R.I.P. Mr Mayall.......

Greetings World's !!

I was just thinking - a very foolish thing, for me at least - but, I messed around putting all the cassettes onto the bookcases, where the videos used to live..... and, if my brain is working Ok - I actually put 900 tapes on to the shelves !! I knew it took a while... but, I didn't really grasp just how many I moved !!

I know I might be slightly out on the numbers... but, there are 144 on each shelf, plus a few extra on top of those.... but, I now understand why it took sooooo long to do !! Also - it wasn't all of the tapes... I still have about 3000 other ones, stuck here there & everywhere !! Nevermind....

Right - it's a very bright & Sunny Monday, here in England..... it's really warm outside !! It was really "nice" to go out in the car, into town, with both the windows down & the air blowing thru' !! I don't always like going out - but, today was really good.... I enjoyed it !!

As I type, B - My Wife & Dearest Friend - is out in one of our little gardens, doing some sort of stuff..... I'm not 100% sure what, but.... that's where she is !!

So - with the guys - our Son & Daughter - living away now, that means I'm sat here, on my ownsome.... playing a 2 Cd set by Gregg Allman, really loud !! More of that later....

.... I just popped out thru' the front door.... Murphy, our neighbour's dog, is helping B... by basically getting in her way !! It seems that he took a bit of weed whacker string, out of it's tin.... not very helpful !! Still, I gave him a little "cuddle" & a couple of biscuits - so, he's
happy !!

Back, to our trip into town... that was this morning.

I had to go & see my local Dr. - basically to ask what my options are with my back wound. On Wednesday, I have to go back down to Exeter - to go back to the hospital there & have my dressings changed again. I wanted to see my Dr. about it - just to know what I can do - if the Consultant does this, that or the other. To try & explain....

As long time readers will know.... I had a shed load of operations, on my back, in 2013...... this has left me with a hole, in my back.... which, in a nut shell, refuses to heal over !!

One of the operations, last December, was to do a skin graft.... that failed completely. So, on May 12 this year, I went back to the operating theater - this time, or so I was led to understand, to have a bigger surgery - which, it was supposed to finish the job off & completely fill in the hole.... if you follow my meaning !!

But - just before getting knocked out, the Consultant told me, he wasn't going to do the bigger surgery - he was just going to do another skin graft !! I wasn't overly impressed with that.... but, I didn't really have much say in the matter.... I know the Dr's have a far bigger understanding of all of this - so, I went off to sleep & woke up with another skin graft. With me, so far ?

Well - a month later, give or take, I still have a hole in my back & - again - the skin graft seems to have failed.... for the 2nd time !!

So - I saw my Dr. this morning.... really, as I said above, to try & get some idea of what I can do next. I know it's down to the surgeons.... but, I expected one surgery & I landed up with something else - something, which as I say, seems to have completely failed again !!

So - after seeing my local Dr. - I know now, what I can do - depending on what the Consultant says. If it's failed & he decides to do the bigger surgery - that's fine.... but.... I really needed to know how I stood, incase he says something different. I don't really want to moan too much, to the guy..... but, I need to know what his plans are next !! Oh well.... it's all very confusing & after 12 months & a bit... I just want an end to it all - I'm just fed up with having this hole in my back !!

It's not helped by having the blooming dressings changed every couple of days - as they were this afternoon !! I am getting used to it all.... but, it still hurts, each & everytime it's done !! Nevermind.... I'm still better off, than I was, before the whole surgery thing started.... for that, I am truly grateful.... enough moaning !!

While we were in town, we picked up a few bits & bobs.... and that was about it really. We were there, about an hour & then it was back to our little homestead. A quick trip - but, in the Sunshine - it was an enjoyable little bit of fun !!

As I said above, it's a 2 Cd set by Gregg Allman.... recorded live, at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 6th 2011.... just a short while, before we saw the man himself, here in the UK, at his concert in Birmingham. It's a slightly different set list, but the tracks are:

As per normal, I have the TV on - to my left - playing quietly away to itself..... and, I'm very sorry to read & hear that the comedian Rik Mayell has died !! I knew nothing about this, until a very few minutes ago.....

For me, I will always remember him in the 'The Yong Ones'..... and the many other roles, that he did. It's very sad news - our thoughts & prayers go out to his family & friends.

While I'm thinking about him....

In December 1986, I was over in America & it was really late at night..... I put the TV on - there, coming right at me, was the episode of 'The Young Ones' !! Even tho' I was 3000 miles away from home, there was a very "British" comedy, to remind me of home !!

It was the episode, with Motorhead making a guest permanence..... extremely funny & something I've never forgotten !! RIP Mr Mayall !!

Ok - the music has just changed..... I'm now listening to the 'Live '74' Cd by Hawkwind - a very British band, if ever there was one !! The tracks are:

I have a load of Cd's sat in front of me, which really need to be put away - I pull them out & give them a listen.... then, sort of,forget to put the things back !! Of course - if I put them back - I have to find where about they came from !! maybe I'll put it off & do it another time..... ?!
