'Walk On Gilded Splinters'

Hi again World's !!

So - why did I use 'Remember Me' by Diana Ross - as the header of my last post ! Well....

When I was a lot (lot) younger.... I used to run what was then called a mobile disco. It was nothing fancy - just a bunch of amps, speakers, turntables & loads of old 45's. Well - yesterday, when I was doing the latest tapes transfer...... one of the tracks was 'Remember Me' !!

I'm guessing it was about 1971, or there about.... and, to shorten the story, right back to it's bones - 'Remember Me' was the last, but one, track, that I would play.....  at the end of the night. The idea being, to give the crowd something "soft" to cuddle up to, before playing the last track - which was always 'Tears Of A Clown' by Smokey Robinson !! So - they went from a soft song... onto something they call all dance to, before I shut down for the night !!

I remembered all of this, yesterday afternoon..... it's blooming stupid, but it brought back a shed load of memories !!

The music of the moment.... well, it's part of a live Genesis show - I think from their 'Three Sides Live' Cd... I'm 100% sure, as I've got a load of discs in the decks at the moment & I've lost track of what is playing !!

As for the family.... ME has gone off to work this morning...... leaving the rest of us, all here, at home. B is upstairs, in the bedroom.... probably making up a new set of bedsheets..... J, well - he is here beside me, getting the kitchen cleared away & that just leaves me here, typing these words !!

Tomorrow - well, J is going to sort out my computer.... to try & explain !!

He has been building himself a new computer & he is going to take, part of, mine & put his old one, with mine - which, I hope, will give me a far better piece of kit !! I am not a computer boffin, sooooo I will take his word for it - but, the way he has explained things..... I should be getting a good deal out of all of it !! But - we'll see what happens tomorrow.... !!

Also, tomorrow..... B has decided she seems to be ready, to go back to Church !! To try & explain.....

Before Christmas, as most of you know, I was taken into hospital..... where I stayed for just about 2 weeks. In that time - while I was there - a lady, from The Church, really upset B..... most of which, I only found out about, after I came home. B didn't want me to no what was really happening, so that I didn't get too upset about it, while I was "sick" !!

I knew B had been upset & I knew part of the problem - but, it was only when I came home, that I got the full story !!

Anyhoo..... After I got home, I knew there was a chance of the next surgery, taking place & that it was going to be a "big one". So - we decided to take a break, from Church - to really give ourselves time.... well, to work thru' all of the things that are likely to happen.

With all of that, in mind - we have not been to Church, since last November. That might sound really bad - but, we have needed the time, to really put our thoughts together & what have you.

As a family, we have talked about the surgery - the fact that it's going to be something, that - if it goes wrong - will leave me paralysed (or worse) and.... as a family, we needed the break from The Church - to work it all thru' in our own, slow kind of way !!

As it is, at the moment.... B has said she doesn't mind going tomorrow, so - that sounds like a plan !! We are no longer in the Taunton area - but, that's where we've been, these past 5-6 years, so that's where we are going to stay !! Darn the rest of them !!

I'm trying to be clever today & move some albums, onto the Mini Egg, as I type. The trouble is - my computer works in a Universe of it's own.... and it sure does bugger everything up !! Oh well.... life goes on.....

Oh - I forgot.......

Yesterday afternoon, the 'phone went & it was one of my Dr's..... he's the guy who does the happy gas & knocks me out, for the various surgeries. Anyhoo - he phoned & spoke to B...... it seems that all is well & - from his point of view - the surgery is definitely on !! All I need now, is an actual date - so, I can go in & get it over with !! Ho-hum.....

* In 1975, I was in London, for the day.... something I try to avoid.... but, anyways. While I was there, I took the chance to buy Duane Allman's 'An Anthology II'..... I only really wanted it, for the last track - 'Midnight Rider'..... mainly as it was 'live' & at the time, unreleased on any official Allman's stuff.

Anyhoo - I brought the  2 Lp's home & it was full of stuff, I had never heard of before.... especially Johnny Jenkins 'I Walk On Gilded Splinters'. That track has stuck in my few remaining brain cells, all of these years & now, I'm really happy to say, the Allman's play it, on their live show releases !! It's brilliant - it really is !!

Alright - I better think about closing down now........ I need to get some sleep, or something.... I mentioned that I saw my local Dr,  a couple of days ago (at least I think I did).... anyhoo - he's changed all of my "night time" pills around & it really hit home, last night....

I was down here, in the living room, watching NCIS, at about 2am this morning !! It was crazy..... I also have a bump on my head, from falling over - so, it wasn't a great night !! Nevermind - I'm not hurting too badly today - so, maybe the change is going to be for the best.... I will let you know !!

For now tho' - I will be on my ways...... I thank you all for logging in & taking the time to read my words.... one of you will be my 6000th page reader, probably later today.... I wish I had a prize to give you....oh well.... until next time..
