Jeff Beck & lots of other stuff !!

Well, Greetings World's !!

It's a bright & warm Monday afternoon - here in the wilds of England's South-West !! I say all of that... but, earlier, we had one heck of a rain storm.... it really hammered it down !! Luckily, B & I were happily in the homestead, as we watched it head our way - from across the beach !!

Talking of My Wife & Dearest Friend - she has just gone out, for a couple of hours (at least)... I'm not sure exactly when she will be back... but... life will go on !!

B started attending a new type of weight-watching club... a few weeks back now & today is time for another meeting. It doesn't start, for an hour or so - but, she is heading around to the M & M's house first, to pick up our cat basket. Later in the week - Archie - our youngest - is heading towards the vets, for his first years injection.

He was meant to go, to the vets, a week or two ago - but.... well, he did a runner, on the day & B couldn't find him !! As per usual, with all of our cats, when the Sun is out - they go walk-a-bout... up across the fields !! Nevermind - hopefully, he will be here on the day & B can take him in & get it over with !!

Going back, a little earlier... we headed into town.... mainly to sort out some cash & put things away, to pay some bills & stuff. It's kind of strange - but, because of my money problems (read earlier posts !!) we are having to get print outs, on everything we do. I know, it's all going to sort itself out - but, it is a bit of a downer.... making sure we keep a tab on everything !!

Nevermind... in about 12 months, or so, it will all be sorted out & I can die a happy - if broke - man !! Ain't it great.... ?!

Anyhoo - we went into town.... and I had my mug shot taken, for my "blue badge" parking permit. It lasted for 3 years, the old one... so, I'm guessing, this one - the new one, will do the same. I never really wanted the badge thing - even tho' I was allowed one, many, many years ago... but, now... well, it's just a part of my life !! But  I had my picture taken & now, with the help of a £10 fee..... I will get a new badge, at some point, in the coming days or weeks.

I also took the chance, to pop in the library... and I picked up a couple of Cd's... one of which is a live recording of Jeff Beck - as yet, I've not given it a play, but.... I will do so, in a matter of minutes. As I type, I'm listening to part 3 of the Grateful Dead's 'April Fool'd Day' 1994 bootleg (I guess)... it's about to finish... so, I'll give Mr Beck a listen, after that. The tracks are:

Ok - I must of forgotten which Cd's were in the multi player.... the Allman's have just started up - a bit of a surprise, being as I was expecting Jeff Beck !! Oh well... I'll just let it play thru' !!

As - I hope - you all know... today marks the 100th anniversary, of the start of World War 1.... or 'The Great War'... or various names, along the same lines. My Dad - long dead, had this picture, of his Dad - in his army (I guess) uniform. When he left my Mum - that picture was one of the few things he took with him..... I guess the old bastard had some feelings in him !! That's another & very long story....

But - today, it's 100 years, since the start of the War....... as old, as I am... it ended a very long time, before I was born, but - I still have many memories, of the old films.... the ones they keep showing on TV etc etc..... how different things might have been, well - we will never know !!

On a much lighter note - today marks the 35 anniversary of Led Zeppelin's Knebworth concert - well, the first one of the two they played in 1979...... for my sins, I was actually there - with my ex & I had a great day !! If you dig thru' my old posts, you will find a couple of write ups, that I've done before, about the day & the concert.

But - as a kind of sad thingy.... I actually played a bootleg of the complete concert, earlier in the day... those tracks are:

As always - don't buy bootlegs...... buy the official stuff instead !! It's a big shame, that - as far as I'm aware - Zeppelin aren't releasing this concert, officially, as part of their batch of re-issues !! Now - as broke as I am, I would buy that one & that's for sure !!

Anyhoo - trawl thru' my old posts... from various days, in August & you will see I've written about it all before... the guy from Wales & the red Post Office van... aaahhh, happy days !!

Going back, to yesterday... B took me, into town, to get my old eyes tested. It's been 4 years, since I had a new pair of specs... so, I have decided to "push the boat out" & get myself a pair - slightly more expensive, than I would normally at £219 !!

I don't think B could believe it.... I normally just have a pair to get me thru' the day - never really too expensive.... but, after 4 years, I decided to treat myself !! If this new pair last me, that long - it will be money well spent !!

I was surprised, to actually get them checked, on a Sunday.... but - what the heck.... !! It's not something that I do every weekend.... so, I'm sure I can be forgiven, just this once !!

As we were driving, into town - we saw the 2 "new" Elders, speaking to a girl, on one of the corners. We have had Missionaries, in the town, for quite a while now - but, that has to be the first time that I've seen them "in action" so to speak !! The 2 guys, who normally come here, came around on Saturday - I think I mentioned this, in my last post - so, I'm not 100% sure when they will show up again !!

The other "big news" of the day, has to be that, our Son J, actually took the time to text his Mum today !! Ok - the first one was a bit mean - but, I'm glad that he got around to get in contact with B - even if it was, in response to B asking a question..... aka, if he was alright !! Who knows, maybe things will work out - for him & the rest of the family !! For me, the damage has been done now..... Oh well... I must be on my ways.....

I will try & play this Jeff Beck Cd... and maybe sort myself out, ready for my bed time !! It's been a bit of a long day - mainly as we were expecting a 'phone call, at 8am this morning...

To explain - briefly - if I can.... We had a letter, saying this person would call us, at 8am... so - we were all set, for the 'phone to ring. However - as it didn't actually do anything - by about 9am... B read the letter, again & in greater detail. The call is going to be, at 8am - but, not until; Wednesday !! Sooooo - we were 2 days early.... better that, I suppose, than 2 days late !!

It wasn't too big a deal... as the nurse came around, this morning & changed my dressings again..... I had to be up & ready, for her - so... as I say, it was no big deal... even if we were 2 days too early !!

Ok - I must away..... things to do - and all night to do them in !! As always, I thank you for taking the time, to log in & read my words..... until next time...
