist it !! Oh well - we've just changed stations & 'The Big Band Theory' is just about to start !!

I can not resist 'Big Bang....' - sooooo that's 2 things I've not been able to resist today !! It's a good job I'm still broke-ish or else I would be buying loads of junk, everyday !! Actually - I guess, I'm like that anyways..... nevermind !! Life is going on regardless - ain't it
brilliant !!

Right - I just took a long break, to watch the above mentioned 'TBBT' double feature on the box.... both of which, I've already seen, but - nevermind, it's all good !! Now, I'm back to writing these words & listening to The Mini Egg on Black Betty. If you have no clue what I'm going on about - read some earlier posts !! I've been doing a lot of that lately !!

I started by reading the odd post - that went on to become a bit of complete madness & I read several hundreds of the things !! I mentioned, how things have changed, over the last 5 years.... it's really been an eye opener - well, to me at least !!

The one thing, that did remind me about how things have changed - that's just how many "well known" people have died over the years !! Sooooo many names, too many, far too many !! It, kind of, brought home, the whole "old age" thingy.... it really did !!

Right - enough of the whole "death" thing - on to music !!

As I type, Black Betty is blasting out Queensryche's 'The Art Of Live' DVD soundtrack.... well good !! I best point out, ME has now gone home - hence the music is on...... not that her being here, would of made a difference !! She is well aware how I enjoy listening to this, that & the other..... bless her !!

Anyhoo - at the moment, as I say - I'm playing the Queensryche album....... the tracks are:

  1) Tribe
  2) Sign Of The Times
  3) Open
  4) Losing Myself
  5) Desert Dance
  6) The Great Divide
  7) Rhythm Of Hope
  8) My Global Mind
  9) Roads To Madness
10) Della Brown
11) Breaking The Silence
12) The Needle Lies
13) Best I Can
14) Comfortably Numb
15) Won't Get Fooled Again

The last 2 tracks, are only on the DVD version of  the album - so, if you get chance, give it a listen..... it's well worth a looking at, just see Dream Theater come on stage & blast away !! I'm not going to go on about it - but, these 2 tracks were my introduction to the Dream boys.... well good !!

Last night - B & I - went into a different supermarket, in Taunton....... not one we usually visit, even tho' it's where we used to go, for month after month !! Anyways.... B bought me a Doors box set..... their first 6 studio albums, all for £13 - a real bargain !!

I've put them all on The Mini Egg, today... all in a bundle, so that they play one after another. It should be fun, to listen to - especially with the hospital stay coming up........ but - going back to yesterday.... I met up with my Consultant again.

As things stand - I'm are all set to go & have the surgery !! We have gone thru' all of the paper work & as soon as he can fit me in, we are going to go for it.... great stuff !!

We have both signed off, all the various bits of paper have been checked & double checked...... sooooo, we're all set to go !! Great stuff - I'm not exactly looking forward to it.... but, I really hope it will be the last time, that I go thru' the whole theatre & surgery shit !!

As someone said to me, it's like a lady having a baby.... the lady knows, it's going to hurt - but afterwards.... well, the pain is worth it. I know it's really going to hurt - but, if all goes well.... in the end, it should be well worth it - well, I hope so !!

The number of times, I've looked ahead - to a new year - hoping that I wouldn't be having any surgeries.... well, here's hoping I've not spoilt my luck and 2016 will be the year, that all goes well !! Here's hoping !!

Right - I must go.... I've got a sink load of dishes to do. B has been doing a whole bundle of cooking, sooooo I have to go & clean everything off - that's one of my jobs & I (kind of) enjoy myself !!

Must go - thanks for reading my words.... until next time...

Bye Bye

A box for some old Cd's & memories !!

Greetings World's !!

It's the first day of September..... the first day of Autumn, according to the weather person, this morning. Also - for the rest of the Universe, still trying to catch up - it's the first day of the 7th month of the old Roman calendar !! I just thought I would throw that in for you....

Nevermind - I hope you're all doing well..... ?! I'm feeling a little under the weather, this morning - sooooo this might not be the longest post I've ever put finger to keyboard !! I hope I can be forgiven ?!

Actually - looking at the clock.... it's about 1.30pm - so, it's hardly the morning anymore !! I've lost track of the time..... comes of going into town & doing some shopping, I guess.

I normally go, with B, into the shops, earlier than this - but.... with yesterday's 'Bank Holiday' - well, everything is messed up, just a shade !! It really is.....

Being a Tuesday - I wouldn't usually go down to the Dr's surgery, to have my dressings changed..... however - as it was shut, yesterday - I'm going down for another torture session, in an hour or so.... hence, you might hear some screaming, in a short while !! Only joking..... well, just a little !!

As mentioned - B & I went shopping.... now, as I type these words, she is upstairs doing a bit of housework. I think, she is in our room - not really sure ?! She can't really get into the spare room - as the door is pretty much blocked off, with a ladder & a few bags !! To explain.....

We've been using the ladder, to go up into our loft space.... mainly to have a sort thru' & throw things - well, some things away. So far - we've been up there twice & we've made a huge difference, in how much more room we have up there !!

Of course - the M & M's have taken away 5 or 6 bags of soft toys & dolls, that belong to ME !! As they now have a house - they can store the various odds & sods, in their loft.... or throw stuff away, if they don't want it !! Their choice.....

.... whatever, tho' - it has made a big difference to our loft & how much room we have up there. We can now go thru' what's left & either store it differently, in boxes - or take it to the dump & junk it there, in the recycling units.

The spare room is going to come together, over the coming weeks - once we've - or I should say I - have gone thru' it all & junked everything that's not wanted anymore. It should work out really well - lots of space we can use !!

I've been checking thru' various shelving prices... "Wow" what a difference in prices - from place to place !! As things stand, at the moment - I'll be using 'B & Q' to buy the stuff..... It's more expensive, but.... if I buy "cheap" & it all falls apart, I'll have wasted a load of money !! Cheap is not always best !!

I still have to check some things out, first.... hopefully, I'll get away with 10 separate shelves & from there, I can add to them, if I need to. It all depends, on how many Cd's or tapes, I can put on each shelf. Heck - I've put up sooooo many shelves, over the years - it seems weird, doing it all over !! Oh well - time will tell, on how things turn out.....

As for the music of the moment....

Well - long story, made short...... B made me a small box, to store a bunch of Cd's in. there are 56 discs, in total & are from the 'Project 87' tapes, that I transferred a while back. As I type, I'm listening to Boston's 'More Than A Feeling'...... It was the track, of the day, for January 13th 1987 !!

I'm not going to list, all of the tracks.... mainly as there are simply too many of them !! However - I'm now on 'Wish You were Here' by Pink Floyd - which was the track, of the day, on January 14th 1987 !! I'm not getting into all of this - it's going to go on forever & I can't be bothered to list them all !! Too many tracks & far too many memories...... oh yes !!

Right - I best be on my ways.... things to put away & stuff like that..... well, not that much - but, I can't sit in front of this keyboard all afternoon !!

Sooooo  I thank you all for logging in & reading my words.... it's amazing to see, that so many of you keep coming back & log into my small bit of lunacy !! I thank you for your time, sooooo... until next time....

Bye Bye
