Hi again World's !!
I hope your part of the Universe is treating you well ?! today is "Day 3" - as I've been counting it - of the great storm.... and, to be honest, we have got away with things quite lightly.
our hearts & prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones, over the last few hours.... as far as I know, from what I've seen on the BBC News, very little has happened in our little part, our little area..... the wind seems to have been further South of here.
The strangest part of it all - for me, at least, was how still everything was this morning - very peaceful & quiet !! That was about 9am, when I had to go down to the Dr's surgery - here in the village - to have my dressings changed.... more on that later.... but.... As we had been expecting "the worst" - to actually get out of the car this morning - it was sooooo quiet, it was all kind of strange really !!
But more importantly, the family !!
I'm "home alone" at the moment.... ME had a hairdresser's appointment this morning & B went along, for the ride.... and to give her some moral support, I guess !! From there - they are driving up to where ME hopes to be starting her new job soon....... and, if all goes to plan, from there - back in this direction, to take in a craft type shop......... Hopefully, all of that will happen smoothly !! I always worry about them, when they are out driving !! Not so much, because I think they will hit something - more that something/someone will hit them !!
That's the ladies of the homestead...... J, is still over in West Wales... studying at Uni. I hope all is going well for him, we've not heard otherwise - so, what do I know !!
As I say - that just leaves me here.... on my own, with 2 or 3 of the cats, to keep me company !! i can see the youngest "Archie" - who is asleep under the couch thingy. The oldest one, well, the last time I saw him, he was asleep up stairs...... I would say they are both "chilling out" - but, as I've got the heating on & it's pretty warm in here...... well, "chilling" is far from what they are doing !!
Anyhoo - that's the cats....
The music of the morning, so far.... well, I'll own up - I'm playing a load more Allman Brothers live stuff !! No real surprises there, I guess..... this time, I'm listening to the soundtrack to the bands 2003 DVD - recorded at the Beacon Theater in New York. I could watch the DVd - but, I prefer just to listen to the Dc's of the things. The tracks are:
  1) Ain't Wastin' Time No More
  2) Black Hearted Woman
  3) Statesboro' Blues
  4) Woman Across The River
  5) A Change Is Gonna Come
  6) Maydell
  7) Come & Go Blues
  8) Rockin' Horse
  9) Desdemona
10) Don't Keep Me Wondering
11) Midnight Rider
12) Soulshine
13) High Cost Of Low Living
14) Leave My Blues At Home
15) Old Before My Time
16) The Same Thing
17) Milissa
18) Instrumental Madness
19) Worried Down With The Blues
20) Dreams
21) Whippin' Post
Ok - those are the tracks, lifted straight off of the DVD cover... I'm actually listening to the 4 Cd version of the show, that I did for myself..... oh, a few years ago now !! If you can't find the DVD - there is a good 2 Cd version of most of the show out, called 'One Way Out' and I highly recommend that !! It's a well good Cd & covers most of the above, in one way or another !! I just put it onto Cd - mainly, as you will know - if you're a long time reader - because I prefer to listen to bands, rather than watch them !!
The Cd's only have about 15 minutes to go... so, I'm not really sure what I'm going to play next - possibly the 2 Cd set, by Colosseum, that I bought the last time we went into Taunton. I've only had chance to play the odd track - so, today.... well, I'll try & give it a listen !!
I mentioned yesterday, about Lou Reed dying - this morning, I've read that John McVie has pulled out of the Fleetwood Mac Australian tour, after being diagnosed with cancer.... our thoughts & prayers are with you.
The postman has just been.... I am now the "proud" owner of 2 more Star Trek models, ho-hum !! This time... well, number 6 is a model of 'Voyager' & number 7 is a model of a Klingon 'K'T'inga-Class' battle cruiser. First of all - who comes up with all of these weird names, for so called alien spaceships ?! Oh well - they will go to whoever wants them, either when I'm very old & grey - or when I'm dead & gone...... hopefully someone will get some joy out of my madness, collecting various things...... time will tell !!
Right - I mentioned going down to the local Dr's surgery - to have my dressings changed. It's the first time that I've been down there, for a change.... up until now, the nurses have visited me here, in the house. That has worked, really well !! I'm at home & at ease, being in my own environment..... nevermind - today, I had to start going down to the surgery !!
Two things - other than going there - bothered me.... (1) We had to take a bundle of dressings with us - as they didn't have what I needed in their stock, which I think is piss poor..... & (2) I was there, in the surgery area, having my dressing changed & in walked a Dr.... with-out only the slightest of knocks at the door & no chance for me to say "No" to his coming into the room !! Where is my bit of
privacy ?!
I'm actually going to 'phone the practice manager in a few minutes & make a complaint about it..... how would a lady have liked it, if the Dr had walked in & found her topless, or worse !! Time will tell on that subject as well, I guess......
I also have to 'phone a friend... he came to the house several times, while I was in hospital... & I never got chance to thank him, for asking after me. So - in a short while, those are my plans - it's not much, but... it's something to be going on with !! Plus - I have a pile of dishes to try & get done, before the ladies get home - that is something I really need to do !!
So - I better be on my ways.... I thank you all, as always, for logging in & reading my words.... I would be interested to know what you are listening to ...... until next time.....
Bye Bye
