Nine Inch Nails & The Queen..... Ho-hum !!

Hi Worlds - How is your space doing today ?

It's a wet & cold day here in England.... I've not been out all week, so I do not expect to anywhere today !!

For some stupid reason - my health has gone down hill over the last week or so & it's not fun any more !!  I'm getting really fed up with myself... not being able to do things & what have you !!  Oh well, no big deal... I'll keep flapping my arms & thinking "good" thoughts !!  If nothing else, I can go back to my bed, have a sleep & dream of better days....H-hum.......

At the moment, I'm sat here alone..... I've not even got any of the cats to keep me company !!  J is upstairs, if I need anything, but I should be Ok - as for the ladies of the house, they have gone shopping in Bristol !!  They left home about 30 minutes ago, so they should be almost there........ depending on how fast ME is driving !!

It was ME's idea to go today - I don't think B was bothered, one way or the other !!  Anyhoo - ME wants to buy a dress for her "Graduation Ball".... which I think is only a couple of months away.  She has bought 2 tickets, for her & M - so, she is really looking forward to going !!  The tickets were £35 each, which I thought was a bit steep.... but, I'm told that includes a big meal as well.... so, I guess, that's not so bad !!

At the moment, she is all worked out - having done her last Uni work, pretty much every day for the last 3 years, she doesn't know what to do with herself !!  I think she will get her final results soon - so, here's hoping they will be as good as she deserves !!  She has worked hard to get to this point in her life, I hope she does well !!

Anyway - I'm here alone, typing this words & playing Nine Inch Nails as the music of the moment !! It's their 'live' Cd 'And All That Could Have Been' and I'm playing it - well, mainly as I wanted something loud, to blast the cob-webs out of my skull !!  No really, feeling like s**t, I needed something loud to keep me going this morning !!

Yesterday, all I played was Led Zeppelin & I needed a change today !!  Which, I guess, you might understand ?!  Even tho' I really like Zeppelin, I needed to change the mood a bit today !!

Talking of Zeppelin - I'm in a bit of a void at the moment, with their concerts...... I know that they played a concert, on May 9th 1969 in Edmonton, Canada.... but, I don't have any tapes of the show.... which is kind of "sad" for me, but.... I do have some coming up, so I'll write about them, as & when I get to them !!  Some of the 1973 shows, are amongst some of their most famous bootlegs.... but, that's later in the month !!

I did spend a bit of time, sorting thru' the bootleg list yesterday..... but, I need to come up with a better plan. At the moment, it's all a bit hit & miss !!  I will have to make some space & put the ones I've listed to one side.... or else I will be picking thru' the collection at random !!  I need to get it sorted tho' - everything is in a blooming mess at the moment, Cd's here, there & everywhere !!  Oh well....

I see my American reader was logged in a few minutes ago... "Hi"... I hope you are well & smiling happily at my inane muses !!  No, really.... "Hi there"..... I thank you & all of my readers for your time.  I'm not sure how many readers I have at the moment - it went thru' the 2000 mark a few weeks or so back... which is kind of weird, when you consider I don't know hardly any of you !!  I really am pleased so many of you take the time to log in.... especially as I didn't expect this amount of "readership" when I started, just over 2 years ago - I was over the moon, when I found my first reader had logged in - now... "Wow"... 2000 & counting.... I really do thank you all !!

As I type, the TV is on quiet in the corner of the room...... it's our State Opening' of Parliament today & The Queen has just reached the entrance, in her coach.  Well, I think she has - they are showing pictures of the 1937 Crown that she is going to use to day.  It's a replica of the one Queen Victoria used - but, this one was made in 1937 - I'm guessing for the Coronation of the Queen's Father ? I'm not really sure....  There is a lot of ceremony attached to all of the 'opening'..... if you don't know what I'm talking about - well, look it up some place.

It's a special year for our Queen...... it's the "Diamond Jubilee"... meaning she has been on the throne for 60 years.  With the Olympics (which I'm already fed up hearing about) & the jubilee - well, it's a big year, here in the UK !!

Today, I'm expecting a man to come & service some of my aids.  That's the stuff I need to help me here in the house.  Outside - I have my wheelchair, but I also have odds & ends here in the home, to help me from day to day.  I'm not sure when he will get here - but, as I'm not going out anywhere, he has all day to make an appearance !!  It might be the same guy who serviced my chair, a few weeks back - I'm not sure.... time will tell !!

Oh yes, yesterday, B went into town & picked me up a book from the library. It "means reading" - but, it's the 'The Three Cities Of Bells - Oxford - Wells - Ely' by Elizabeth Goudge.  Who, what, where.... you might ask, so I will try & explain.

When I was a lad (Ha-Ha) & at school, we had to read 'The Deans Watch' as part of our English class.  As it was, I never actually finished the book - I don't know why, but it fell out of the teachings at some point.  Anyhoo - I wanted to know what I missed, so B got me this book - which has 'The Deans Watch' as the 3rd part of the trilogy.  The book was published in 1960 - which in itself, is a bit strange, as the 1st 2 parts of the trilogy were published in the 1930's !!  I guess EG wanted to do another story & so here it is.

I love these old books from the library - they have a certain feels about them..... I also like to know/see when they were last taken off the shelves.  This one hasn't been 'out' for over 2 years.... so, somebody must of wanted it back then !!

The Queen has just reached Parliament..... she looks good in her finery !!  They have just raised the Royal Flag, over the building, to signify she is in attendance.  It's all very ceremonial !!

The Nine Inch Nails Cd has just come to an end....... it's now time for some Mike Oldfield !!  Not much of a change of pace there folks !!  It's the 'live' version of 'Tubular Bells 3' - which I've had for a very long time now !!

When I was in hospital in 2002, I used to play this Cd last thing at night...... to fall asleep to.  I had a Cd player & I would put this in & just "nod off" while it was playing !!  It kind of has a special place in my memory for that reason !!  I was in the hospital for just under 3 weeks at that time, so I got pretty used to hearing this, over & over !!

Right, my plans for today...... well, yesterday, I started watching the old 'Babylon 5' DVDs....Season 1.  So, today - I will just watch some more of those.  It's been a few years, since I watched them, so I'm catching up a bit !!  Apart from that & the guy coming to do the servicing.... it's going to be a quiet day.. again !!

So, once again, I thank you for your time & for reading my words.... until next time...

Bye Bye
