Greetings again World's !!
I didn't think about writing again today - but, I've just been playing a Cd, that has taken me right back to a Sunny day, in July 1974...... when I was at the first ever GB performance of the Allman Brothers band !!
The show was at Knebworth & I had driven up with 2 friends of mine, in a really battered old Riley Elf. The car had more holes in it, than a kitchen colander.... but, it eventually got us to where we wanted to go.
It might sound strange - but, apart from the Doobie Brothers, I can't remember who else was playing that day !! There were several bands on the bill - but, for the life of me, I can't think who they all were !! Nevermind - we only went because the Allman's were topping off the day & that's what mattered to me...
It was a great, warm day - I don't think it rained...... just warm Sunshine & great music...... even if things ran a little late & the band didn't get on until quite late. No matter..... I eventually managed to get a bootleg of the show & it's that Cd I'm playing as I type !!
The tracks are:
CD 1
1) Introduction
2) Wasted Words
3) Done Somebody Wrong
4) One Way Out
5) Stormy Monday
6) Midnight Rider
7) Blue Sky
8) In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed
CD 2
1) Statesboro' Blues
2) Come & Go Blues
3) Ramblin' Man
4) Trouble No More
5) Jessica
6) You Don't Love Me
CD 3
1) Les Brers In A Minor
2) Whipping Post
As usual - I'm not suggesting you go & buy a bootleg of this show - or any show, for that matter.... but, until there is an official release of this concert - I'll have to make do with what I've got !!
Just don't pay for bootlegs - they're not worth it..... Check out the 'Hittin' The Note' web site, for loads of live albums, from the band..... a great selection & worth your while to spend your time & cash !!
Just as a footnote, to the above.... on the way home, I missed my turning & the 3 of us landed up in central London, completely lost, at about 4am !! We did get ourselves out of it tho' - finding the M4 & having a long ride home !! It was a great day...... this Cd has certainly brought back the memories !!
I must go - thank you for reading my words.... until next time....
Bye Bye
