Nantucket Sleighride & Liberation !!

Well Greetings Worlds !!

It's another Friday, here in England.... and it's quite cold outside..... better cold & dry, than the wet & warm weather we've been having over the last month or so !!

There are still roads closed, due the flooding around the levels !! One of them, is the main Taunton to Glastonbury road... it's been shut, off & on, for the last 6 weeks or so !! How would the people of London, or any other big city, feel if one of their main roads was shut..... especially for so long !!

Mind you - I'm guessing here - in the cities, there are always road to cut thru' - to avoid any blockages.  We have them here... it's just a case of driving another 20 miles or so, to actually find it !! Ah - the joys of living in the country !!

The other month, someone was on the radio.... saying how much better it is, to live in the country... as different to living in a city. Yep... it does have it's advantages....... The smell of cow crap, usually worse in the spring... and, of course, the blooming lack of public transport !! We do get buses... about once every blue moon..... but, I'm told they do exist !!  Amazing !!

Anyhoo.... I was born a country lad, so..... I can't moan too much !! I did try living in the city (Leeds) once, but after 8 weeks or so..... well, I gave up !! Never mind.... it's not for everybody !!

Ok - it's a Friday..... and, apart from J... who is upstairs on his computer, I'm home alone !!  The ladies of the house, have just gone into town, to do some shopping and to buy my birthday pressy !! Ok - for those of you, who know me... my birthday isn't until July - but........ they are going to try & get it for me today !!

It - the pressy - is an "iPod Classic".... which, if you've been reading my post's... well, you will know that I've been filling old iPod's up with music, ready for my trip to the hospital. Long story, made short, we went into Taunton yesterday & ME showed me the "Classic" thingy & I fell in love with it !!

It's chunky... and has a massive memory, which will mean I can put tons of my Cd's on the thing !! Why buy one now ? Well, the family keep mentioning this thing & I've said, I would like one - on 2 conditions.... (1) The whole family pay for it, between them..... and (2) It's not just going to be for my use.... it's going to be the whole families to use, when ever they want !! That sounds fair to me...... so, as I type, I think they are in town, picking one up for me/us !! Great stuff !!

As I say... I saw one, yesterday... when we were in Taunton, shopping. ME would of liked to have gone to Bristol - but, I wasn't well enough to do that, so we headed to Taunton !! I didn't mind really... but, I did fall asleep, on the way home - I was kind of out of it, by the end of the day !!

I had a gift voucher, to use in HMV... ME gave it to me, for Xmas..... so, I bought myself 'Rainbow Rising' the super dooper remastered thing.... plus, an Allman's collection..... I have all the tracks on the Cd, but it was cheap & used up the rest of the gift card !!

I also went into the library & came home with about 9 Cd's.... some of which will be interesting, as they are by people I had only just heard of !!  One of the guys in hospital, last month, told me about several groups & stuff, so..... I went mad & picked them all up !!

Add to all of the above.... I'm being really spoilt rotten at the moment.... I 'phoned Atlanta last night, hoping to speak to Lady V, at the Allman's web site.... well, I heard her voice on the answer phone, but all I could leave a message.... then, we sat down & ordered the 2012 Allman's box set !!  Yippeeeee !!

It's possible they will in the post today - but, more likely next week sometime !! So much music - I'm really being spoilt, as I say !! The music of the moment is a live Status Quo Cd.... which came out in the 1970's. I found the Cd in the library, so... I'll check it out & if it's worth buying.... well, I'll look into it first !!

As I've not posted for a day or 2... "the tracks of the day" have got a bit behind. But, for January 9th, I've picked 'Liberation' from the first Chicago album & for yesterday, I'm going with 'Nantucket Sleighride' from Mountain's brilliant 'Twin Peaks' Cd........ I still have the old Lp of this show - I really do love it to death !!

As for today.... I'm going to give it some thought..... I've heard sooooo much music, already today... so, it's not going to be an easy choice !!  For now tho'... I must away....

Next time I post, I'll tell you all about the latest saga of the black left arm !!  All very weird....  until next time...
