Deep Purple & Grateful Dead.. Ho-hum..

Hi again everybody !!

It is a very warm & early Monday morning, here in the wilds of England. I've just waved "goodbye" to B, as she left - on an early morning trip to town.... and, even tho' it's not 9am yet - it really is hot outside !!

Why has she gone to town, sooooo early ? Well - to try and explain.

As long time readers will know, from my ramblings a day or 2 ago - I have to sit here & wait for a nurse !! One or more of their number is coming out, to the house today..... to fit me with another 'Vac pump' thingy !! Oh - such fun......

I would like to say "I can't wait" - but, that's exactly what I have to do..... just sit here & wait - mainly as we have no actual time, as & when to expect them !! So - B has gone to town early..... to put some cash, in the bank & to get some shopping....... then, if all goes well, back here, before the nurse gets to the house !!

All I really know, is that one nurse - at least - is coming, as soon as the pump is available for me. I believe it is coming either from Taunton or Exeter.... I'm not sure which - but, as there are 2 types... I hope they bring the right one !!

The very first one, that was fitted in the hospital, last year.... well, that type is brilliant !! It really worked well - the last 2, however.... they were really crap & didn't do me a great lot of good, which was a bummer !!

So - when someone actually gets here - I will know what to expect !! But - the whole reason, for B going to town, this early in the morning, is to try & do all of the stuff, and be back here, in time for the visit !!

If she does miss the nurse - that's Ok..... but, she will remember stuff, more than me at least - so, if the nurse comes.... B will be my "eyes & ears" so to speak..... taking on-board everything I need to know, about the thingy - which, no doubt I will forget, if left to my
ownsome !!

Yesterday, B spent most of the afternoon, over at the M & M's place.... they were being visited by 2 of B's relatives (mine, only by marriage)  and she went along, for a bit of "moral support" !!

In the end, it was 7pm, before she got home.... so, poor old ME had had her work cut out !! The relatives showed no movement - about going home - until B said she had to leave..... when she left, they decided to leave as well..... !!

They do not, from past experience, know when to take the hint & go !! Nevermind - I was here, on my ownsome, putting more & more Cd's away....

That was kind of funny..... not putting them away.... I'll explain....

I was sat, on my fancy chair, which helps me "stand", just behind the living room door...... when a lady came to the door. The door was open & as I was, kind of, stuck (in my chair) I shouted for her, to come in..... and that I was just by the door.

It turned out to be a Police lady that we know..... !! She came in & found me..... and I thought I was being taken to jail - again - but, it turned out, it wasn't anything I had done.... One of our neighbours has some really expensive pets.... & a part of her enclosure had been damaged - where, either some of her parrots had been taken, or they had flown out !!

They went missing, on either Wednesday or Thursday ?! Which I thought was strange.... surely you would know when something like that happened ?! Maybe not - I just thought it was a little weird, that's all........

For once tho' - I was taken off to jail - so, I was left to me Cd's..... and, I did pretty well with them,  or - at least - I think I did !! I have managed - so far - to get to the "P's & Q's" section.... Tom Petty, Queen & the such like.... and, I still have quite a bit of spare
shelving !! It's amazing, it really is...... hopefully, now, I can keep them, in a better order - it will help to find things & that's got to be a help !!

Staying with music.... I found a couple of cassettes, that I honestly had forgotten about !! They are by Deep Purple & called 'Scandinavian Nights'. As I say - I have the 2 cassette version.... which, kind of makes sense - they seem to have come out, in 1972..... before I had my first expensive music system, so, I probably bought them, on tape, to play in the car. Oh well..... the tracks are:

It was recorded in Stockholm in 1970 - which would explain the old & new mix of tracks - some by the first Deep Purple & this line up, with Ian Gillan  & Roger Glover..... also - some of the extended run thru's of tracks, like 'Wring That Neck' & 'Mandrake Root'.........Oh well - I'm glad I found it !! It's amazing what you can find - when you're sorting out old stuff !!

Some of the "solo" stuff - it sounds really dated.... kind of "arty-farty" for a want of a better phrase. Oh well - I'm still glad I found it tho'....

.... along with a couple of Grateful Dead tapes. 'Without A Net' !! They came out in 1990 - so, I'm not really sure why I bought them, on tape, as appose Cd ?! Nevermind - I'll play them next..... the tracks are:

At the end of the week - there is a record fair, in Exeter..... I was expecting to have to go, back to the hospital, in Exeter, this Wednesday - which, given the 100 mile round trip - would of put me off going to the fair !!

Anyhoo - that hospital trip has been called off.... as the Vac-pump thingy is being fitted here !! That means - the trip to the fair looks a real possibility !!

Sooooo - with that in mind.... I'll call one of my friends & see if he has the Dead set, on Cd. He specializes in American 60's & 70's stuff.... so, there is a great chance he might have a copy !! If he does, I'll make sure my name goes on it !!

Ok - I am officially broke - but, I can treat myself..... out of my "own" money !! Roll on Saturday..... it's going to be fun !!

Right - I better be away, for now..... I need to get myself ready for the nurse thingy - I don't really want to be typing this, when she gets here, that wouldn't be too good !!
