I hope you're all well ? Ok, it's not sooooo cold tonight... but - I've got the heating on, so I'm Ok which ever way you look at it !! Never mind - it's a Thursday night & I'm playing music.... so welcome back !!
At the moment, I'm here alone - J is upstairs & the ladies have gone back to the gym for another class... good luck to them I say !! B has lost over 50 pounds, since she started & she feels a lot better for it... so, as long as she is happy - that's the main thing !!
It's been a quiet, but active kind of day. B & I went into town earlier this morning & we haven't really stopped all day - that's not true... B has not stopped all day !! Me, I ran out of steam a few hours ago - I was completely bushed !! Never mind.... I'll make up for it, sleeping my head off tonight - or at least I hope so - I'm joking of course !!
I was kind of disappointed yesterday, when the Dr I saw kept me on the same tablets for another 4 weeks (or whatever it is)... she said to give it a bit longer, to see how things went & so, I'll go along with her thoughts... she is the expert, so I won't argue toooo much with her !! I'll see how things go !! Plus, she really is so nice to the both of us.... B as well as myself !!
The music of the moment is Nazareth's latest album 'Big Dogz' - it rocks along quite nicely & my thanks to Pete Agnew for letting me know it was out.... That's what is so good about a lot of the older bands - they will take the time to contact the 'fans'. I'm not saying that 'new' bands don't - but..... it was good to hear from him & a great surprise as well !!
The music of the day has ranged from the Allman Brothers, thru' Derek & The Dominos & onto this. I was playing it in the car yesterday - so I thought I would dig it out again tonight..... In just over an hour, Peter Gabriel is on the radio, doing a concert, with the orchestra, he used on his latest album - now, I'm really looking forward to hearing that !! I'm hoping that the DVD will get here by Monday - I know J is looking forward to that, as much as I am. Should be good......... B will be pleased - another few weeks of me playing the same music, over & over !!
While we were in town this morning, we were in one of the shops & the fire alarm went off !! It's quite a big store (considering the size of the town) & the staff were running around like mad things, trying to get people out !! Within minutes, some one shouted it was a false alam, but for a while there - it was all kind of crazy !! It was well done tho' - it all looked kind of stupid - but they did what they had to do !!
If you get to hear this album - the Nazareth one I mentioned above - check out the track 'Radio' - for us old guys, it's really true - how we used to listen to the radio...... listening for that one song we wanted to hear !! It's strange, but now we take all the TV & radio stations for granted - but.... well, in my life time, things have changes soooo much - it makes me wonder how things will go from now on !!
The guy's God parrents live in the USA ("Hi again" America) & we were talking a few years back.... I mentioned that our Grandchildren, might & probably will, live into the 22nd century !! Now, that is kind of weird, when you think about it !! I know at the time, well - we laughed about it - but, here we are now in 2011 & things still keep going on & on !!
I see the news today has been filled with pictures of that guy being killed, so their country can re-build..... I want to know if they have really worked out what the next step will be. It's one thing to kill a 'leader', but another one to get a country up & running again !! Too much for tonight !!
Earlier in the week, a british guy was killed in a car race, in America - he Wife (or some one else close to him) said, something like, we'll miss him, but - he died doing what he loved & he knew the risks !! It's probably true, but it still hits hard, when some one you love dies or is taken from you.... life goes on - but, it's hard.
I'm getting toooo morbid tonight !! It's nearly concert time - only another 30 minutes to go !! I'm not thinking about listening to it, tonight - I'll leave that until tomorrow... now that will be fun !! B will probably 'kill' me for playing more Peter Gabriel, but.... it's worth the risk !!
My plans tonight are pretty solid, get ready for bed - go to bed, go to sleep & wake up (over & over) thru' out the night... why should this night be any different from the nights over the last 10 years !! Just once, I would like to go to bed & sleep all the way thru' the night !! Now, that would be something to write about !! Oh well - I can dream, I guess......... I kid you not, my last full nights sleep was in 2001 !! It has been a roller coaster of a ride since then & that is for sure !!
Ok - with Bruce Springsteen, just about to start... it' his 'The Teenage Werewolf' bootleg August 1978 - which I think was recorded in Cleveland, on August 9th... well, it's one of my favourites !! For now I must away.... until next time... when I hope I'll be a little happier....
