'Fillmore East' 6 Cd box set... Ho-hum !!

Greetings World's !!

It's been about 5 days, since I put fingers to keyboard... I don't know where all of the time has gone !! To be perfectly honest, going broke has become a bit of a pain in the ass.... and we've made quite a few trips, into town - trying to sort things out..... more of that later !!

First - the family !!

As I type - B.... My Wife & Dearest Friend... is writing a little note, to our Son... J.... to include with his post. Altho' he hasn't lived here for over a year now - his post sometimes arrives. So - B is sending it to him.... hopefully he will get it on Monday !! If you read this J... will you text Mum, when you get it your end....

As far as we know, he is still living, over in Wales..... he doesn't write too often !! Long time readers, will know, that he hates my guts.... anyhoo - that's another story. As for the other members of the clan...

The M & M's are happy.... I asked B, to take me into Taunton - on Thursday - and, as she was on a day off, we asked ME if she wanted to come along. My Daughter & a freebie shopping trip.... well.... no contest !! She really loves going around the shops - even if she doesn't buy anything !!

Afterwards - we went back to their house & I got to play with Bruce - their brilliant kitten !! He is really something.... I keep saying to her, that Archie (our kitten) & Bruce, should get together, for a play
date !! I know - it's unlikely to happen.... but, it would be fun !!

Anyhoo - that's... as far as I know, is the family !!

I mentioned how going broke, has become a bit of a pain... we seem to be going here, there & everywhere, at the moment... sorting things out !!

On Wednesday morning - we had a 'phone call... from these people, who help out, in times of trouble. Heck - I was more confused, after the call, than I was before !! Mind you - I get confused very, very easily !!

As it stands, at the moment... I have to fill out all of these forms... some in triplicate... and - much to my surprise - I have to make an appointment, to go "one on one" with a judge.... who it seems, will sort out the last bit of the paperwork !! It's all a bit crazy really.... I will no doubt forget something, or another & completely mess it up.... but, time will tell on that !!

I'll let you know, how things go..... I'm not too worried about it. If millionaires can go broke & come out of it smiling, I'm sure I can !! Onwards, ever onwards !!

My friend, from South America, has paid a visit - yesterday (I think).... I'm not completely sure !! Anyways - he's here, visiting his Mum & taking in the Robert Plant concert, in Glastonbury. I'm not sure, if that's tonight or tomorrow..... nevermind - it was great to see him again !!

I really must trust the guy... I let him leave, with a bundle of Cd's - so he can put them on his iPod thingy. I never let people loan my Cd's... but, as I'm not firing on all thrusters these days.... it will be quicker, for him to do the transfers, than for me.... I would probably forget something... so, this way.... well - he can do them, as he feels fit !!

I'm not being tight, about loaning things out.... I just had sooooo many things messed up, over the years... I make a decision, to stop all loans - that way, nothing gets damaged - unless by me !! Oh well...

I've had a great week, for new albums...... especially the treat, that reached me yesterday & is "the music of the moment" !!

It's the 6 Cd set, of the Allman Brothers shows, from the Fillmore East 1971. I'm only on Cd 2 - and they are really brilliant.... I'm not going to list all the shows.... but, the concerts revolve around the following tracks:

  1) Statesboro' Blues
  2) Trouble No More
  3) Don't Keep Me Wondering
  4) Done Somebody Wrong
  5) In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed
  6) You Don't Love Me
  7) Whipping Post
  8) Hot 'Lanta
  9) Stormy Monday
10) Midnight Rider
11) One Way Out
12) Mountain Jam
13) Drunken Hearted Boy

That's all of the tracks, featured during the various sets - tho'....the last 5 are only on a couple of times, if that. It's very complicated.... but, if you have the chance, buy a copy for yourself - you will not be too disappointed by what you get for your money !!

For me... well, as it has - maybe - 15 versions, of the tracks that I've not heard (clearly) before - this is a fantastic set !! I will probably land up, taking the Cd's out of the box & into a case, of their own.... mainly to fit them on the shelf & also, to avoid breaking the box !! Ain't life great ?!

Especially, as I have also picked up some "new" stuff, from the library, in Taunton..... I like to hear things, before buying them... so, for my sins, I have now to listen to:

Status Quo - 'The Frantic Four Re-union 2013'
Al Kooper - 'Soul Of A Man: Live' + 'Rekooperation'
Various - 'Prog Rocks'
Various - 'Dandelion'
Rolling Stones - 'Beggar's Banquet'

I might have picked some other stuff up, at the same time... I can't remember !! Nevermind... Oh... I did get a copy of 'The Very Best of Grin' - Nils Lofgren's old band... + a live show, by Neil Young. The latter, I let my friend loan, yesterday.... so,. I have yet to give that a good listen !! Oh well..... what else....

I have another list for you.... this will take a while - so, go & make yourself a cup of tea & come back later !! Anyhoo:

The magazine 'Prog' - which I thank them for - published a list, of the top 100 'Prog Rock' albums.... B bought me a copy, of the mag.... yesterday... I think. Anyways - out of the top 100, the ones that I've listed, are here - someplace & in some form !! I'm not sure how many.... but, I'm well pleased by the fact, that somebody, someplace, has the same, varied, taste as myself !! Ok - I admit - I wouldn't call all of them 'Prog Albums' - but, just the fact, that I have them here... that's a a bit overwhelming !! "Wow !!"

Ok - my plans for today.... not many really !! I want to listen, to as much of this Allman's box set, as I can..... but, that will  - more than likely - be done, in 2 or 3 goes. I really do like the band - but, I don't think I'll be able to listen to - maybe - 6 hours of music, by them, in one session !! That's just too much for me.... today, at least !!

Yesterday, B & I, just sat out in the back garden... with Murphy..... see previous posts, to work out who he is - and it was really nice, to be sat in the Sun !! Unfortunately, it's a little too overcast, today.... maybe, later, if the Sun does come out, we'll repeat the pleasure.... not at the moment tho' !!

So - with more music than my old brain can handle, I will be on my ways. As always, I thank you for taking the time, to log in & read my words.... it's good to know that you are all "out there".. until next time...

Bye Bye
