Greetings Worlds !!
Ok - I know it's been a very long time, since I last put finger tips to keyboard.... I have no real excuse for my tardiness.... I've just not got around to posting anything !! Sorry about that !! I must be honest tho' - I didn't realise it was sooooo long ago, since my last post !! Never mind.....
Right.... It's another Thursday, here in England and it's really raining hard outside !! B & yours truly went for a quick ride into town earlier.... which was Ok, but it was too wet to do too much. I wanted to go into the library, but.... we would of been wet thru' going down it's doors - let alone getting back to the car !! So - we settled for going to the bank & paying a few of our bills & just looking in the few shops, in the small arcade there.
Talking of My Wife & Dearest Friend...... she has just taken Murphy for a walk.... yep, in the rain !! I tell you - that dog seems to be 9th member of the family, the number of times we look out for him !!
For new readers... Murphy is our neighbour's dog. When he works a 12 hour shift & can't get home to see to him, we look out for the Murph and make sure he gets out for a pee & a little bit of a walk. Maybe we do too much sometimes - but, it's not the dogs fault that his "master" can't get home to look after him.
Oh well....
As for our family.... Well, as I say, B is out for a walk.... which leaves myself & ME at home. She (ME) is doing a few night-shifts at the moment & so is in bed sleeping... I hope...... that just leaves our Son, J... who, as I've written before (I think) has gone over to West Wales, to study at the Uni there.
It's been really weird, not having him about the place..... but, I hope my number one Son is doing Ok ?! The few text messages B has received are all on the positive side, so... that's good !! But - it sure is strange, not having him about !! Onwards....
As for the 4 other members of the family... the cats.... they are still about, eating us out of house & home !! The newest one, the kitten, Archie is still as mad as ever !! He runs around, playing with what ever he can find, including our fingers & toes and then, once he has had enough, he just zonks out !!
To my mind, he is no longer "big" kitten.... he is more of a "little" cat.... As I type, he is a few feet away to my left, trying to look all kinds of nice - but, I know full well, if I tried to smooth him, he would take it as a big game & go completely bonkers !!
Right... we have had a fantastic week !! As mentioned before, Lady V & her Husband Sir J have been in England & we are so over the Moon, that they stayed as few nights, here in our little home. It was sooooo good, not only to have them stay with us, but to actually meet them !!
For those of you who have maybe never read my words before (Why not !!) Lady V & Sir J run the Allman Brothers web site 'Hittin' The Note' over in Atlanta and I've been in contact with them for a few years now, since I really started buying the Allman's live Cd's....
To actually meet them & have them stay here.... well, for both of us - it really was a privilege !! They are such a fantastic couple.... we can't get over how great they were !! It was a real treat, to have them here & to meet them..... hopefully we can get together again, at some point.... who knows !! I think their holiday comes to an end, today..... which is a shame - but, I hope they had a good time, here in ol' England......
Which ever, or should that be what ever (?) - it was really brilliant to get together..... and to have some real "insider" talks with both of them.... to find out various things, nothing big, to fill in the gaps in my little Allman's knowledge !! Brilliant people & a fantastic time for us...... thank's for taking the time to stay with us !!
So, that was part of the reason I've not posted anything..... add to that, I've been a little poorly.... well, it's no excuse for not writing - but, it's part of my reason for being tardy !!
I'm still having the nurses around to the house 3 times a week..... they are getting better & better, at changing the dressings !! To begin with, it would take them about an hour, to get things right - now, well... 30 minutes is about their record !! They are due again, tomorrow (Friday).... so, we will see how things go....
As for the hospital... well, that's been good !! I went back in, just over a week ago & the Consultant was well happy with me... almost too happy, very OTT !! Nevermind... as long as the wound (in my back) is healing up and the infection doesn't re-erect itself.... well, life will be good !! Time will tell on all of that - as long as I keep taking the various pills & potions, I can't really do anymore !!
So.... moving right along to music !! What can I say..... Infront of me, I have about 30 Cd's - mostly Allman Brothers stuff...... lots of live shows !! The one I'm playing, at the moment. is from one of the Beacon Theater shows, recorded on March 9th this year. The tracks are:
CD 1
1) Done Somebody Wrong
2) Midnight Rider
3) End Of The Line
4) Worried Down With The Blues
5) Ain't Wastin' Time No More
6) Announcement
7) Dusk Till Dawn
8) Jessica
CD 2
1) Statesboro' Blues
2) you Don't Love Me
3) Rockin' Horse
4) Black Hearted Woman
CD 3
1) Stand Back
2) In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed
3) JaMaBuBu
4) In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed - Reprise
5) Crowed Noise
6) Announcement
7) Southbound
It's a great show - with about 6 of the tracks lasting over the 10 minute mark....... long tracks are always a bonus, for me at least !! Plus - this show is one I've played over & over.... but, I have a box beside me, with another 10 shows to listen to.... and they are all brand new !! They came this week, on Tuesday morning..... so, that's going to be fun !!
Add to all of those - I had a new copy of Humble Pie's 'Smokin' album, from 1972 & Hawkwind's 'Onwards' 2 Cd set..... lots of music to listen to !! Great stuff...... and a good way to sign off - for today, at least !!
So - I thank you all for logging in & reading my various posts & the words they contain. I must away now.... until next time......
Bye Bye
