Pussy Riot & freedom of speech !!

Well "Hi" everybody....

Have any of you seen the film 'Blast From The Past' ? It stars Brendan Fraser and it starts in the early 1960's - when the family of the film, descend into their custom made bomb shelter, in the mistaken belief that a nuclear war had broken out.

Anyways - the Dad, in the film, loves to drink hot Dr Pepper !! I'm only bringing this up because, as I type, I have a glass of cool Dr P. beside me.... just waiting to be drunk & bringing back memories of my first taste of the stuff !!

That was in 1983 - at a concert being held at the NEC in Birmingham. The name of the place has changed, but it's one of the better concert venues - when it comes to seeing "big" bands. Anyhoo - the guys on stage - who I will not admit to actually going to see - were being sponsored by Dr P. and - as such - freebie glasses of the stuff were being given out, to anyone who wanted one...... which, in this case, meant me !!

It's amazing how memories come flying back... just because of a glass of fizzy stuff !! Oh well... moving on !!

It's a very wet & windy Monday, here in England... and I mean very wet !! There are warnings out, for floods & stuff. Luckily, that - as far as I know - will not effect us. As mentioned before - if we flood... it means that the biggest part of the village will be underwater !! It pays to live on top of a hill !!

However - I have been watching the rain water with a lot of interest.... I will explain !!

The next door neighbour - known as "The Neighbour From Hell" or NFH - has had this big extension put onto the house. I mean, it's doubled the size of their house.... anyways, part of the building work, involved some work on the garage & the concrete leading down to it..... and I mean "down" !!

So - as the rain has poured down, it has been running down towards the garage & - as far as I can see - right under the garage door & into the garage it'self !! Somebody didn't plan that very well.... and it couldn't of happened to a better person !! Oh well...... more of her later.....

First - the family !!

As I type, B is upstairs... working her ways towards the bed, in J's room !! I better explain...

B is My Wife & Dearest Friend..... and J is our Son, who for the last few months has been over in Wales, studying at Uni. B is working hard - mainly as, tomorrow, J is coming home for Christmas. In the few months, that he has been away, B has taken over his room.... and using it as a craft room. Unfortunately - the craft stuff has spread & the bed has gradually disappeared under piles of various bits &
pieces !! Anyways - that's what is going on, upstairs....

The other member of our family, is our Daughter, ME...... and, today, she is working a late shift. That means she will be home about 11pm - way past my bed time.... so, if all goes well, I'll see her in the morning !! I'll see what happen on that one....

So - that's the family... excluding the 4 cats, of course. The youngest, Archie, is helping B - as for the other 3... I think they are all out-side !! I know 2 of them asked to go out... Hang on !! My mistake - the oldest one Smudge, is a few feet away from me, asleep on the couch thingy. I honestly forgot he was there - the old bugger sort of blends into the furniture !! Nevermind... that's the family.....

As for the music of the moment... well, that's Dream Theater's 'Live At Luna Park' live album. I know, when I first got this set, I wasn't overly impressed with it - but, bit by bit, it has really grown on me !! I thought - and probably I wrote it - at the time, that it lacked something.... it probably did - but, whatever that was, it's now long forgotten !! It's a great album - and I'm glad I actually got myself a copy !!

To begin with - I was only going to buy the DVD of the show.... but, in the end, I bought the deluxe box set, which - as I've mentioned before - contained, not only the DVD's of the show, but a Blue-ray copy & the 3 live Cd's !! In the end, it's worked out to be a good buy - even tho' I don't have a Blue-ray player !! Oh well - maybe one day !!

It's been a "good day/bad day" kind of day.... as far as music is concerned !! To try & explain.

I wanted a copy of the 'Redux' version of 'Apocalypse Now' - well, the soundtrack Cd's at least.... so, I had them order. Today - in the post, the Cd's arrived - but, it's exactly the same as the old one, which came last week, or sometime a little while ago !!

So - I emailed the company & asked what was going on.... only to be told that the one I ordered didn't actually exist & it was all a big mistake etc etc !! It might have been a mistake - but, they were quite happy to take my cash.... and now, they want me to return the Cd's to them !! That's no big deal - except this time, I have to mail them back to the USA - so, it's going to work out quite expensive, time I've finished !!

Nevermind... that's the "bad day" part... the "good day" part is quite special really !! I had an email from the Within Temptation guys.... and, in February, there is a new WT album coming out !! Not only that - but, B (bless her) has let me order the deluxe version !! That - includes the regular 2 Cd's + an extra Cd, a book & a 2 LP version of the above... now, that is a bit special !! So... all in all - I think the "good day" part wins out, this time around !!

Going back, to yesterday... our friend C came around...... we've not seen him, in about 12 months !! He has really had a bad time of it.... He lost his Sister & a while ago, lost his job as well Now, that really is not the best ways to enjoy yourself !! He seems to have come thru' it all tho' - so, we're pleased to have seen him again......

The last time, that he was here. he had a blazing row with the NFH !! This time tho' - given how many vans & trucks we've had to put up with, over the last few months, she left him alone !! I think she lost the last round - so, maybe she thought better of going "at it" again, with him !! Great stuff !!

Then - later on, in the night, we had a very strange visit, from two of the ladies, in the Church !! We haven't seen anyone for months (Church wise) and then, out of the blue, two ladies show up !! They stayed a little longer than I would of liked - being as we had a houseful, with ME & boyfriend M here, but - it was a very strange
visit !! Moving right along !!

Actually - I think I'll finish there.... no I won't !!

I see on the BBC, a little earlier, that the girls from Pussy Riot have finally been released from jail !! It's about time, as well....... "freedom of speech" Mr Puck-tin... freedom of speech !!

Just listening to 'The Spirit Carries On'.... it's a great song !!

"If I die tomorrow, the spirit carries on" .....
