Dan Toler..... RIP

Greetings World's !!

How has this lovely Universe been treating you, these past two days ? I've been having a "great time" - well, all together, this past week has been really good....lots of music & everything !!

I was going to write a little bit, yesterday - but, in the end.... well - it got too late & all I needed really, was my bed !! To explain....

I didn't plan on going out, at all, yesterday..... but..... there was/is a new 'Range' opened up in town & knowing that B wanted to go - I went along, for the ride + I knew, if she went on her own & saw something she wanted, she would leave it on the shelf !! If I'm with her, or ME is tagging along - I know full well we can talk her into treating herself !!

So - we found the place - it's quite big.... lots of stuff on various shelves & everything..... especially "crafty" things - which B really likes..... and, I managed to get her to buy something, for herself !! So, that made the trip worth while. There was this one thing, some sort of cutter thingy, that she has been looking out for..... but, she didn't want it, so I couldn't force her !! maybe next time around.... we'll see......

We then went to the supermarket..... and boy, did we ever fill our "carts" up - or what ever they are called !!

In a nut shell - we had run really low, on practically everything...... mostly foodstuffs, but all the little things that go with it...... sooooo we went in & just bought everything we either thought we needed, or - as we saw it - decided we wanted it !! Total cost..... over £300 !! By far and away - our most expensive shop, in way over a year !! I think the last time - well, it probably Christmas - of last year, I guess !!

The result.... our freezer is full, our fridge is full...... and our bank account is empty-ish !! Nevermind - we needed most of what we bought - so, what the heck..... it will last us quite a while & that's for sure !!

Mind you - there are still some things we came home without..... such as fire lighters - which I only thought about, just a minute or two ago, when J & I were talking about the fire !! Oh well....

Back to the family....... J is here about, as mentioned.... ME - well, she is in bed, after doing a night shift. I don't think she has gone to sleep, just yet, as I can hear her TV playing !! M bought her a full set of the DVD's for the TV show 'Scrubs'... so I think she is watching that.

That just leaves B... My Wife & Dearest Friend. Today, she has gone up to see her Dad. On Monday, I think, it will be his birthday & so... she has taken him up some gifts & a cake, freshly baked this
morning !!

I've mentioned before, that he (Dad) is selling his house.... well, it seems that he has finally gone & got a buyer. So - he will now move into a small place, in the City & - I think - spend all of the cash he has, left over, from the proceeds.

It's his house, his money..... but, unfortunately....... we will only hear the "downside" of it all, when the money runs out !! Nevermind...... it's up to him..... moving on !!

I've just taken a short break - to try & set the fire going. Luckily  I found some very dry stick, so - I hope - that will be enough to get it going. I've put the guard up & moved away - if it catches, I will hear the wood cracking & things will go from there. It's very windy, outside.... so, that's not going to help..... cold is great, because the flames get "drawn" up the chimney, but... windy, not so good !!

Back to other stuff....

The music of the moment, is the soundtrack to 'Game Of Thrones' - which I think is a TV show, tho' I've never seen it !! i know it has a huge fan base, but.... I've not come across it, as yet. M (ME's boyfriend) has it on DVD - so, I will try & get a look, from those. The soundtrack is good tho'.....

Last night, one of my "all time" favorite films was on......  'The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou' !! It has Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Cate Blanchett and sooooo many others in it, I love it !! It's stupidly brilliant & really worth 2 hours of your time, if you get the chance to see it !!

The first time, that I saw it, I thought it was just funny.... but, having seen it so many times, now... well, it's a very clever, brilliant film & worth your time - as I've already said above !!

Back with music... I had an e-mail, to say the first of the Allman's 2013 shows are soon to be here !! So, with that in mind - I've put an order in for the next ones !! To explain....

B has bought me most of the last 2 years worth of Allman's concerts..... maybe all of them - I really don't remember !! Anyhoo - instead of waiting until the end of the year & buying them, all in one big go.... I've decided this year, to pick them up - a few at a a time. So, I ordered the first 3 shows.... which, I think, will soon be here - and now, last night, I've ordered the next 3....... when they get here & money permits, I'll buy the next ones & one & on.....

Ok - I know, it's mad..... but, it will spread the cost & give me lots of new stuff, to listen to, as they get here !! Life is good...... and I love my music !!

I have actually started putting things back on the shelves !! It's still all in a blooming mess - with Cd's here, there & everywhere. I will get around to a few more - when I finish this.... but, not yet !!

I've just changed the Cd, to Iron Maiden's first live album...'Live After Death'. I'm not sure if that's the right one, or not - they've had so many 'live' albums out, I've lost track !! They even have a "new" one out, at the moment.... from 1988 - oh well !!

On a sad note.... I found out, yesterday, that Dan Toler has died !! He was a great guitarist - having spent time, in the studio & on the road with the Allman's & various solo projects by the band members. I only found out, yesterday & he died over a month ago !! I'm out of touch !!

We've lost so many musicians over the last few years.... recently... Alvin Lee (Ten Year After) Kevin Ayers (Soft Machine) Rick Huxley (Dave Clark Five) Stanley Knight (Black Oak Arkansas) and others..... I'm not sure if it's a lot - or just people I know, from the music I played over the years !!

Oh well........

I said to B, yesterday, if I'm lucky enough to be alive & have Grandchildren, I'm going to enjoy buying them toys & things. B said something like "of course you'll be alive".... but, I'm not so sure any more !! Being sick & stuff really does bring you down, to a level I never expected, when I was a little younger !!

On the "bright side" - I was told in 2001, that I had 5 years to live.... so, they got that wrong !! Oh well.... where is that magic pill I've been looking for ?! Oh to sleep - oh to dream...... nevermind !!

I've just checked - the fire seems to have caught !! Once it's really going strong, I'll put a load of coal on it & warm up the living room.... that won't take long !! It's really cold today.... but, very bright. I can look out, across to the sea & the land beyond. Too blooming cold
tho' !!

Right - my plans, for the rest of the day....

Well, I've got a shed load of Cd's to try & find a home for...... plus, a little bit of messing around. As it's a Friday - well, that means the weekend is looming up !! This time - this weekend - is General Conference - so, I will try my best to sit & watch as much of that, as I can. The sections that are on late, well - that's what a recorder is
for !!

No really - the last meetings will not finish to about 11pm, our time - so, there is no way in the World, that i will be awake for them !! I'll record them & watch them later on..... I'm looking forward to it !!

So - that's about it, for now..... I really must get sorting.... too many Cd's & only a few brain cells to deal with them all !! Life is good & I thank you all for taking the time, for logging in & reading my words.... until next time..
