Dio- Old concerts & old friends....

Hi again everybody....

How does it feel to have another Easter behind you ? It's a very bright Tuesday, here in old England.... I can look right out, across the bay - over to South Wales and - closer to home, the little beach area, where we used to like to go for a long walk.

To go back over old ground - the last time we went out to the beach - it was no longer there !! That is to say, it was there - but, instead of wind blown sand, it had become a "salt marsh" of sorts.... all very upsetting. We used to enjoy going out there, for a little walk & "play" racing the incoming tide !! Nevermind... like everything - life has moved on.

Ok - moving along.......

It's boys home alone day, again, today. The ladies of the house have gone shopping..... I think to one of our Daughter's favorite shopping "villages". I used to enjoy going there - but.... well, in a nut shell - the Cd shop shut down & there is only so many times I can go into a Sony Centre, to look at things I cannot afford to buy !!

They have only just left home - about 30 minutes ago - so, they won't be back for a while.... that gives me time to blast the last of my Allman's concerts out of the Bose & enjoy the fantastic "25th Wedding Anniversary" gift, that MY Wife & Dearest Friend gave me....... I think it's taken over a month, to play all the concerts, all of the ways thru'..... but, it's been a lot of fun !!

I'me still thinking about putting them on the Mini Egg - but, I really don't want to do that.... as I think I explained before, I would rather have lots of people on the thing, instead of just loading it with my favorite albums !! Having stuff on the Egg, that I usually don't play - well - it will give me lots of different stuff to listen to !!

I've started trying to sort out the Cd's... the ones that have got mixed up on the shelves, over the last few months. By that, I mean I've taken some of the Cd's off of one shelf & I'm trying to put them - just the few on the shelf, into some kind of order !! It's probably going to take forever - but...... what the heck !!

I don't think I'm going to get very far, today.... but, it's a start & as I'm not in any position to take the "magic" pill, at the moment.... well, it will give me something to do !!

Without getting too political..... our Chancellor, has made a speech today, about how working families will be better off, under his latest plans. How, by altering the welfare budget (or something) - working families will be sooooo much better off. How, people on welfare, will have an incentive to go back to work etc etc.

So, that might be very true.... people, working or not, might be better off..... but, then you have people like myself. I worked all of my life, until I got poorly & everything. B worked hard - and is now my full time carer..... helping me, simply sometimes.... other times in more ways than I can say !!

People might be better off.... all I know is, from April 1st 2013 - I'm £4 per week worse off & if that's an incentive for anything, to do with me personally.... well.... I don't see it.... I don't see it at all....

Something I did see, this morning - which I found kind of an incentive..... I went into our bathroom & as it was kind of hot, in there, I opened a window. The first thing I saw, on the hill.... was a wooden cross, put there, to remind us all, about Easter & it's true meaning.

As mentioned before, we live just in front of an old hill fort. It was put there 100's of years ago & used to have a smallish castle tower thingy, on the very top - to look out across the bay & land. Well, the castle went years ago - now, it's just a hill - and at Easter, a large wooden cross is put there, to remind us all. So - that's more or less, the first thing I saw this morning..... that was an incentive, believe me, better than any our government my wish to install upon us !!

The Allman's concert has just ended..... with the words "Good Lord, I feel like I'm dying". Not yet - maybe later.... if I could only find the magic pill !! Ho-hum......

I have just taken my 8 lunchtime pills. "Yuk !!" There are some newish things, that I've been on for a few weeks now..... they are slow release morphine pills & do they ever make me feel sick in the hour or so, after I've taken them !! A real sickly feeling.... horrid !!

Right - I've just changed the music to Dio's 'Holy Diver - Live' 2 Cd set.... well, disc 2 of the set. I miss Ronnie James... he did some great concerts over the years & thankfully, several of them are out to buy officially !! The tracks on this one are:

I was lucky enough to be at Dio's first ever concert, way back in 1983....... I can remember Paul's face, when they slid into Rainbow's 'Stargazer' - it was one of those "camera eye" moments, that I will never forget. If you get the chance - listen to any of Dio's live (or studio) albums... they are a bit special, if you like a bit of rock, now & again !!

Paul is no longer with us, but he was one of those friends.... one of those true friends, that sometimes people are fortunate to have in their lives. To celebrate his life, they have a 'Paul Gibbons Night' once a year - I think - and if you get chance & happen to be on the islands, at the time, go along & enjoy the music !!

I found a multi disc Motorhead set, while I was sorting the Cd's out... it has a great name 'Stone Deaf Forever' - now, if you know Motorhead, that's something that fits !! Onwards - as I'm putting it on the computer, the Egg should be able to handle the bass !! Onwards - ever onwards......

Oh - just staying with music..... I found an old Tom Petty 'live' Cd, on Play.com !! It might not sound too exciting - but, I have a 45 minute tape of the thing, which dates back to about 1987 & - at last, I can now replace it !! I had a friend, who loaned me his 2 Lp set of the show.... now, the Cd is missing 2 of the tracks, but... I can live with that !! I will write more about it, when it eventually gets here..... probably in about a month or so !!

I really love it, when I can replace old tapes....... even if only in part !! Nevermind.......

Right - my plans for today.... well, none at all really. I'll probably mess around with the Cd's & try to do some more of them, but - that's about it !! B told me to not "over do it" while she was out - so, that's a good plan to me !!
