Gov't Mule - Roseland Ballroom 95/96

Greetings World's !!

Well - it's about 2.40pm - here in the wilds of England..... it's a very bright, tho' windy kind of day. My only experience of the "outside World" so far, has been to let Archie (the kitten) in thru' the outside door, into the kitchen. I could hear him crying - but I could,'t find
him !! It turned out - he was snug as a bug, in one of the cat baskets..... I'm guessing, everytime he heard one of us, in the kitchen - he opened his lungs.... more or less crying out, to be let into the warm !! He is now - up on our bed - nesting.... by that, I mean, he is going around in circles, making sure the bedding is to his liking, before settling down for another few hours sleep !!

He should be fine up there - not only is is really warm up there - but, B is in J's old room.... putting crafty stuff into whatever space she can find... so, he will be content, to have some company !! He really is a "people cat" - by that I mean, he likes to be around people & deliberately seeks us out, if - God forbid - he is left alone, for any reason at all !!

With B making noises, in the other room - he will settle down &, no doubt, fall asleep for most of the afternoon.... until his belly gets empty and he needs to be refilled !! Oh well..... onwards !!

Right - it's another Thursday....... and guess what, I'm playing another Allman Brothers concert !! Ok - I won't bore you with all the details, other to say, it was one of 3 that came yesterday.... while I was at the hospital. This one, I think is from their last show of their most recent tour & was recorded at Jones Beach, NY on September 7th..... it's a 2 Cd set & - so far - has been a great listen !!

Today - if having 3 new shows reach me yesterday wasn't enough, I've had a fantastic single Cd, by Gov't Mule reach me !! It was recorded at the Roseland Ballroom, on New Years 95/96.... It's a real good addition to my limited Mule collection....... plus, it has the bonus track of 'Voodoo Chile' - recorded with Jack Casady in October 2001 !! Well good ...... I'm going to give it another play...... it's only 72+ minutes long, so what the heck !!

I just looked out of the window - to see a very low flying airplane, zoom by !! All very strange.....

Right - the family.....

B, as mentioned, is upstairs in J's room.... trying to sort things out.... ME has gone off to work, via a new job interview !! She is well up for it, sooooo - hopefully - that will pan out for her and J - well, he is at Uni..... as far as I'm aware, quite happy with his lot !! I don't know the last time B heard from him....... she hasn't said anything..... Oh well, that just leaves me, here typing these words to you all !!

I actually slept for most of the morning...... not so much because I was tired - but, mainly as the blooming pills I take first thing, everyday, knock me out for hours on end !! I didn't wake up, until after 1pm - how mad is that !! I was going to do sooooo much today - maybe another time.....

Oh - back to yesterday.... I had a very wasted trip to the hospital !! To explain, to new time readers..... where have you been ?!

I had a fall, last Thursday - which left me in the ER department on Sunday night..... then, on Monday - we found out, my right leg was going numb - by Tuesday, I could quite happily stick pins into myself, with-out feeling the slightest pain !! So - B contacted the hospital - and my Consultant's secretary 'phoned me up, to get me in - to see a lady, yesterday afternoon. So far, so good !!

We reached the hospital, in good time & waited to see whoever it was, I was meant to be seeing.... it soon became clear, they - the people there - didn't have a clue why I was there & who I was meant to be seeing !!

Anyhoo - we explain the situation & a Dr, who I had never met before, gave me the slightest of examinations & said for me to come back, in 2 weeks - to see my Consultant (who was away)..... and, in the meantime, I was to book in for some kind of CT scan !! Honestly - not only was it a waste of their time - it was certainly a big waste of mine !!

When I tried to point out to him, that my various "reflex" test were all normal, he made some comment about if I had I spent my time, as a Dr, doing this sort of thing !! "No" - I haven't been a a Dr - but, I know when things are right & wrong, with my body !! My reflexes are good - being numb enough to stick a pin into myself, is definitely not !! Yet - the latter seemed to be of little interest to him... so, what the hell !!

So - tomorrow...... in the afternoon, I think.... I have to go back for a couple of scans - then, on Wednesday, the week after next, I have to see the Consultant again !! I'm going to ask him if he knows why I'm there - heck, hopefully somebody will !!

Honestly - yesterday was a big waste of time..... a crock really !! Oh well...... there were some fun moments !! We had only been there - in the hospital - for a few minutes, when we saw 3 people who remembered me, from my previous stays & visits !! Talk about being well know, probably, for all the wrong reasons !! Nevermind... life goes on - even if my back is hurting like mad & my leg is still numb !!

There is something, that neither B, nor I can understand.... about my back & walking problems. It's because of the pains in my lower back, caused - as I understand it - by the break up of the small bones, in that area, that has made walking sooooo very difficult !! Now - I'm not going to argue, that fixing my upper back hasn't been a huge bonus, to the way I am..... but - I can't see how it has helped, in the ways they, the Dr's seem to think it has or will ?! All very strange !! We'll have to ask the experts - next time around...

Back to music....

I had a look, in our local library, on the way home from the hospital, yesterday and came home with both of the Hugh Laurie Cd's 'Let Them talk' and 'Didn't It Rain' + the soundtrack to the 2nd season of 'Game Of Thrones'. As yet - apart from the very odd track, I've not played any of them.... but, I will enjoy giving them a listen at some point !! I actually think, I have the first of the HL Cd's.... but... if I have, it's from before I went into the hospital, last May - so, a lot has happened since then !! I can't get over how bloody good this"new" Gov't Mule Cd is.... the tracks are:

7) Voodoo Chile

With lots of other things, mixed into most of the tracks - 'Nantucket Sleighride' by Mountain, just being one... well, it's a brilliant bit of music !! The musicianship is fantastic, with the late Allen Woody's bass work standing way out !! Go on - buy yourself a copy.... you will not be disappointed !!

OK - I better think about closing down soon.... it's been a long/short kind of day & I'm really knackered - despite doing almost nothing !! Nevermind...... with 'Voodoo Chile' playing in the background - this is a good point to sign off....
