'Brass Rock 1' and "Dark thoughts"...

Greetings Worlds !!

How has your day gone, so far ? Mine is ticking along quite nicely....... I'm sat here, on my ownsome, listening to the Gaslight Anthem's 'Handwritten' album & it's bopping along really well - a little bit of rock muzak  to write my words to !!

I'm also trying to load stuff, onto the computer, for the Mini Egg.... but, I'm failing miserably on that front !! Over to my left, on the table, there is a couple piles of Cd's - which in theory, I should be putting away - onto the shelves...... well, they have got as far as the table & that's about it for now !!

Oh well...... I'll get around to it....

The family......

ME has taken B out for a small shopping trip..... one of their many little trips out & about !! B was meant to be going to a meeting, at 4pm... but, her heart wasn't really into it - so, she cancelled that & the two ladies of the house are now, I guess, heading towards Taunton !! they won't be back for a while..... so, I have plenty of time to clear up my mess !!

That just leaves J... who is behind me, clearing up some dishes........ I'm not sure from where ?! As it's about 2pm... well, they could be from breakfast, lunch..... or the many meals, they seem to take, inbetween !! Oh well..... so, that just leaves me.

I'm in two World's today, maybe three. To explain, as best as I can !!

World one..... is where I am now, lost in my little brain, happily listening to music & typing these words to you. it's something I really enjoy - and, being alone - kind of - enhances the whole thing !!

World two..... is here around me. A small home, a little room & a warm fire. The TV is on - tho' with no sound - playing a...... well, I'll get to that in a moment.

World three... well, that's the "dark side" of my life. Too much pain, too few pain killers.... tho' I could take a lot more, as they are here beside me...... and a feeling that, in a perfect World, it would all go away - even if I had to help it along a bit !! That's where the "magic pill" comes in - it's the one, that you take, to make all of "it" go
away !! That's World three - it's a very dark place.......

Back to World two..... and the big surprise of yesterday....... !! B came home, from shopping, with the brand new DVD of
'The Hobbit' !! I was sooooo happy to get a copy - tho' I didn't plan on getting one, until the whole three films had come out & there was some kind of deluxe box set available !!

Like 'The Lord Of The Rings'.... there are three films & - I'm guessing - at some point, they will release them all, on DVD, with extras & stuff.... that's the one I was going to buy, way off into the future !! Oh well - now I have the first one - I'm not complaining... it's been a fun watch !!

I know there are a lot of real "Rings" fans, who will find lots of faults, in the film - compared to the book, or even how it fits into the other films.... but, I can see where things are "wrong" - but, it's only a
film !! Moving on....

I've just changed the Cd... I'm now listening to 'Brass Rock 1' by a band called HEAVEN. It came out in 1971 & I had the Lp's of the set... which I always enjoyed, so - when I had chance to get the Cd... I went for it !!

It's very much in the same vein as the early Chicago & Blood, Sweat & Tears albums. As I had the first three albums, by Chicago - this fitted in, pretty much, along side them. The tracks are:

  4) Come Back
  5) Song For Chaos
  6) Morning Coffee (A Theme To A Film)
  7) Number One (Last Request)
  8) Number Two (Down At The Mission)
  9) Dawning

Just listening to it, now... well - it does sound a bit "dated" - but, I like it !! You will find, probably, that I have mentioned the band, before, in earlier posts..... but..... moving on (again)....

It wouldn't be right of me, not to mention the death, yesterday, of Maggie Thatcher. I would just like to mention, that - under our voting system - altho' she was Prime Minister for countless years..... probably about two thirds of the country did not vote for her, at any time !!

She came to power, in May 1979..... and people do forget the hardship, that some of the country, went thru' while her party were in office & she was leading them. Interest rates at over 15% for mortgages - mine included - and, for me, the most embarrassing time, when her then "money man" had to go on TV several times, in one day, to explain why things were going wrong with their European money policy !!

Maybe she was a fantastic person..... but, as I say, the majority of the country did not vote for her. She didn't win back the Falkland Islands - the troops on the ground did that..... with the loss of many lives. If she deserves the things they are saying about her - well, that's a matter of opinion....... others vary !! I do not feel she should have the big funeral they all doing....... but, like I say - opinions vary !!

I was on a plane, flying over the Atlantic, when the Pilot announced she had won the '79 election..... people boo'ed sooooo loud, I was very surprised !! Oh well - as I've said before today... moving on...

I must stop writing soon... and try to clear up some of the Cd's that are about the place. I don't want the ladies to come back & find the mess, the same as when they went out !! That would not be good...

So, I will move on..... and close this down. I thank you all, for logging in & reading my words.... I really do appreciate your time & - as I used to say - when I started writing this old blog of mine. ... keep logging in & one day, I might write something worth reading !! Oh well.... I thank you...... maybe I'll go look for that magic pill..... until next time....
