Marillion & Other Stuff.... Ho-hum...

Greetings Worlds !!

A question..... do computers feel pain ?! I'm only asking this, because - at the moment - my little silver box, seems to have a mind of it's own & I'm thinking a mighty big hammer.... well, you can probably guess the rest !! If this thing of mine - aka the computer - has any sense at all, it will process the above few words & begin to do the very few things I ask of it !! Onwards.......

It's another bright Monday, here in England...... the music of the moment is 'Grendel' by the very underrated Marillion & is part of a tape, from Project '87 that I am recording over to Cd, as I type. I'm trying - and sadly not succeeding, in multi-tasking, this morning...... never mind !!

As mentioned... it's really bright & Sunny outside, thru' the windows. I'm not sure how warm it is, but as I have no intention of going outside, today.... I will stay here, in the warm !! The few neighbours I have seen, well... they're all wrapped up in coats - so, my plan to sat in the house seems like a great idea to me !!

As for the family..... well, My Wife & Dearest Friend - B - has gone out to do a bit of shopping & attend a meeting in the gym. She'll be home in a few hours or so. That leaves the "kids".... our Son - J - is behind me, in the kitchen, fixing the first of his many meals of the day..... kind of like a Hobbit.... Our other little one, our Daughter - ME - well, she is in bed, trying to catch up on some sleep.... mainly as she is doing a night shift this evening.

So - to try & keep the noise down... the amp is tuned right down, in the hope of not waking her up !! Mind you - I was using the headphones - which is all well & good.... until J came flying into the room, as the 'phone was ringing & - with the 'phones over my ears - I didn't hear it !! Nevermind - if it's important, they will no doubt call back !!

Anyhoo.... the weekend..... well, Sunday at least....

Once again, we didn't get to Church.... mainly this time, as i wasn't very well over Saturday night & B left me to sleep it off, for a few extra hours !! I didn't wake up until about 11am, so I was well tardy !! We will go again, at some point - we have just needed the space to get ourselves together !!

As much as I know, they - or at least some of them... the Congregation, mean well.... by 'phoning to see how we are, I'm pleased I spoke with the Bishop the other week - which in turn has set things a little easier & - thus - fewer people are calling us now !! When I am at "ease with myself" again & know a little more about what is happening, as far as the next surgery is concerned.... well, I'm sure our "Church lives" will continue !!

I've just changed the music over to a live Cd, by Emerson, Lake & Palmer, from 1972 ... recorded at 'The Mar-Y-Sol Festival'. I used to have part of the show, on an old Lp - but, a friend sent me this - much longer version - a few years back.

Talking about him (the friend).... there is another Exeter record fair, on March 17th.... which, if I'm well enough, I'll see if I can get to..... and meet up with him again. We've not seen each other, for about a year - so, it would be great to see him - and my other friends - at the fair !! Time will tell, I guess..... and we will have to wait & see how I am, nearer the time !!

Thinking about it... one of the last fairs, that we went to, in Exeter... well, we spent the night in a hotel & made a weekend of it - now, that sounds like a great idea..... tho', I don't think the money will stretch that far, this time around !! I'll see how things go - after all, it is our wedding anniversary on March 5th..... maybe I should treat ourselves to a couple days away !!

I really want to go down tho'..... it will be a great chance to meet up with R, who sells all sorts of Cd cases, at really low prices & I could really use a top up, as I've no t bought too many over the last 12 months !! It's alright buying Cd's in "towers" - but, they do need to be put into cases at some point.... so, that's where R comes in !! I'll see how B feels about is, before I decide on what to do....

There are a few things, that I know she would like, as a wedding anniversary pressy, one of which is a nice watch, she has shown me.... so, I will definitely go for that. It won't be much of a surprise - as she will be with me, when I buy it... but, I know she would like it - so, it's the thought that counts !!

Just back to music.. today's track of the day, is a blues medley, from 'The Mad Dogs & Englishmen" album, from Joe Cocker. It was on the tape I transferred earlier & it really is a fantastic track...... one of my main reasons for buying the Cd, after selling on the old Lp's !!

As I've been doing this old tapes, it has been amazing - just how many of the tracks, that I now have on Cd's !! Remember - the tapes were all recorded, from January 1st 1987 up to December 31st the same year... long before Cd's ever made it into our collection !! We didn't get our first Cd deck, until 1988..... so, everything on the tapes is either from Lp, another tape.... or, in a few instances, from a radio broadcast.

It all started out, as a joke.... now, I'm putting them onto Cd & also, for the heck of it, over to The Mini Egg. That also throws up an interesting (to me at least) little thingy.....

As I'm putting them, onto the Egg - they are all listed, as individual tracks, by the various bands or whatever. That means - once I've finished them all, I will know, for the first time, which group, person & what have you, I put on the tapes, the most !! That might sound all very sad - but, I find it really interesting.... especially as it will show just how my taste has changed over the last 25+ years !! Oh well.... it really is sad, now I've come to think about it all....... ho-hum !!

I must write an e-mail to Lady V...... if you're reading this words.... well, we have not forgotten you, honest !! A few things have come along & pushed my brain into different directions & I never seem to do the things I ought to !! Sorry about that.....

..... but, I'm really excited to know the box set will be on it's way
soon !! That is something I really will be listening to, when it gets here.... 27 shows, from one of my all time favourite bands !! Great stuff - I just wonder if B will let me have the (hoped for) 2013
box set ?! I really shouldn't even think about that - I get myself into enough trouble, as it is.... with-out giving B any more reasons to get mad at me !! Only joking... she is really great...... she is, she really
is !!

Ok, my plans for today....... well, I'm heading back to my bed, after I finish doing this little post. I'm not exactly 100% at the moment & I'm kind of hoping a sleep will make me feel a little better. It's no biggy - I'm just a little under the weather..... it happens !!

With B not due back for an hour or so - it will give me a chance to recover..... so, for now, I will be on my ways.... I thank you all for taking the time to read my words, I often wonder who you are, from what part of your countries you are reading this blog.... but, I do thank you !! I will be back, maybe tomorrow..... tho' we will have to wait & see.... until next time.....
