"For Badge Holders Only"... and a chain saw !!

Greetings Worlds....

It's a Saturday, here in old England.  As I type, the sound of a chain saw is loud & clear in the background & the music of the moment is a Led Zeppelin concert.  All is well with my little World !!

We have a hedgerow, to the rear of the house and the trees are all getting a little... um..."dead" for want of a better word !!  So - B contacted the lady who owns the field, immediately behind us & she arranged for a guy to come in & lop off the dead wood.

So - apart from chopping up the dead wood - he has also let  a load more light into our garden, so it's a double bonus on that one !!  No more dead trees falling into the garden & more light for the side lawns.... great stuff !!

He has now been called over to the NFH's garden.... I think she saw what he was doing here & wanted part of her hedge cut down at the same time.  Hopefully he will make her pay for it & get out alive !!  Now now, I mustn't be nasty !!  Well - maybe just a little bit !!

Ok - enough about the trees...

The family are here & there today.  J is here with me.... upstairs in his "Hobbit Hole" of a room.  He is keeping an eye on me, because the ladies of the house have gone out shopping.  Not B's favourite past time - but, ME wanted something to go with her 'prom'.... oops, I'm sorry.... "University Ball" dress.  So, she dragged B along for the ride !!

The "Ball" in in just a couple of weeks - so, she is running out of time to get it all together.  As it is - the dress is way too long & B is going to take it up a bit..... oh well !!

I'm not sure when they will be back - probably much later.......

I don't really mind - it's F1 on TV this weekend, so I will be watching some of that in a very short while.

Oh yes - may thanks again, to my American reader..... according to my computer, you have read 60 pages of my words over the last couple of days !!  I really do thank you for your time - but, have you considered going out of the house more ?!

No - joking aside... I really thank all of you for taking the time to log in this ol' blog of mine !!  I've lost track of just how many page read's I've had in total - but, given that when I started this, I would of been glad to have had just one reader.... well, I thank you all !!

Today is June 23rd.... it's the middle of the year (give or take a day or two) and it's raining again !!  Come on !!  I see there are places, in the North of England, who have been really badly hit by floods..... what is it about our weather - give us a break, please !!  We need a little bit of Sunshine - at least once a month !!


However - June 23rd.... well, in Zeppelin bootleg terms... it's a good day !!  It's another 1977 show - but, it's a brilliant one !!  It was recorded during their 6 night stint at the LA Forum and has become World famous as 'For Badge Holders Only'....... I've lost count of how many different boots have come out from this show.... but, my favourite has to be the original 4 Lp set !!


For my own use - and so I don't ruin the vinyl - I've transferred the recording to 3 Cd's... the tracks are:

That's not really in the correct order - the way the set was played on the night - but, when I played the Lp's to record them (over to Cd).... well, I went with what worked, for me, at the time !!  I also missed off 'The Battle Of Evermore'...... if you know the vinyl recordings... well, it started on one Lp..faded out & came back on the next Lp.  I didn't like that - so, I missed it off the Cd's !!  It is the same with 'No Quarter' - but, that is a much longer track, so I left it on. 


There are 2 separate recordings of this show.  The one I like, from the Lp's and another - not quite so good one - which seems to be the more easy to find.  Having said that - I'm not telling you go & buy it... long time readers will know, I never advise that..... but, the tape is "out there"..... just don't pay for it !!


I also must say - as I nearly forgot - this is the concert that Keith Moon joined in, on drums........ a great bit of history there folks !!  Anyhoo - more another time - just don't buy bootlegs !! Onwards....


B just 'phoned.... there at one of the 'local' shopping places, trying to find various things.  My Wife & Dearest Friend seems fed up with it all already !!  Never mind - she should know, not to go shopping with our Daughter !!


Right - I better think about getting on with other stuff - what I don't know....... but, I will find something to do, I'm sure !!  The plans for the weekend are pretty non-existent !!  If I'm well enough tomorrow, we might make it over to Church...... I'm a lot better than I was last weekend, but we will have to see what the morning brings really !!  


I need to return the last of the Cd's to our friends - and also their Lp's (if they want them back).... we'll take them along & see what they say, when we see them.... I guess !!  Hopefully, S (the Wife) will have got over her surgery - from several weeks ago - and will back to fighting fitness !!  Bless her, she is in her 80's I think, so "fighting fitness" might not be exactly the right words to use !!  Oh well....


Whatever happens tomorrow, I will be back at some point & will no doubt have some other things to write about........ I again, thank you for reading.... until next time.....
