Queen 'County Hotel Ballroom 1974' Ho-hum

Greetings World's !!

I know - I said I would try & write more often... that I wouldn't wait days between posting things.... but, once again, it's been 5 days & I've done nothing !! But - I do have several reasons, why I've been away from the keyboard... honestly !!

Lets go back..... I think I last wrote on the 23rd.... yep - 5 days ago.... so, that was Saturday..... life, since then, has been one "thrill ride" after another !!

Sunday I was sick as a dog..... that went on, into Monday - I don't know exactly what hit me, but all I wanted to do, was sleep..... luckily, that's about all I could do !! Which didn't help B... !!

Talking of B - My Wife & Dearest Friend - has gone into town, to attend a carers group meeting thingy, which happens from time to time. She will be home, about lunch time - or there about !!

Back to Monday... B was knee deep, in various forms & stuff. As mentioned, many times before, I am officially broke - and B, bless her, helped me sort out all the necessary forms. There were over 100 of them, in total !!

One in particular was 29 pages long - and it had to be done, in
triplicate !! Add to those - there were some other things, proving this, that & the other !! If nothing else - proving that you have to have money, just to go bankrupt - what with all the paperwork - plus the £700 fee !!

So - B was up to her neck, in forms... when the Missionaries came
over !! One of them is leaving the area, so just wanted to pop in & say goodbye, which was nice. Plus - while they were here, they gave me a Blessing - to try & help me thru' my poor state of health !! It was lovely to see them - as always - we wish them well !!

Back to Monday... B did a fantastic job of sorting everything out... and that brought us around to an early morning start, on Tuesday.... when, once again, I had to go to Court !!

This time, it was the Somerset County Court, in Taunton..... having to be there, at 9am was a bit of a bummer... but, again, with B's help, I made it !!

Once there, we met up with a very helpful young lady, who went thru' all of our paperwork & then - once she was sure, everything was in order, she went off to see one of the Judges.... 15 minutes or so later, she came back & that was it.... I was given a single sheet of paper, which states, in simple English, I'm officially bankrupt !!

After hours & hours of going thru' all of the forms, here at home.... it was a bit of an anti-climax really !! Nevermind..... it couldn't be helped - I now have 12 months of being broke & then, I hope, I can start over again !!

If nothing else - I've learnt something.... by going thru' all of this. I will never trust Barclay's bank ever again !! If they hadn't started this spiral off, last year - by taking £1500 off of us, when we needed it sooooo badly, with me being stuck in the bloody hospital..... well, I think I could have avoided all of this....... nevermind !! Life goes on - even if it does suck !!

B did find the whole court thing, just a little spooky.... with men, in black robes & white wigs, gliding around the place !! It was her first time there - for me, well.... been there, done that & - no, I didn't get the t-shirt... oh well !!

That was Tuesday.... yesterday was just as hectic !!

I had to go down, to the hospital, in Exeter, for a few checks.... and I'm now happy to say, the surgery is finally booked in, for September 8th !! Apart from a few niggles, over my lungs - everything checked out fine..... and I'm ready to go !! I think it's about 11 days...."Yippeeee" !! No - I'm only joking....

If all goes well, this could be the last surgery........ and, after 15 months, I will no longer have a bloody hole in my back - great stuff !! I won't know what to do with myself..... Ho-hum !!

Luckily - I saw a nurse, who knows me.... after going thru' 2 of these pre-op checks before.... so, that was nice. It also meant, as she knew my previous history, she could skip a bit of the paperwork & we were able to get out of the hospital, pretty early & head into Exeter, for a bit of a look around.

The shopping area was really hectic - lots of people, especially Mums & children, buying "back to school" stuff. The Summer holidays are coming to an end, I guess - so, they were getting things ready..... pens, paper & everything. Luckily, we don't have those headaches any more....

For first time readers, our 2 children have left the nest & are making their own ways in life. Our Son - J - is never coming back, where as our daughter - ME - has bought a house, about 10 miles from here & is living with her partner.....

Going back to yesterday - B was amazed, because I went into HMV & didn't buy a single Cd !! She said it was probably the quickest we have ever been in there !! Oh well - there was nothing I wanted + there is a record fair, in Exeter, on Saturday.... so, I want to head towards that one.......

All of the above, brings me back to today..... and I'm home alone, playing Pink Floyd's 'Earls Court' concert, from 1994. It's the soundtrack, to their DVD..... I transferred it over to Cd, quite a while ago now.... and I still think it's brilliant !!

Before anybody comments - it's not the same Cd's that came out, called 'Pulse' - this is, as I say, from the DVD - I prefer to play Cd's - so, for me & my own use - I play the Cd transfers !!

The tracks are:

CD 1

  1) Shine On You Crazy Diamond
  2) Learning To Fly
  3) High Hopes
  4) Take It back
  5) Coming Back To Life
  6) Sorrow
  7) Keep talking
  8) Another Brick In The Wall
  9) One Of Theses Days

CD 2

1) The Dark Side Of The Moon
2) Wish You Were Here
3) Comfortably Numb
4) Run Like Hell

When I did the transfer, I left 'The dark Side Of The Moon' as one long track - I play it as one piece, so it made sense to leave it that ways, on the Cd !! Moving on...... tho' - it does sound good !!

I bought myself a magazine, yesterday.... and it has a write up, about Queens early career & how they used to play small halls. Anyways - they mention playing the "Ballroom" in Taunton, in 1974...... they forgot to mention that there was a "disco" playing, before & after the live show !!

I know - I was there guys.... the tape still plays well, even to this day !! As always - don't buy bootlegs.... buy the official stuff instead !! Queen are bringing out a live album, recorded in 1974 - so, forget the bootlegs - buy that instead !!

There is something a little strange, about today.... and I've just worked out what it is !! I'm not carrying my "Vac-pump" around with me !!

I had it on, going down to Exeter... but, nobody there looked at the dressing.... which meant, it didn't get changed...... by the time that I go home, last night, it was hurting sooooo bad, that B called the nurses, to try & get it changed.... only to find there is/was nobody there to help me out !!

So - B took the old dressing off & stuck a new bit over the top.... leaving the pump thingy to charge up, until tomorrow - when the nurse is due again !! I don't really mind - it's been "nice" not to carry the thing around with me, all day long !!

Right - I better be on my ways....

As always, I thank you all, for taking the time, to log in & read my
words !! I'm amazed that so many of you are out there, reading what I type.... and from so many Countries !! I thank you all... until next time..

Bye Bye
