Oh no !! The bloody Dream Theater story again !!

Greetings World's !!

I hope you are all doing well - I'm getting over the disappointment of not having a "quick fix" surgery on my back.... but, it has brought me down, with a bump. Nevermind - on Thursday, I have to see the Consultant, who originally did my operation, sooooo we'll see what he has to suggest !! Hopefully it won't be as simple as just waiting for it to heal - that could & will take months..... given what I've had to put up with, over the last 13 months, I think I deserve more than that !! I'll let you know how all of that turns out.....

Anyhoo - this is just going to be a quick post, tonight, I've got a few things to do & I need to get on with those !! First tho' - the family !!

Tonight is B's weight-watchers evening... and, altho' she says she hasn't lost any weight... she has gone out to the meeting anyways. She will be home, somewhere about 7.30 or 8 tonight. ME - well, she is working a load of late shifts this week - so, I will be in bed, long before she gets home !! That just leaves my number one Son, J - who as you might already know, is over in Wales.... doing his Uni course.

So - that leaves me, home alone..... playing the music as load as my poor old eardrums will permit !! At the moment.... well, I'll try & explain - for new readers in particular.....

From time to time, I do little music "projects". By that, I will pick a "meaning" or maybe a date, or set of dates & do a music "project" around that.... a kind of "playlist" thing !! In days gone by - I would put together tapes..... sometimes over a whole year (check out any post, with Project 87 on it) and sometimes, as things have moved along, onto Cd's. I must admit, I've yet to do a solely iPod "project" - but, the last Cd thing, that I did a few years ago, landed up on the Mini Egg !!

What I'm doing now - well, it's going to turn out to be another Cd thing.... based around the stuff I listened to, during my 3 months in the hospital, last Summer. It's going to range from Dream Theater, to Rush, to Within Temptation & Nightwish....... plus a few things which are on my mind, but - as yet - I've not decided to include.

The last one I did, well.... that worked out at 18 Cd's in length.... I don't know just how long this one will be, probably shorter, it'll depend just how carried away I get !!

I must also... when I get chance, transfer some old tape "projects" over to Cd. There are several here, laying around, that I keep meaning to do, but - I just haven't got around to it all yet !! I will - just not yet tho' !!

This morning, for my sins - I went & saw my local Doctor, something I decided that I would never do (again) - but, I'm in trouble, with all that is going on, so he is my first port of call, when I desperately need something !! Anyways - he wasn't too happy, about what the plastic surgeon guy said, last Friday, but.... life will go on !! I just wanted to keep him, "in the loop" as it were, over what has gone on.

On Thursday - he wants me to 'phone him, when I get home from the hospital, after seeing my main Consultant. I don't know exactly what he can hope to do about anything.... I don't think he'll be in any kind of position to alter things !! Maybe he just wants me to avoid jumping off of any bridges..... that would be one way out - but, I would guess, slightly painful !! Oh well....

I'm back to the local surgery, tomorrow - as it's dressings time again !! Such a lovely thing - I will miss it, when it's all over & done with.... NOT !! If you hear screaming, off in the distance - that will be me...... take no heed, it will pass !!

I was thinking, about which album I was going to write about.... one that has changed my life, in one way or another.... But, as I was playing Dream Theater, I decided to write about a DVD..... which, I think I bought, when we were on holiday, in 2004. I will explain....

We spent 2 weeks, down in Cornwall.... and there was a pretty good music shop, in Penzance. Anyways - I picked up a DVD by Queensryche called 'The Art Of Live'.... which came out, as a follow up to their 'Tribe' Cd. I've liked the band since... well..... maybe that's for tomorrow night... but, I bought the DVD, to play in the place we had rented for the Summer weeks. The tracks are:

  1) Tribe
  2) Sign Of The Times
  3) Open
  4) Losing Myself
  5) Desert Dance
  6) The Great Divide
  7) Rhythm Of Hope
  8) My Global Mind
  9) Roads To Madness
10) Della Brown
11) Breaking The Silence
12) The Needle Lies
13) Best I Can
14) Comfortably Numb
15) Won't get Fooled Again

Anyhoo - I'm sure I've written about this before - the DVD was pretty good.... Queensryche were on top form.... and despite what has happened to them, in the last few years, the band really rocked !! But - it was the 2 encores, that got my attention !!

This group of guys just walked on stage, with the 'Ryche and tore the ass off of 2 of the greatest rock anthems in history.... and I didn't have a clue who they were !! After a bit of research - I found out, it was a band called dream Theater & - some how - I had missed their first bundle of albums.... not got !!

On our next trip, into Penzance, I picked up their 2003 album 'Train Of Thought' (the only Cd they had by them, in the store) and, from that moment onwards, I was completely hooked !! I've picked up all of their official albums & a couple of not so official things..... all worth having tho' !!

It was a weird way, to find out about a "new" group.... but, well worth it.... it's amazing what you can find, when you're not expecting it !! But - that's how I found out, about Dream Theater.... a happy experience, which I'm glad to say, has not past me by !! More another time....

Ok - my plans for tonight.... Well, I've a few dishes to wipe up... but, that's about it really !! Another quiet time in the homestead..... I must write an e-mail to Lady V + one to T & R out in Utah.... I've been a little tardy on the e-mail front lately...... slap my wrists - go on, you know you want to !!

But, for now.... I will be on my ways..... As always, I thank you all for logging in, wherever you are, around the World, it's great to know you're out there, reading my words.... I thank you all... until next time...

Bye Bye
